Today my duties involved driving through several zip codes on various main roads. I was bombarded by a bunch of anti-vaping billboards.

Not a big surprise really, but what was a surprise was each one had a long rambling message that would likely cause more crashes in the places where vehicles are like trains.… a long chain all close to each other barreling along like being pulled by the engine car.

The silly part was I had not thought of puffing on a vape until I saw another, then another. To me they make about as much sense as banning tobacco products but pushing to legalize that stuff that tends to make folks all foggy-like. But then again if one understands how the nanney-state wants us depending on them it actually makes more sense.

One said "don't fog your mind with vaping". vaping doesn't make me foggy but back when I used that other stuff it shirashell did.

That's hilarious. I'm installing ad-block for my next roadway system. How big would a billboard have to be to be legible if you were traveling at faster-than-light speeds?

The real problem is the billboards are incredibly cheap to rent, and ads gain their power through obnoxiousness. If you hard-boil human existence, about .01% isn't some kind of ad.

If you fill people's lives with so much crap they can't tell what they need, you can sell them anything. Then it's just a matter of setting up trigger points, auto-responses that get people emotionally invested, responding without thinking twice about it. The Titan's Calamitous Recipe.

Local paper runs regular smiley faced articles on that substance.

Recently rode the bus and saw Health Canada has a huge awareness campaign targeting teen vaping.
  • Vaping can increase your exposure to harmful chemicals.
  • Vaping can lead to nicotine addiction.
  • Vaping nicotine can alter teen brain development.
  • Even if a vaping product does not contain nicotine, there is still a risk of being exposed to other harmful chemicals.
  • The long-term consequences of vaping are unknown.
  • It's rare, but defective vaping products (especially batteries) may catch fire or explode, leading to burns and injuries.

If they really wanted to stop teen vaping, just post a bunch of signs that vaping decreases teen libido. There, no more teens buying it. Just a lot of parents buying it for their teens.

My parents said "don't you dare do X".

Guess what I was doing not long after that?

To me a billboard is for a giant photo of whatever someone wants to sell you, a pretty gal wearing an expensive watch… a steaming, delicious burger, a crashed car with "don't drive drunk", the current lottery amount etc. You have about 2.5 seconds to get your message out.

Those paying for these are wasting their money in my view. Especially if they are aimed at teens. Lecturing with long drawn out speeches on a billboard is stupid.

That other stuff doesn't make you stupid. There are tons of folks who use it medicinally who are plenty smart, and who need it and benefit from it and are 100% functional.

THAT stereotype is as BAD and DAMAGING as the vaping ones. But sure, if you want to pit one group against another.... Go for broke.

The other stuff doesn't make you "drop out, drop down, dumb down" etc. that was propaganda from the SIXTIES.

Anyone who doesn't understand that just as many things from the 60s were propaganda as now needs.... IDK a history lesson at the end of a whip.

Where there is human society.,,, there will be propaganda. Don't do it. Don't buy in to ANY of it
