This is in response to The Times articles and editorial slandering vapor researchers for meeting with folks from the tobacco industry

I hope these suits aren't resolved with just a simple apology. Monetary awards should be granted to bring these types of stunts to a screeching halt.

Note that the UK, unlike the US, has strict libel and slander laws, and that UK courts have held slanderers accountable.

In contrast, the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution gives far greater freedom of speech to Americans and the news media.
