I thought about replying to this earlier today, but decided against it. Seeing as how nobody has though, I'll go ahead and
throw in my 2 cents.
Eventually, the fluid will saturate both the atty and the filler to an equal amount, and stop flowing. The atty is surrounded by a material that can easily wick any fluids into it. Our problem is finding a filler that can hold the fluid tight enough without spilling, yet is weak enough to allow the atty wick to soak it up.
