Right. Just ignore the "x" formed by the green line going up on the right and the dotted red line going down on the right in each of the graphs of the men's groups. The same trend is seen in all of the women's graphs, but not enough to cross each other (getting close in the high education group, though.)

Oh, and don't forget that Professor Gregory Connolly of Hah-vahd told us at the July 22 TPSAC meeting that the smoking prevalence rate in Sweden is 25%. See Slide #15. http://www.fda.gov/downloads/Adviso...uctsScientificAdvisoryCommittee/UCM265329.pdf

He must have focused his attention on the "Women, basic education" group and ignored the rest.

Or else he has been out in the cherry orchard, harvesting.

Those graphs show pretty clearly that snus has had a significant impact on smoking rates.

I'm sure the ANTZ can make a case for needing more money to fight the ominous signs of increased use of tobacco products by a segment of the Swedish. That's ANTZspeak for there is a direct correlation for an uptake of tobacco use in basic education women. But even with them it appears that the smoking rate declined a bit.

Bill, thanks for the post. It's an interesting graphing of this information and shows a direct correlation of a move away from the more dangerous tobacco product to a much safer tobacco product.
