Another Kayfun Question

Been playing around with my new kayfun and like it. Wondering if there is anyway to take kayfun apart with juice still in the tank?

For example you want to change flavors? can I take it apart with juice I want to save in it, empty it , and refiil it? what about if you have

a full tank and its not wicking good and you need to change the wick? Every time I take it apart I lose all my juice.

I can normally turn the tank upside down and unscrew the base if the liquid level is below the chimney section. Take the drip tip off and it sits quite happily and allows me to get at the coils/wicks. Reassemble upside down and you are generally good to go. If there's too much liquid in it will cause a mess though!

I'm sure others will offer better advice however

I unscrew the top (drip tip end) and pour the juice back into the bottle. A while back I was in a Big Lots store and stumbled onto a little package of two tiny little funnels that fit into my juice bottles, I think I paid $0.50 for them. I just stick the funnel in the bottle and set the opened tank on top, so it drains out the bulk of the juice, then unscrew the build deck, clean it up, and rewick.

Nice thing about this is, once drained, I don't mess with cleaning up the tank section and I don't rinse out the top section, I just set them on their side on a vapor towel and they don't leak much, if any, while I'm working on the wick. The o-rings stay moist with juice so everything's lubricated and ready for reassembly.

Easy way is to use a syringe through the fill port to extract all the fluid before opening it.

Another easy way is to put the drip tip into the opening of your juice container while opening it so the juice goes back into your bottle.

Super easy way but not cost effective… Open it over the sink.

Not really. What you need is a blunt end syringe of a fairly large gauge needle. They can be bought fairly inexpensively from Amazon, 10 for under $10 IIRC.

The ones I bought were supposed to have blunt ends, which I take to mean they have no angle cut on the end, and they didn't, they have an angle. They are .050" which I think is 18 gauge. If I was to buy more I would look for 16 gauge which will allow you to fill and remove e-liquid slightly faster.

But you should remove the e-liquid from a KF before you take it apart. If you don't have any syringes that you can use at the moment you can cover the air intake hole and unscrew the top section and then dump the e-liquid out. But if you finger slips off the air intake hole e-liquid will flood the chimney and start to fill up the airway.

I prefer the put drip tip end method into my eliquid bottles and unscrew to bottom... fast and efficient, in fact I've never bothered unfilling any other way except I have taken the top off just to look if it was almost empty as I suspected but be careful the pressure drops and eliquid will spit out the airhole on the bottom.

I have another question. I have made some coils and its doing great at 16-19 watts . However if I crank it up over 20 it taste burnt. I am using 28 gauge kanthal and cotton wicks. Do I need to use twisted 28 guage for something at high watts or is it my wick? maybe juice?

Nope just to many watts really… Having higher wattage isn't the answer. The answer is finding the spot the juice tastes best with ANY given build and letting it chill there. If you want super high watts go to thicker gauge wire. That way you can drain your battery faster and get the same flavor but be able to say you vape at 50 watts!!

Point being… I've gotten the same results at 8 watts with a particular coil that I got at 15watts with another coil. Difference was.. Battery lasted me about 4 days at 8 watts.

I have a couple of kayfuns that I use in the 20 watt range, what I use is a thicker gauge wire and more wick coverage in order to achieve this. so yes I would increase wire diameter from the 28g. I use 26g or twisted 30g, I have even used twisted 28. I like these coils in the .8 to 1.0 range on my dna.

What resistance is your coil, Ohms?

That is the limiting factor on the wattage you use. If the ohms is around 1.5 even at 15 watts you might get a burnt taste on a longer draw.

Just because a device can go to 20 or 30 watts doesn't mean you should use it at those higher wattage settings or that you will get better vapor or better taste at those higher wattages.

That makes sense. My coil now is 1.1.
