Ya know, I started with prosmoke, and that was their advice exactly. Put it on the charger for 8 hours, regardless of when the green light comes on. It isn't going to take very many manufactorers putting out that advice for it to be accepted as conventional wisdom.

ETA: Prosmoke doesn't use eGo of course, but could still be the source of this nonsense.

I place mine in a pentagram of mech mods while chanting sub-ooohm sub-ooohm for 42 minutes. Then, seven drops of my best e-juice squirted over each shoulder, starting with the right one. Followed by cleansing each corner of my house with vapor using the batteries being initiated.

Then they're good to go. Getting rid of old batteries takes a good while longer.

I treat any Lithium battery the same as I would a laptop battery for the most part. I'd recommend reading BatteryCare - Proper laptop battery usage guide. Applies to laptop batteries, and references their software, but the theory is the same. It's the same with your phone battery now that I think about it.

My tips
1) Charge the battery, uninturrupted, to 100% when you first get it before use. Once it reports 100%, there's no point in keeping it plugged in, letting it rest after charging it cools down is beneficial but not worth being concerned about imo.
2) Avoid going <30% battery when you can. Charge more frequently, topping your battery off once or twice a day is better than one mega charge every 3 days for example.
3) If you're not going to use the battery for a long period of time (weeks, months), you want to discharge down to about 50%. Dont just store the battery at maximum charge, or at 5%.
4) AVOID HEAT, the hotter the battery gets, the shorter it's lifespan gets. For example, do not leave it in the car to bake under the sun.

Can't comment on recalibration as I'm only familiar with it on laptop & smartphone batteries where it corrects the battery's reported wear level so the software on the OS gives you accurate percentages, it does NOT extend the battery life so for an ecig it would be of little to no benefit.

You left out the part about hopping on one leg. And the rubber chicken.

That only works during the second full moon of the month. If it's only the first full moon, you need to change for 84 minutes, but sometimes, they still don't turn out quite right.

Laptop batteries go hand in hand with vaping. Granted all li-ion battery should be cared for along the same lines but a majority of laptop batteries are just a bundle of 18650 cells. Im going to kick my mod and run it off a laptop battery... Just think of the plume... And battery life...

Minor Details
If you haven't yet, invest in a multimeter. Preferably digital (easier to read), and get in the habit of checking your batteries voltage as you begin to notice a performance drop and after you take them off the charger. Keep them above 3.3V and make sure they don't come off the charger at more than 4.20V to maximize cycle life. Also, as mentioned, keep out of sunlight and away from heat. Do not use damaged batteries. Always use the appropriate and proper battery.
