In a house.
Nice post icemanmaz. I too would like the perfect Electronic Cigarette but it has'nt been made yet. In the meantime i have managed to go 2 weeks and 2 days without smoking a Real cigarette and i was smoking between 30/40 Cigs a day. If it costs me the same amount of money to smoke E- Cigs without the tobacco, Tar and Crap as it cost me to smoke the 30/40 Real cigs then i'm happy to do that but the fact is (there's that word again) that i have spent about a half of the amount that i would have spent on real cigs in that 16 days even with the inevitable duff batterys etc and have found i am smoking less. Also my blood pressure has dropped 20 points. I am old enough now to be able to think for myself and we all have varying opinions. But that is all they are. Opinions. E- Cigs are working for me so far and that's all that matters to me. I don't see any point in fighting about it. I may be an Android but i'm not stupid. I also happen to believe in taking one day at a time.

Wow! Entertaining thread.:p

Back to the subject, my experience with a mini ecig is very different from the thread starters.

One month ago I bought a starter pack, I've needed no spares until today, when I stupidly blew out a battery with my air line after the "switch" was sticking slightly.
Big mistake, it now won't turn at all so I stripped it down but unfortunately cannot fix it.

I was smoking 25g of rolling tobacco a day, this has totally replaced the baccy, I smoke it quite heavily but still find the spare battery is charged and ready when the other one fails.(I use a car charger alot which seems to charge them quicker)

So to sum up, one starter pack, no spares, a few packs of cartridges but mainly Malboro e liquid has lasted a month.

£200 - £300 to start? Get outa here!;)

Hi Callan, you are very lucky and must have a extreme good e-cigarette.
Day over smoking around in office I am not able to get over the day with 2 batteries. Without 2 spare atomizers, 2 chargers and 2 spare batteries I would not have been able to drop the pyros. I even e-smoke in the car commuting to work, in the evening in front of the computer etc.
I would say $100 - $200 (USD not £), for the man/woman of luxury more. :p

I would say that anyone on a tight budget looking to quit cigs could do it fairly reliably with two generic starter kits - that's two atomisers, two chargers, four batteries plus some cartridges. You'd just have to buy eliquid for topping up and that package could last a few months. So that's £52 to start, plus juice. Much cheaper than smoking cigs.

(£52 is the cost of two eco kits, either RN4072 or DSE901 from Electronic Cigarette | Free Yourself... | e-cigs Welcome That's the best deal I've seen in the UK.)

one thing anyone new to e cigs should know is the initial joy of finding a way to get off the killer tobacco habit wears off..

when it does and the buying spree is also over the niggles seem to mean lot more..

my buying spree is over.. my initial joy is over.. my niggles have gotten worse.. all i now want is an e cig that works in the same reliable way as my (our) roll-ups did..

i have to keep two people going with e cigs.. myself and my mentally handicapped schizophrenia suffering eldest son.. we are both heavy nicotine addicts..

part of me says all i have to do is use a 901 device and a pair off batteries every week and then bin them.. the miserly part of me makes me try and get the longest life out of the things as i can before they go in the ever growing pile of not quite dead but then again not really healthy parts bin..

its a lifetimes habit of frugality.. in moments of greatest frustration i have made the decision to thow them away after ones weeks use but cant seem to stick to it..

the part of e smoking that bothers me the most is the gradual degradation of both the atomizer and the batteries.. i know the 901s i use work okay for the first week.. after the first week it all gets muddled.. atomizers produce less vapour and battery run times drop off..

battery run time is more important when away from home and the charger.. but the pressure switch gets dodgy and unreliable as well..

it is purely a financial thing.. but i still keep going thru the indecision phase.. i just dont like throwing one away if it kinda seems to be working..

i wish to hell the things just died an obvious death.. a built in self destruct after one week is what i need..

real cigs die an obvious death.. e cigs just kinda cease to work as well.. knowing quite when they should be sent to the e icg rest home in the sky is my main e smoking problem i think.. a built in meanness dosnt help.. he he..

I do so understand your growing frustration, which I share. Believe me when I say this is the major reason I favor a true disposable that delivers like a real cigarette, same way, every use for a measured period of time. Then chuck it. I even want a throwaway power setup. Note that I didn't say battery. I don't want a battery of any kind. The heating element could be powered from something resembling the wind-up flashlights and radios for emergency use, but without a windup crank, of course. Maybe a plunger action: Plunge the e-cip tip up and down on a table (or the back of the hand as we once did cigarettes) before using and that action would generate enough power to heat the atomizer in the throwaway cartridge. Something really, really simple and cheap. The cobbled-together mess we have now desperately needs rethinking.

Exactly what I was looking for, Kate, but they only post in the UK. :p

As an american looking to kick my very sporadic but worrisome habit, what would be a good budget option I could get here.

I smoke only two or three times a week, and I do want something with some kick on the nicotine side of things. Can I safely ignore the fact that these seem to give out quickly for folks smoking two packs a day?

Anyone, what is a good U.S. option that looks and feels like a real cigarette won't break a poor student's budget, and will stand up to occasional use?

apart from the odd dead on arrival product u can expect a good cheap generic to last a reasonable while for occasional use.. it is the two packs a day people that kill em off quick.. they dont wear out when they aint being used..

The most realistic looking e-cig on the market is the 89mm super-mini. it's 89MM long, 8mm diameter, and weighs only 10gr. You can get it from ePuffer for about $80. Be warned, though, the smoke is a 2.5 on scale of 1 - 5, AT BEST, the cartridges only last 20-30 puffs each, and the batteries only last about 2 cartridges. So you sacrifice a lot of performance for the small size and light weight.

Hi Trep, welcome to the forum.

I'd suggest that you have a look at the mini ecig at Puresmoker.com. This is the highly thought of DSE901 from a good supplier who will look after you well. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-cigarette-suppliers-forum/531-general-list-suppliers.html

That's $49.95 USD plus postage. There are other good suppliers too that you might want to try. Myecig.com and Esmokeytreats are sometimes recommended too.

If you aren't trying to give up a habit you should only need one kit, it's not a big deal to wait a day or two for delivery of replacements if anything breaks. If you can't do without an ecig then another kit would be handy.

Good luck with it.

Well folks its my first post and i thought it would be well placed here,As i have been E-smoking for 2 months now and the only kit i have bought to date is :- Black Mini Full E.Cig Kit...from Pillbox theelectroniccigarette.co.uk £59.99 5 bottles of E-juice(1x Medium 2x High 2x XXHigh). £9.98 each from e-cigs.co.uk THATS IT !!!! And I was a 20 - 30 a day smoker.(drum tabacco) And now I have the mini stuck in my mouth all day long and most of the night. Only rinsed the atomizer out about twice in that period aswell. I havent had any problems with Batteries ,atomizers, Liquid's Battery life hasn't degraded that much that i've noticed. I do have one on charge on my P.C USB charger at all times or in the car when out. I think its all down to the strength of the hit. I mix the XXstrong juice with the weaker stuff for a strongish hit, drip smoke in one of the atomizers and a cart in the other, unscrew swop it over when i get bored of dripping and have a hastle free smoke on a topped up cart for around twenty mins or so. Batteries tend to last 2 to 4 hours at a time so i swap the only 2 i got over quite a few times in a day but it dont really bother me that much. So in all i've have managed quite happily with 2x Atomizers,2x Batteries the same carts i got with the kit and a few bottles of Juice for 2 months and still got loads of juice left. And i considerd myself to be a bit of a heavy smoker Lol ) And like I said before the DSE901 hardly leaves my lips for about 19 hours a day. So dont spend to much at first like the sensible people have wrote. Happy Vaping Folks!!!
