Yes I agree with sailorman. Whatever advice he gives you can "take it to the bank". 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge.

One more thing. If you decide on the Volt, pay the extra $1 and get the "mega" batteries. The standard batteries are 220mah and the megas are 380mah. That translates into almost twice the run time per charge and, in the world of small batteries, run time per charge is a major, major consideration. The standard size should last about 2 hours per charge, the mega batteries about 3.5 hours.

Wow. So many great responses. I really appreciate all of your responses.

It looks like I will be going with the Volt. Now for the "juice" recommendations. Is there a sampler pack or something. Or would you recommend getting blank cartridges that I fill myself?

I would get a sampler pack or two just to try out different flavors. You can always refill the cartomizers with more juice if you like it. I found the hardest part of tweaking my vaping experience was finding juice flavors that I wanted to vape all day, every day. This is because taste is so subjective and each person has specific needs and wants. The sampler packs are the easiest way to try a lot of different juices. Here are some reviews on SmokelessImage's samplers packs by SteelJan, who is a great reviewer to watch....

Great advice as usual Sailorman.
When ordering the volt kit those larger batteries are listed as "78mm" it is certainly worth the $1.00 more.

The real only complaint he has is about the juices the website supplies. You can always buy blank cartomizers and juice elsewhere.

Even Smokeless Image themselves recommend other vendors for juice. :)
They carry a limited selection of juices for people to get started with but they openly admit their main focus is hardware and have no problem with people going elsewhere for juice.

Do I want the manual or the auto batteries? What is the difference?

Personal preference on which to get. Manuals have a button you push to activate it. Autos are activated when you draw/pull/suck on it. Maybe get one of each to see which you prefer.

Most prefer the manual as it gives the user full control and you don't need to adjust your draw to get the hit you like.

How long a cartridge lasts if you just vape it until it's empty depends on you. If you fill it yourself and keep it topped off, it should last anywhere from a few days to a week or more.

If you're ordering blank cartomizers, you should get at least 10 to start. By the time you get through 5 of them, you'll have a better idea of how many you need to order the next time. Remember, you can't mix flavors in a cartomizer. When you're starting out, you're going to be testing flavors. So unless you use an atomizer to test juice, you're going to be going through more cartomizers than you normally would.

If you're ordering pre-filled and don't have any extra juice to refill them, I'd get at least 10 or 15, maybe more. That should last an average smoker a week or two. It's really hard to estimate without knowing your smoking habits.

An average vaper goes through about 3-5ml a day, if that's any help.

And, I'd suggest manual batteries unless you have some overwhelming need to vape no-handed. The button becomes second nature in no time. It allows you much more control over your drag. An auto battery requires a "primer" puff to heat up, then cuts you off in some pre-determined time. It's also more susceptible to damage from leaking cartos. An auto battery can be drip resistant, but they're not drip proof.

Edit: O.k., a half pack on weekdays, pack on weekends. A cartridge is roughly, VERY roughly equal to about 6-10 cigarettes. Figure 8 cigs on average. That's about 11 cartridges per week if they're filled and you don't refill them.

how long does a cartridge last? Just wondering how many to order to start.

I would start with one of each sampler pack, which contain 5 flavors each. SmokelessImage has three different samplers - 1. Smooth, 2. Sweet, and 3. Strong. Depending on which kit you buy, they come with a pack or two included. Just add the other two packs separately. That way, you can try all the flavors, decide which you like, and just place subsequent orders for those juices and cartomizers.
