ok folks, i have just switched over from analogs a week ago opon trying my new vaperizer. smoked over a pack a day for 17 years, my entire adult life as well as my teen years. Ive been prone to anxiety my entire life. not breathe in a bag type, just noticably uncomfortable/butterflies in the guts type feelings when id be in certain social situations and just around crowds in general.this would occur pretty much daily, atleast once a day for as long as i could remember. heres where it gets weird;

i have not had that feeling, not for one second, since i made the switch.its been a week, and thats unheard of for me.
this is even more strange when you factor in im using 24 mgs of nicotene at about 2 ml's a day or more. i have not reduced my caffeine levels whatsoever or diet in any way.

this is clearly not a problem, and im certainly not complaining, at all. but has anyone else heard of this ever occuring?

thats great to hear! i too noticed the anxiety drop since quitting cigs :)

really eh? so maybe there is something to this. the sickening guts and shortness of breathe/lightheadness has been totally absent. i legitamitely have been in a great mood since.its noticable to people around me too. there maybe was something in the cigarettes that s been causing that .... all these years...

I have no personal experience with your (non)issue, but there have been hundreds of studies showing that after quitting smoking, people with stress(and even mental disorders) have improved not only in how stressed they are, but their happiness and overall emotions.

I'm not sure about your situation, but, the most significant improvement in mental health was in people who used cigarettes to "cope" instead of pleasure. Scientists at Virginia university found that inactivation of a sub-class of nicotine receptors that bind nicotine, seems to reduce anxiety.

To sum it up, it's actually very common to see improved anxiety levels. Even if it wasn't common, it's still amazing that switching from analogs could have that effect on you.

Keep on vapin!

well it was just way to common a problem (daily occurence, mostly several a day) for me and the only change in anythng this past week has been the switch.if its a coincidence, its a hell of a one.

Hi jdm. I'm glad to read this post because I am too a long-term anxiety sufferer. I've smoked analogs 40+ years and believe in the people here when they say vaping is the way to go. I've used the Blu and I'm working to get through the anxiety over inhaling the e-cigs. I'm not sure I can do the "hold it in your mouth and out your nose" thing without inhaling into lungs. So I'm working on it daily - asking questions, running into people at work who vape is helping!! I'm taking baby steps but hope to get there. My problem is I have been (not lately but in the past) the "breathing in the bag" type of anxiety person. I used analogs for my anxiety...and now they have turned on me and caused me more problems than I want to deal with. Bottom line though (without getting into all my stuff) I appreciate you sharing because that just gives me even more hope!!

well ann, i got prescribed a lose dose anti depressant for a period of about 6 months that did significantly help me at that time.i know the stigma of them being detremental with all the side effects and what not, but they did make things much more managable, but still present, in a milder form.

ive been off them some 6 months now, and felt it creeping back in, getting more and more 'edgey' i guess you could say. since i dropped the 25 - 30 smokes a day habit immediately after my first drag off the ego twist i bought, i have seriously felt the most calm and happy ive felt in seemingly ever. i mean zero, nothing. and this is with no medication whatsoever.

I have always been the bull in the china shop. Either go for it or don't. I will give anything a chance to see if it works. If you spend your life worrying what will happen in the next minute you are doomed and will be miserable.

thats great, but the problem with suffering from anxiety disorder is its often based on irrational fear to begin with.you don't know why you feel the way you do, so it makes the whole face your fear' thing abit more complex then that.it really is something you need to have been through to understand the frustraightion and exhaustion that comes along with that disorder. if it was just a matter of 'sacking up ' and 'grabbing the bull by the horns' it wouldnt nearly be as frustraighting as it is.

that being said, i feel abesolutely fantastic the past 7 days.take from that what you will.

Yeah. I've had this all my life so it isn't new and I know when I change things on the "outside" of me, my anxiety reduces (such as power walking, etc etc) so I've not gone with the antidepressants my Dr wanted me to try. I know smoking and the problems it's caused me is causing more anxiety. My question now to you is this: I have the eGo start kit my sis sent me. She sent 18 mg nicotine juice with the kit. I haven't tried it yet (only tried Blu ecig disposable - and I can see that won't be enough to get off analogs). So question...do you lung inhale? I asked someone at work today that question since there was a post about it here (lung or mouth inhale) and she looked at me like I was nuts lol!! She said "OH yeah I inhale into my lungs!!"

Absolutely not true for me. I quit smoking for 10 years and my anxiety worsened over that time. I started vaping a few weeks ago and that has given me some relief. My brain likes nicotine and I'm happy to have the option.

jdm1982 - I'm glad vaping/quitting is helping you. Anxiety is an awful feeling.

i had a v2 previously wth no nicotene and carts and it sat in the drawer while i continued to smoke 25-30 analogs a day. i bought a joyetech ego-twist with the variable voltage dial and have been using 24 mg export A juice on 4 volts using a 2.2 ohm coil. it has worked better than i expected at replicating cigarette smoke.would that be good for you? who knows. i say try the juice you have as 18 is still the higher end of the middle ground and could be perfect for you.if you still feel its not cutting it, pick up a 10 ml bottle of 24 and try.

im not quite sure what you mean by mouth inhale or lung? i dont suck it back hard lke i did with cigarettes, i just hold it down for 3-5 seconds with a slow drag and then open my mouth, then inhale it deep.im not sure what thats considered, but thats what i do.

Well I never heard of "mouth" inhale, but apparently some people only suck into their mouth and out through their nose. Not inhaling into lungs. I think if I had done that...I wouldn't have the coughing like I've had that nudged me into trying this. Who knows. But that's what I've read on here...so I was just asking if you inhale into your lungs or just suck into your mouth and out. It almost sounds like a silly question to me, but the old posts I've read have made me wonder.

I have recently switched to vaping and I too suffer from anxiety. Before I stopped smoking, I noticed during and after a cigarette my anxiety went up. This does not happen for me while vaping. I'm guessing it has something to do with how cigarette smoke restricts the amount of oxygen in your bloodstream, which can lead to various issues, including anxiety. From my experience, increased oxygen levels in the bloodstream can reduce anxiety. For example, practicing deep breathing exercises when one feels panicked. However, this is probably only one factor of many.

would make sense why when i used to exercise pretty hard my anxiety levels would drop noticably also. but i mean, ths past week, it hasn't reduced, its completely absent for the frst time in my lfe that i can recall for this length of time since i was a kid.

I've dealt with anxiety and depression my whole life. I smoked 1-2 packs a day for 29 years and I'm one of the lucky took-a-vape-a-quit-smoking-that-day people.

And mine is better as well.

I'm trying not to over-analyze it which as you know is tough for folks like us but I think a good part of it is the freedom we have now. I don't have to stress constantly about:

Do I have cigarettes
When do I need to get more
When can I smoke again
Can I smoke if I go ___
Do I stink
Did I put that cigarette out all the way
Those people over there see me smoking and are giving me dirty looks

It goes on and on.

It's so much freedom after being chained to cigarettes almost 3 decades. Add to the just the fact you kicked the habit and all the good it's doing for your health and how can you not feel better??

Just go with it and enjoy it. That's what I'm doing! :toast:
