Another newbie story, and next steps

Classic newbie story: I tried some disposables first (Blu and a couple others), liked it, bought the Blu starter kit, and I'm happily vaping away. Discovered this forum, did a pile of research (it takes DAYS to sort it all out!), and I'm contemplating the next steps...

(One difference from most noobs, maybe: I'm vaping to get off the nicotine lozenges, and to avoid sneaking the occasional cig at work, where all the young hipsters smoke.) Since I started vaping, not a single lozenge or real cig.

Unlike many others, I'm pretty happy with the Blus, although like everyone I'm a bit tired of battery management.

So that's my first question: are there other batteries out there that use the same screw fitting as the blu cartomizers? Maybe a nice manual 650 mAh?

I also just found out about refiling the blu carts, so will probably try that next, to keep it tasting fresh and yummy, and to experiment a bit with flavors. So I'm leaning toward experimenting with the blu some more, refilling carts and maybe getting a bigger battery, if they exist...

However, there's another part of me that thinks I should just bite the bullet and order an eGo 650 mAh, classic 510 kit, which I've found for about $50 a couple places. I know it's "last year's model", but a lot of people have loved it over the years, so I'm sure I'd be happy with it.

Hmmm, decisions, decisions...thanks for any advice/opinions!

Hi!

First of all, welcome to the wonderful world of vaping and ECF.

I know how you feel... The battery management issue is probably the worst part of vaping.

I'm not sure if there are any decent sized batteries with the same threading as the blus, but I know that it's possible to buy adaptors between more or less every e-cig threading known to man. So if you want to stick with the blu carts but use a bigger battery, that could be an option.

However, my personal advice would be to go ahead and buy an eGo/510 compatible starter kit. The amount of compatible hardware out there is just incredible, and you would probably end up on that platform within a few months anyway. And you could still add a couple of adaptors to your setup, in order to mix and match with your existing stuff.

Happy vaping, and I hope you'll be able to stay away from the lozenges and analogs.

As for compatibility - Blu has 510 threading but is NOT a 510. Blu is reverse electrical polarity from 510. A Blu's charger will fry a 510 and vice versa. Blu is an L88b.

But cartos don't care about electrical polarity. You can use any single coil 510-threaded cartos 2.5 to 3 ohms.

Having said that Blu has a 30 day money back guarantee. If you're under the 30 days I'd strongly suggest you take advantage of it and purchase a diff kit for much cheaper with higher quality- A really good starter kit should cost about $40- $50.

Welcome to ECF and congrats on making the transition to vaping ;)

Ego's are a fine device, especially for the use level you describe. I started on Egos, vaped only on them for a year plus a couple of months before I tried something different.

Re juices. When you decide to branch out get sample packs or sizes to see what tickles your fancy, don't invest in large bottles until you find your favorites. Having said that, your taste will probably change over time so don't try to use just one all the time, pretty soon you won't taste it or it won't taste good to you any longer. Juice variety is my motto ;)

However, there's another part of me that thinks I should just bite the bullet and order an eGo 650 mAh, classic 510 kit, which I've found for about $50 a couple places. I know it's "last year's model", but a lot of people have loved it over the years, so I'm sure I'd be happy with it.

I've been using "last years model" for a few months now and am completely happy. I purchased two RIVA eGo kits that use 510 cartomizers. Two batteries are enough for a full day for me. I keep the other two on charge and switch them out every evening.

I vape so I don't have to smoke. From this forum and many of the websites I've seen many people have turned this in to a hobby (some an obsession). More power to them, it keeps them happy and isn't hurting anyone.

I just use it to replace smoking. Invested ~$70 in a couple of simple kits and $20 a week in supplies and in return I get to walk up the stairs without getting out of breath.

The bullet was bitten: I just ordered the eGo 650mAh classic (510 attys) kit, and a sampler pack of juice, from Dragonfly. About $70 total including shipping.

I was back and forth on the tank/510 debate, finally just went for the 510s, knowing that people have loved them for a long time, that there is a plethora of compatible add-ons, and that my needs are modest: since a blu cart lasts me over a day, I bet a freshly filled 510 will go at least a day.

I'll probably still play around refilling the blu carts, just because it sounds like fun :)

Thanks for all the advice, folks! This place is great!

The story continues: I'm loving my eGo 650 (no more constant recharging), Blu carts fit (and vape) just fine, and I'm exploring liquids. So far Johnson Creek Red Oak line is hands down my fave. Wisconsin Frost is a lot like Blu menthol, their Tennesee Cured is the ONLY tobacco flavor I've tried that I like, and etc. Using Vea cartomizers mostly, but so far I'm cartomizer agnostic. I don't love the 510 atomizers with cartridge...they work, but seem to be fussy and run dry fast.

My plan is to phase out the nicotine...I have some 11mg Wisconsin Frost on the way, after that it will be 0!
