Any idea why I keep getting that horrible burning taste?

I've recently been using the VV Ego e-cig (http://www.vaporized.co.uk/shop/batteries/1300mah-variable-voltage-battery/) with these clearomisers *SPECIALOFFER* 10X 5X 2X CE4s Atomizer Clearomizer Clear Atomiser UK Shisha that I got from ebay. They looked fine when I got them. Brand new but they have thread inside (which the previous ones I bought didn't).

Yesterday, I started getting that horrible burning taste but I'd only had that clearomiser on for a couple of days. So I switched it over to a brand new one last night. I give it time to soak before using it and it was fine at first but now it's got that burning taste. I've had this problem before with a different batch of clearomisers I bought. They were fine at first, but all of a sudden, they seem to be giving off that burning taste quite soon. I'm not vaping any more now than I was. I've tried switching over the bottoms as I have a Diamond Mist e-cig which is very similar.

So any idea what's going wrong? Sometimes, when I switch it off for a bit and then try later, it will be ok for a while but then go back to the burning taste. Sorry, I feel like I've said burning about 100 times in this post! But it's really annoying.

At a guess, you have gotten some bad ones, or they were cheaply manufactured. What kind of juice are you using? They really ought to last more than a couple of days, but a week might end their life. Those CE4s are great for what they are, but they're essentially a disposable product.

When I used those CE4's eons ago I had to open each one up and look at the coil, some were a jumbled mess of wraps, some uneven wraps and overlapping wraps. I had to learn to re-adjust those coils so they would vape nice. Go into youtube, search CE4 clearo and see what the coil is suppose to look like vs what it looks like in your atty. If yours don't come apart and are the disposable ones then you take the mouthpiece off, pull the rubber cap out(needle nose pliers) then adjust the coil somewhat if you can with a thick pin. This works best if the coil is brand new and unjuiced.

you're chain vaping too fast for the wicking to keep up at the power level you are running.

It is not the coil or the mod. It probably how you are vaping it. Of you are holding the mod straight up and down you will get the juice that is only on the wick. Those are top feed wicks. Tilt the mod up like you are taking a drink and you should have a more pleasant vape. Reason is so the juice can flow onto the wick.

As the skullblade says, it's a top coil device and as such requires tilting prior to every draw you take. When it's full of juice, it works somewhat well, it's a bit dry vape but vapable. As the liquid level goes down in the thank, you have to start tilting the device so you get that top portion of the wick soaked with juice, otherwise it will burn.
I would suggest switching to a clearomizer like Evod or similar ones with bottom coil design. Much more pleasant vape and no dry hits.
I'm not sure what kind of resistance is on those CE4 coils, but i'll guess it's around 2.0 Ohm, and for that resistance you don't want to go over 3.7V otherwise you will burn that wick pretty fast, like you just did ;)

Sorry I'm still clueless with some of these questions. I had a look at the label on the juice I have but all I can see is that it has 6mg/ml nicotine (I bought it here £1 Blackcurrant E Liquid | 10ml Blackcurrant E Cig Liquid | UK Made - LiQuid)

I think milandjikick and skullblade789 could be right. I was getting that burning flavour this morning, then I decided to tilt it for a while so that the liquid ran up the sides and now it's fine again.

I want to upgrade to something different, something better but just can't decide which because it's not like you can try before you buy generally. I also have the Innokin Endura T18 but that's too warm a vape for me so my husband uses that. I just don't want to spend too much more than £20-25 on it.

I have some theories @susan_1981

Cheap CE4s are OK as long as you keep down the power, vape slow and allow the juice to sloosh around the tank.

You might find the Aspire K1 vapes nicely on the VV eGo battery. OK, so it's an £8 tank, but you can pick up the coils for about the same price as a disposable CE4.

b.t.w. If you bought 6mg liquid from the one pound shop, it will be 50% VG and that could be a little too thick anyway for CE4s. I did once vape 70% VG in a CE4 but it took a long time between puffs.

Yes, milandjikick and skullblade789 were exactly right. Because it's a topcoil, the liquid has to travel up the wicks so all you need to do to make sure your coil keeps from going dry is to tilt the tank; give it a swirl occasionally.

As for the Endura T18, how hot or cool it is depends on what coil you use.

I have the Nautilus Mini and I am amazed at the trouble free service it has given me so far. Vaping through a serious amount of e-Liquid and have not changed an atomizer yet. With it being a bottom feed I was wondering what might happen when the tank starts to run low but still no issues as of yet. :vapor:

Whatever you buy, do not go for Subtanks and similar stuff if you like the draw you are getting from CE4. Subtank and all it's siblings are waaay to open draw for you then. Endura T18 gives regulated output at 14W so no matter what coil you put in it, it will always be same warmth. But, the thing that surprises me is that you say Endura is too warm, and CE4 is not? As far as i can remember, CE4 was pretty warm vape, because of that top coil design. If you like cooler vape, then my sincere recommendation would be Evod glass, or Protank mini 3. They all fit EGO style batteries perfectly since they have EGO connection, and they are both bottom coil, which means a moderate cool vape and no dry hits unless you don't push the power on them too far. I had a first version of a Protank mini 3 and first version of Evod (the plastic one) and they were both much better flavor wise then mini Viva or Ego Ce4+ (the one with changeable coils) and could sustain higher power. The newer version of Protank comes with OCC coils (organic cotton) and i'm not sure what kind of coils Evod uses now, but i know that the old version was cracking plastic at the joint of a mouthpiece and a tank, but the new version is made of glass and metal and should be much more durable.

Hi, @susan_1981. I'm pretty new at this too, and I also liked the CE4s a lot. The Apollo Starter Kit I had came with 2 great ones and when I ordered more that looked like the same design, only cheaper, they didn't work nearly as well. I tried the Aspire K1 (available through Ebay for less than $15, sometimes less than $10) with a 1.6ohm coil and the difference is beyond belief. I chose the K1 when I saw those were what all the employees at my local vape shop were using. After buying it and loving it, I started checking online and YouTube reviews, and I'm convinced it can't be beat for eGo batteries at any price. I did drill my airflow holes to a bigger 2mm diameter, but used it for 2 weeks just fine with the stock holes for mouth to lung hits. Really, the only reason I went bigger was for direct lung inhaling. Check out reviews for the Aspire K1. I'd be very surprised if you found a bad review anywhere for it. Most reviewers are used to superior sub ohm systems, yet all reviewers I've read or watched were very surprised and impressed by the value, performance and flavor of a K1. I am too. Good luck, and happy vaping!
