I wish someone, a journalist, a scholar, or anyone with an honest & neutral perspective would investigate the source of all these "accidents". There are too many to ignore & each incident threatens the future of vaping.

The media usually describes the spontaneous explosion of an "e-cigarette" without a cause, & the vaping community responds with the "user error" argument.

Without real knowledge, I fear regulation without understanding.

Are there instances where a battery that might have been damaged or is faulty for what ever reason then finally vents spontaneously at a random time with no external cause?
You've asked this a couple of times, but nobody answers.
I think it might be because nobody wants to tell you that the answer is yes.

The phrase "internal short circuit" is what you want to Google.

This one is a regulated mod exploding during some guys vlog :

His explanation :

Vape was a snowwolf 200W. They were NOT two different batteries, running at 40W. The snowwolf 200 has a small tab on the bottom of the back panel for your fingernail to remove the tab. This tab can sometimes slip when putting it back on and jam in between the two battery conductors. This usually arcs between the back panel and the batteries, except this time they overloaded and caught fire. Hope this helps! A little user error, a little design flaw.

This is why I do not use those huge mod boxes that require you to put the battery in. I have a eLeaf iStick 30 watt box and the battery is hardwired in. Thus, no battery handling and that's just fine with me --- and this above, is why. :thumb:o_O:eek:

Lets see....... Guy at the skating rink with his boy. Has mod in his pocket. Says his boy keeps falling so he's picking him up time after time......

Might be me but I'm sure he somehow managed to get that device "on" with all the picking up of his boy.......... Why not just leave your vape in the car or locker???????

If the battery is in the device and your using the device then you're handling the battery. It's not the battery being taken in and out of the device that causes problems, it's the improper use of them. What happened in that video is happening to all kinds of devices because they all contain batteries.

Must be the kind that you buy. Because I haven't had any problems with mine at all thankfully. [emoji5]

I guess this answers the question can batteries vent and explode instantly, with no warning.

So many times these incidents are dismissed as unbelievable because "the user would have gotten some warning the battery was going to vent/explode... that it does not happen instantly".

I read several essays on Li battery failure. Substandard manufacturing of the battery or the device is an issue. Abuse is an issue. Leaving out those things and considering the reletively small number of reports compared to the number of users the risks are low enugh for me. I wish the watts competition would end. May be the rule should be you can't vape more watts than your age.
