I'm hearing rumblings of another e-cig legislative battle in NY. I'm lazy and generally ignore this kind of stuff unless it's truly threatening... anyone know more about this one?

On a related note, I just now ran into the following posting by another major e-cig supplier addressing its California customers:

In recent conversations with the State of California, the Attorney General's office has expressed concern that minors under the legal smoking age may be inclined to purchase Electronic Cigarettes. They further believe that certain flavors of nicotine cartridges specifically appeal to minors. After discussing this issue in great detail with the Attorney General's office, we have decided to require age verification on our website and to discontinue our flavors, other than tobacco and Menthol, in the State of California. We realize that you enjoyed our variety of flavors and that choice is very important to you. We are pleased to announce that we will be introducing a whole new line of tobacco and Menthol cartomizers in the near future - so check our site often for updates. We are excited about these new varieties and we are confident that once you try them, you'll share our enthusiasm.

Definitely don't mean to whip up fear here, but I'm hoping the more informed minds here can guide our action, if needed.

Bottom line - make it harder to get for those under 18. Don't punish California sheesh! Not only that, but how many under 18's have access to a major credit card anyway? This shouldn't be for online businesses, but more for the malls and smoke shops that sell them, where they should be IDing just like they would cigarettes anyway. I would think the start up cost alone would be prohibative for teens. I saw someone had this in there signature...

We aren't yet sure if Ecigs are harmful so we are banning them. We are positive smoking is harmful, so feel free to light up!

So sad huh?

That would be my first point to all of this under 18 nonsense. e-cigs are sold where cigarettes are or on the net. You have to have a credit card. I have a 21 yo college graduate who can't get a credit card. Not more than a handfull of minors do.
