I have several of these (Lenmar part #PPUMINI), and use them with an adapter I made (an M401 charger with the battery connector exchanged for an RCA connector, and a RS tact switch). They don't produce as much vapor as the Kensington battery pack I carry in my coat pocket, but they work very well. I don't imagine they would power something that was designed with power regulation built-in, but I and several others in the forum have used them successfully.

Again I foolishly thought I was the only one who came up with this Idea...

And I know very well that any great idea has more than likely already been thought of.

Anyway, this was my first mod, I thought of this completely on my own. I tore apart my diy usb adapter/passthrough to make this as well.

I fond that the PPUMINI works very well although I was expecting a bit more vapor production but since buying some VG from walmart and cutting my juice vapor production is not really a concern anymore. More or less I just wanted an alternate backup power source and was able to make just that. It works while plugged in and charging itself, and works on the go.

I have not tested it to see how long the charge holds with regular use. I try not to let people see me vaping on my emergency cell phone charger. I just hate to have to explain it all.

The best part bout this mod is retaining the PPUMINIs original functionality as well. So I didnt give up one thing to create another. I gained another feature and use for an existing device. Unfortunatly when I finished this mod and went to use it for the first time, I went to push the button and start it up.....no button. I forgot that part but was able to remove a momentary push button from a laser pointer and fit it in the PPUMINI.

My next idea for the summer is a solar powered Joye 510. I have a 6v panel and 4.8v panel I can change the mA on. Not sure they would work though.

Here is a picture of the finished PPUMINI mod. Not all too pretty but very functional.

I couldnt find the edit button for my post so sorry about that.

Anyway after reading this thread again I thought I should have noted how I did the mod.

I left all the orignal stuff inside in tact. I opened the device up, solder in a positive and negative wire to the solder points on the usb out. I put the momentary push button on the negative wire, was the easiest since the empty space was ont he side I put that wire. I ripped apart a battery from my old Blu Cig ( Garbage, Junk, Crap ) and removed the connector where the atty goes, soldered in the wires from the PPUMINI and expoxied it in place. The rubber around the battery connector is a grip from a pen. Looks alot better than it did without it lol. Everything on it works fine. I see no reason to have to connect directly to the battery or even remove the usb port. I did have to cut a bit off the circuit board near the ecig plug just to get it to sit right. So if you dont mind having the plug extend off the battery pack there is no reason to destroy any of the functionality of it. it works while plugged into the usb cable to charge and works on the go ( sorry if I already mentioned that )
