Any negative side effects from e-cigs? HELP

Wow! Thanks for all the input and experiences. It looks like I'll just have to go with the lesser evil and get with the e-cig. If I'm only gonna be using it when drinking and 0 nic, then I guess it doesn't matter too much anyway. I've been out of the vaping loop for a little while, so would anyone know of any new e-cigs out on the market that are good? I've heard of the new tank cart systems where you fill up a compartment inside the cartridge without the filler material. Are those any good? Or would do they leak a lot? Also, any good juice vendors? I'm looking at the moment to get a strong tobacco flavor since I'm just now getting away from the real thing again.

Yeah, hard to believe that e-cigs could be an alternative to smoking and work.
Stick to the pills that could make you suicidal.

Though this site certainly isn't a scientific study you'll certainly find most folks having success at not smoking after trying all the stuff that's supposed to work but didn't. Much higher success rate if the opinions of folks here mean anything.

And I'm one of them. Tried the big pharma stuff and smoked for decades. Now smoke free for a couple months without a craving or suicidal thought. E-cigs have done what nothing else could do for me.

Ok cool. I've read that VG is a bit harsher on the throat, and it sounds like as long as I get some high quality PG juice from somewhere, I'm good to go. I read that the cheap juice can contain diethlyene glycol which I don't really want to inhale along with trace amounts of nitrosomes.

It is actually PG that is harsher on the throat. VG is what people use to mellow it out.

That's good to hear! I've heard people complain of getting strep throat after a couple months of using e-cigs. But I think that's from dirty atomizers. My brother tried my old e-cig one time, after I stopped using it (disgusting because he just picked it up from where it was sitting and started puffing away) and he ended up with an upper respiratory infection ha. Here's a link to a new study I came upon.

Study finds e-cigarettes affect airways, and quickly: MedlinePlus

The big "LIE" from this article and the person conducting the study:

"If you're trying to quit," Vardavas advised, "stick to the methods that are known to work."

Those, he noted, include nicotine patches and gum, prescription medications like bupropion (Zyban) and varenicline (Chantix), and counseling.

Since when does a 93% failure rate in smoking cessation from these products consistute "methods that work"????

More BS from Big Pharm and the lackeys they pay to do their studies.

Just a heads up, "0" nicotine will result in no throat hit and more like just inhaling air. It may still work for you.

I caught that nonsense, too. The author has an agenda. Someone should clue him in to the fact that those methods are known to FAIL in the long term. I define long term as more than six months.

My mucous has thinned after quitting smoking, and is clear in colour now. My lungs do not shudder when I inhale deeply since being tobacco free for only 6 days. No longer am I randomly coughing, nor am I using my inhaler daily. The only side effect that has been noticed is a bonus for this allergy sufferer, less sticky mucous, more slick like lubricant. This has caused the number of nosebleeds I get to drop, as well. My PV has potentially saved my life, my sanity, and the sanity of those who must suffer my ill temper when quitting smoking the old fashioned ways.

I find it dries my lips out and I use more lip balm then i used to. I'm not sure if the phlegm i am coughing up is from recently stopping smoking or from ecigs. I also find if i vape too much i get light headed from the nic rush. Just be reasonable about it, if your body isn't liking something it will tell you. Stop if something you don't like happens.

I have had pretty bad sinus issues with vapin and I know of 2 others with the same issues as me. If I stopped vaping the bloody painful stuffed nose issues went away, so that's what I did. Being forced to quite sucked but is better then dealing with painful bloody sinuses. The other two people also stopped vaping and there symptoms are gone as well.

How long after you quit vaping did your sinuses problems go away?

I had the same problems, less the nosebleeds, when I was vaping 80%PG. I switched to 20%PG and it all went away. Some people have a bad reaction to PG. I'm one of them. I can tolerate a little, but could never vape any more than 20%.
