I just received a protege, and I need to get a back up unit.. I LOVE the idea of the GG SLIM.. nice, small.. cigarette size.

I am curious if vapor production and throat hit would be similar because both are running at 3.7 volts?

Would the only difference be that the slim would have less battery life? By about half the time?

Thanks for anyone that might now!

Hiya,
I can't tell you exactly how the slim compares to the protege because I haven't got a protege. However, someone did tell me that the protege is a similar size to the Grant, so thats actually a fair bit bigger than the slim. - The slim is TINY. :)

Performance is excellent as you get a decent 3.7V (more when the battery is fully charged) with no extra resistance created by additional wiring etc.

You can use cartomisers on the slim as standard, I don't know if this applies to the protege or not.

Battery life always depends on how you vape, you might get 3 hours out of a 10440 battery, you might get slightly more or slightly less, hard to say as each person is so different.

Vapn might be on later, he's got a slim and a grant and a protege so he can probably give you the proper low-down. (I do know that he was so happy with the GG devices that he is thinking of selling his protege - so that may give you more of a clue) :D

Hey, than you for the quick response! So, being in the U.S., do I order directly from the craftsman on here.. when they are in stock.. or is someone importing them to the U.S. for resale?
Thanks for the info!
Until Imeo has a US supplier up and running, yes, you would order direct from him when he has more slims in stock (probably within a week or two at most).

Sorry I am unable to supply to the US myself at the moment. :(

These GG products look excellent. That SUCKS you can't supply to the U.S. If these were in stock with a U.S. supplier, or available via shipping from UK.. I can only imagine how hot these would be.

Small, compact,.. good power.. I don't know what else people would want.. unless they were wanting 6V. Seems like a perfect e-cig to me.

I look forward to purchasing one of these very soon.

Imeo will either have a US supplier soon, or I will have to work out a way to supply to you guys. It's an insurance issue that prevents me from doing this legally at the moment, but I might be able to sort this out, watch this space.

Yes, the GG slim is the perfect portable device in every way.

Contact Imeo to get yours. It's a pretty simple transaction and you'll hopefully get it before Christmas.

Protege is bigger cause it uses a bigger batt, 14500, and vapes like all the other 3.7v on the market.

Switch is in nice place and good feel to it PLUS, Cash has just introduced a "manual" switch - no solder, PLUS PLUS, the usb passthru "addon" for it is SOooooo cool!!!

I believe the word you were looking for here was "Mechanical" lol.... but yea the protege is a veeery nice solid little device.

The size comparison is exactly the same length as the Grant. Diameter is smaller but still much larger than the Slim... see picture below.

Now as far as usefulness. The Slim is my pocket PV. I can unscrew the button slightly and it disables the device. I cannot do this with the Protege. The Slim is all mechanical meaning there are no wires or electronics parts to burn out or get stuck on. I had a problem with my Protege the first week I had it and had a slight pocket fire going on. Steve did a wonderful job of repairing it lickety split and since it has worked like a charm. The Slim is so easy to use it is almost natural that the button be on the bottom. I find myself holding it in many different ways. Any way I grab it I can activate the button. With the Protege I have to find the button and actually push it all the way in to get it to fire. That is actually designed that way so aleviate any chance of it getting pushed in your pocket. I have never had the Protege go off in my pocket by the button being pressed. Only the time it got stuck on. But comparing the two is like apples and oranges. The Slim is in a class all it's own. The perfect pocket PV that I take with me everywhere I go. The use of the cartomizer makes it last a long time too.

Battery life is where the Protege does come out on top. The 14500 being a 900 mAh battery lasts me almost 6 hours. Where the Slim if I use it exclusivly I will only see about 3 hours from the 10440 500 mAh battery. But the batteries are so small I almost don't know I have a few in my pocket as spares.

But I think the two devices are about the same for the vapor production and throat hit. Depending on the atomizer and juice of course.

Now the Grant is my new favorite device because I can go 6v with it and it still remains a small device. The button placement is perfect. I can hold it by the end or which every way I want and still get to the button. It may look goofie but it is the most functionally placed button in my lineup. With the top button devices you have to use your thumb or finger tip... WIth the bottom button you can use your palm, your pinky or whatever part of your hand you may feel like using at that moment. I was apprehensive when looking at pictures of the GG but as soon as I spent the day with it I was hooked for sure.

I hope this little review helps the OP with their questions about the two devices with a little pitch for the Grant as well.... keep making the Grant Imeo PLEASE.... what a nice little device this is.

Now for a pic....

I really appreciate your guys advice. I REALLY like the protege.. only have had it for 24 hours.. works great. BUT,... if I am going to get a backup unit.. I was wanting to see what else was available.. try a different option.

The GG SLIM looks perfect for me.. nice, compact, and I was thinking EXACTLY what you were thinking about extra batteries. No big deal throwing a few extras in the pocket to get through the day.

Will be ordering one of these soon.

ONE question - I am using the 510 atomizers with the protege, so I would imagine I would need to get the adapter to use 510 on GG. My question is, I hear a lot of talk about using cartomizers with the GG. What exactly is a Cartomizer? Like a atomizer and cart as one unit? Disposable atomizer? Expensive, just more convenient?

You are welcome... always happy to help out...

The cartomizer... You are right... disposable atomizer with a cart built in... or on as the case may be...lol. But I think they are not really expensive because you CAN refill them quite easily. Pop the cap off the end and drop some juice in there and go. They hold (almost) 1ml of juice. You can also drip directly into the battery hole for a quick blast... I do both actually. You can find empty cartomizers for around 8 bucks for 5 of them and they will last you for about two days or better depending on how much you use them. They keep on working but will have a noticable drop in vapor production and flavor... I will usually get about 20 to keep on hand.. The flavor of your juice is totally awesome in them too. The throat hit is also quite a bit better also. The carotmizer just fits the slim for its size and its lasting ability. They are the only cart I will use because you can vape all of the juice from them. Nothing like a regular cart deal...

Have a nice day...

Peace.... O and glad I could help with the terminology....lol...:D:D

The Protege is a good device. It vapes very well as long as you don't have either switch or adapter problem.

But the Slim is a totally different concept. It is the smallest Mod and the cutest. And guess what...It vapes as much if not sometimes better than its bigger cousins.

It is the ultimate mini 3.7V MOD IMHO.

The Grant on the other hand, is the future. Unless a new type of small 3.7 batteries is invented, the Grant will be the perfect solution ever for 3.7V or 6V or 7.2V vaping.

It is as small as the Protege, only a little wider in diameter, but offers so much versatility.

If I have to go out, and couldn't take with me but one device...I'll take the Grant without the slightest hesitation.

Best so far...until the GGTS is out...Then...Game over...hehe

hI Des

yes, you got it eactly right,

a cartomizer is excatly what it sounds like

a cartridge with an atomizer incorporated into one piece

these are also -- lovingly called - cartys -

I adore these cartys,
they are clean, and convenient to use-

I bought a few--- and I use them all the time-

they are brilliant---- cheeeep enough
and they are refillable about 8 times-
and with each fill - you get about 3 hours of smoking ---
the taste with these is excellent-
and the smoke production is brilliant.....

overall--- yes, favourite in vaping bliss for me -----:):)
