Cheers folks.

A couple weeks ago, on a whim while out with my GF, I bought a starter kit Halo G6 (with Tribeca juice). Since then, I've had only 2 "normal" cigarettes, and frankly after the last, I won't be going back. The taste is better, no stink, so much nicer as I can just sit at my desk and vape as I like, and I don't have to go outside to have a smoke when it's below zero.

Of course, I've made all the n00b mistakes and just ordered some more cartomizers on line as well as larger bottles of Tribeca. Let me see... Over filled them. Puffed too often and I'm guessing burned the inside as they taste like dirt no matter what I do. Filled too much (the woman I got them from said to use about 10 drops, and either she's off in that estimate or I use really really big drops). Spilled the juice.

Yep. I did it.

Found a place more or less local to me in the Boston area that sells them, Quincy MA, however I wasn't entirely impressed with their prices, but I needed something to get me by.

Now, I've noticed while browsing the forums what look like completely different setups than anything I've seen. In fact, while looking over the thread about "what's your setup", I see things that look more like rocket engines and have lots of liquid in them. Could anyone tell me what those types are called, and what the advantage is besides looking seriously cool? They appear to hold a lot more liquid, something I'd be interested in as I routinely drive to and from Maine to visit my GF in Portland.

Glad I've found this forum. It's been a wealth of information.

Hey there, I'm a newb here too! I just looked up the G6 kit and it looks to be along the same lines as my Victory kit. Those types of e-cigs are referred to "cig-a-likes". I had overfilling problems with mine too; I finally figured out that I just had to watch how saturated the filling was.

I now have an eGo-T passthrough battery with a CE4 clearomizer (bought from High Desert Vapes). I can plug it into any USB port to charge it and use it at the same time, so that's cool. It usually lasts 1-1.5 days on one charge too.

The "rocketships" you refer to are most likely mods. They could be Vamos, Lavatubes, Teslas, ProVaris, and many more. These types of e-cigs are different than most e-cigs that you just plug into a charger since you put batteries into them yourself, and they usually contain a lot more features, such as variable voltage, variable wattage, ohm rating identifier, and/or battery charge indicator. That's not even to mention that depending on the battery you buy and how much you vape, they can last days between charges. Better yet, when your battery stops working, you just buy another battery for 8-20 bucks, instead of a whole new vape.

With mods (and other eGo/510 style batteries), you can utilize tanks (tankomizers) and clearomizers for your e-juice. Tanks usually use cartomizers, and can hold between 2 and 7ml of e-juice at a time. Compared to the .5-1ml capacity of the cartridges you are used to, these can obviously hold much more. Tanks can be purchased in plastic, metal, or even glass (given that some e-juice can eat away at plastic tanks/clearomizers if it's really acidic).

Clearomizers use wicks instead of cartomizers and are usually in sizes that hold between 1 and 4ml. Clearomziers are usually plastic, but can sometimes be metal. With both styles though, when the coil (heating element) inside fails, you can just replace the head (in clearomizers) or cartomizer (in tankomizers) for a couple bucks a piece instead of buying all new cartridges (given that you buy a model that supports this).

Additionally, if you want to give some new e-juice a try, head over to Mt Baker Vapor and check out their selection. They have awesome prices, great tasting juice, and the shipping is almost unrealistically quick. Plus, if you spend over $15, you get a free sample. Thug Juice is great if you like fruit/menthol.

And if I made any errors, someone please give corrections!

Hope that helps guide you a little bit. Cheers!

The rocket engine part really cracked me out lol :)) anyway, what you have seen in that thread are basically tube mods which have attached tanks to the connector. Now a mod varies in alot of specifications, such as Variable Voltage/Wattage (many have both), mechanicals, and hybrids. More information on that part here: APV Discussion

The atomizers you have seen attached in the device are mostly cartomizers with a tank, a Genesis style atomizer, or CE style tanks. Cartomizers with a tank are basically cartos with a drilled/laser punched hole which is then fitted to a tank. The tank holds the juice inside while feeding it through the hole of the cartomizer. A Genesis is a Rebuildable Atomizer with the tank below the coil, and in my opinion the best vape ever if it is built successfully. I would not recommend this to you yet as the genesis requires basic experience and knowledge about rebuilding. CE style tanks are wick based tanks, either top or bottom coil, and the wicks act as an absorbent material to let the juice flow through it to the heating coil.

If your interest is basically around the amount of juice a "container" can hold, as you may say, I would recommend a cartotank or a Vision Vivi nova as these hold amounts of juice for more than a day, in my experience. Good luck!

Holy crap. My boss just walked into my office as I was vaping. He asked what this was and I explained it to him. Now, I've worked here 10 years and he knows how hard it's been for me to quit smoking, and knows I'd been smoking for a long, long time.

"If you can keep off the cigs for a month, I'll give you two days off with pay."

Not that I needed the added incentive as I've come to like this better than analog, but dang! Days off with pay? Yes Sir!

Damn fine answer from someone who considers themself a newb. :thumb:

And to the OP, welcome to ECF. Read around, Google weird terms, and ask questions. You'll find out what you wanna know and maybe even get your own "rocket" one day.

Took n4sdaq's advice and looked around for an eGo and, after a bit of Googling found a place in Saugus MA that carried them! He didn't have the Clearomizer, however he has the eGo devices and a good selection to boot (as well as being far, far better than the other local place to me). Now I'm ordering the Clearomizer n4sdaq suggested to give it a whirl.

Like night and day! Did a trip up to Maine this weekend and the eGo was perfect for the full 2hr drive up and the drive back. No switching out cartos during the ride, which was great. Thanks to everyone for the input, I do appreciate it.
