Hello all…. I am 20 year, pack a day Marlboro Light 100 smoker and complete noob to e-cigs. I had bought a couple BLU disposables just to get a taste… so to speak. The results were encouraging enough to order KGO 1100mah starter set today. Thank goodness I found this forum! I had NO IDEA how many choices and possible e-cig directions there were. Admittedly somewhat overwhelmed and a bit numb after hours of reading… I pulled the trigger… I needed to do SOMETHING! Thanks to all that share their time and experience in hopes of helping us make more informed decisions.

A couple of questions…

I ordered some Smoktech 1.7 ohm XL Single Coil Cartomizers BEFORE I read a post here on ECF that there have been or are some problems with those? Something about a new filler material that makes them taste bad? Can anyone comment on this?

What recommendations might you have for other cartomizers?

I was told today that the Ego Mega Dual Coil Carts work well with the KGO unit… But I’ve also read it might not have the voltage to drive the dual coils to their peak operation? Any comments one way or the other on that?

Any advantage / disadvantage to the Boge Carts?

I ordered a 5 bottle (6ml / bottle) sample pack of juices as well. Given my smoking history above (pack a day for 20yrs), how long might I reasonably expect this to last? (Assuming of course that I actually like, and vape all of them.)

My hope (and I guess expectation) is the KGO rig will perform MUCH better than the BLU disposables in every category that counts. (I’m not worried about the KGO not looking like an analog cig.) Is that a reasonable expectation?

Thank again for your help and input!

Hi spw11 and welcome to ECF. The Kgo is a very nice kit and with the 1100 mah/ true 3.7 volt batts you're able to use a variety of attys and cartos. I use nothing but the 1.7 cartos and have no problem with them. Have also given about 700 out to people ( it's long story LOL) and they've reported no problems using then with the Kgo. The beauty of the 1.7 SmokTech is that they vape like a dual coil but are not as hard on the batt as a dual coil. Using the 1.7 now for 4 months. You'll be very happy with the Kgo- lots of power. Regarding your juice you didn't specify how much nicotine/ mg it is. Most new vapers go through about +- 30 ml per week.
Good Luck.

Thanks everyone for your responses and thoughts! Based on the reading I did it seemed like a pretty good first choice. Probably a better choice than a BLU starter kit anyway.... Which is the direction I was headed until I found this forum.

Yelsew Skraps... Thanks for the heads up on the Tejas Group and the FAQ link. Will have to keep my eye on that group.

The Duke.... I read some favorable reviews (or had seen a review video) the KGO / Smoktech 1.7 combo which is what lead me in that direction. Always nice to hear someone else has had a good expierence with something that is so new to me.

Vapoor eyes er... Hopefully this post about the Smoktech cart problems was an isolated incident. I'm happy to hear you've had such good luck with them.

I went with the highest nic level this vendor had to offer in the flavors I wanted which was 24mg. They may have had 30 mg in some other flavors, but I seem to remember reading something along the lines of it's possible for noobs such as myself to get too much nic. I dunno... It just seemed to make sense to start high... so to speak.

Finger tight... Good to know!

Thanks again everyone!

Great choice on PV,that's what I use,and have had good luck with Boge 2ohm cartos along with the Smoke Tech. The only time I didn't care for the 1.7 was with some sweet juices, seemed a little hot ( to me anyway ). 24mg was to much for me,but every one is different. Might want to get some different levels if to much for you. And as everyone has said drink PLENTY of water.

Welcome. I began with 36 mg but I smoked 1 PAD very strong analogs. If it's too strong you could always buy a lower nic in the same flavor and mix the 2 OR buy some PG and VG and add to dilute it BUT the flavor will also be diluted. If you get dizzy or have headaches the nic level is too high. PG and VG can be bought at the pharmacy- VG (USP) in the first aid/ band aid section and PG is special order- tell them you are allergic to soap and are making your own. PG can also be bought from a farm supply but 1 gallon is minimum order. If you're really in a bind with juices here's a search directory:

Good Luck.

If ST has changed the filler it's because they've been too popular and are lasting too long and perhaps are using a cheaper filler IMO. I've always liked ST and appreciated their quality until I heard of the upcoming release of a VV that would not pass ECF batt safety standards in regards to the batteries...maybe they're getting too big and popular???

When selecting the flavors I noticed you could buy them with different percentages of PG and VG. I would assume doing so is something of an acquired taste and one that is learned over time so I got 100% PG. I hope THAT wasn’t a mistake as I just realized the BLU disposables I’ve been trying are 100% VG.

I guess there can be some allergy issues with some folks?

Is one more viscous than the other, maybe allowing one or the other to work better with different carts?

Just curious why someone would use one over the other (PG vs VG…. If not for allergy issues), AND why a certain percentage mix of the two?

I ordered a few Boge carts as well. To cover my bases in case there are issues with the STs, and to try something different for comparisons sake.

Haven’t had a “Stash Box” in many, many years…. And the one I did have way back when didn’t having anything to do with the postman. I think I’m flashing back…..

I think you did great to find the KGO so soon!! My KGO is my third setup!! And I love it! I use the 1.7 single coil cartos and love them,, they give the best vape. I also use the EMDCCs and they work but I think it's true that the batts don't have enough power to bring out their full potential.. but still, they aren't bad. Boge 2.0 aren't terrible either.. I don't have any trouble with juices filling up the cartos.. I use 50/50 and 70/30 mixes.. guess I don't pay a lot of attention to the mixes:blush: This whole business will only be as complicated as you want to make it... I seem to take the long road to wherever I end up! You're gonna love that KGO!!

Iffy.... Congrats on 1 yr being tobacco free! That's a big deal, especially in light of 45 yrs of smoking 2 pad. A quick question for you. I'm looking at this as a way to quite smoking. Do you see yourself giving up vaping too some day? No reason to I guess... I just wonder how many long term smokers keep vaping long after they've given up the tobacco?
