Any other vapers out there that aren't previous smokers?

Never touched a cigarette in my life, honestly. A couple of my friends took up vaping though, I hit their mods every so often, and liked getting the taste, clouds, and nicotine. Wondering how common non-smokers turn into vapers. Anyone else?

At first I assumed that was non-smoker vaping friends but now that I think about it, more likely it was smokers, wasn't it?

I expect some non smokers might pick up vaping from their (former)-smoker friends but I'd be concerned about especially young people picking up vaping at this early state of affairs.

The anti-freaks would sooner find a poster child to pin up.

I worry about younger kids picking vaping up as well, just turning 19, I could have definitely seen myself younger and doing/wanting to do this. And for the record, they were both non-smokers, turning into vapers the same way I did.

I started vaping a couple months ago when I picked up a disposable in a tobacco shop where I was looking at pipes with a buddy - I had asthma as a kid, so smoking pipe on social occasions is out of the question, so I figured I'd give it a try. Since then, I've gotten myself and two buddies(also non smokers) hooked on vaping with simple egos, just upgrading to something better now!

Ah, speaking of athsma, I have a severe condition of it, yet vaping doesn't effect me at all for some reason. But hey, whose arguing?
At first I wasn't sure if I should inhale, so I was treating the vaporizers like you supposedly treat cigars and pipes - into the mouth and out the nose, just for taste, throat closed - but I decided to try inhaling, and other than the initial sharp tingling of the nicotine or whatever, same as I got in my nose, no problems

PG is a main ingrediant in athsma inhalers. ;)

PG has been used as the aqueous-based chemical additive in asthma inhalers and nebulizers since the 1950s, with no serious side effects known. PG, because of its water-retaining properties, is the compound of choice for delivering atomized medication. It is also a common diluent for injectable medications, constituting 40 percent of the intravenous form of Phenytoin, an anti-seizure drug.

Just my own opinion here, but unfortunately I don't think non-smokers who take up vaping will get a warm welcome from most of the community for a while. One of the biggest arguments being used against vaping right now is that it's a way to attract non-smokers and is going to get all the non-smoking kids hooked on nicotine.

Personally, my view is the more the merrier. But until the science is more established about the safety of e-cigs, many vapers are going to be wary of associating the scene with non-smokers who jump into vaping.

I personally don't avocate non-users(never having smoked at all) of cigarettes to use ecigs. I simply do not understand why you would want to pick up a habit that to most of us had/has deadly consequences. It is an all emcompassing addiction, not just the nicotine. It is also a behavorial, emotional, and social problem. If you don't suffer from an addicting personality why do you wish to partake? Just to be cool? Please help me understand why you would want to do this. I just don't get it.

I've smoked, but when I picked up vaping I had already quit for a few years. Not sure if that counts :D. Then I basically saw an e-cig and thought "I could enjoy it again without the side effects that made me quit?"

Im kinda in the same boat. I smoked as a teen and quit off and on. Being in the Army and deployed had me smoking almost a pack and a half a day so when i quit last time it was ruff. Im a pretty heavy smokeless tobacco user as well so i plan to use my vape to ween myself off of nicotine. Any other dippers use a vape for this reason?

I think it's enough for someone just to take a liking to it. I love smoking pipes and cigars. Are they great for you? No. But it's something I enjoy doing apart from just getting the nicotine. You can make a hobby out of pipes, hookah, or cigars just like you can with vapes. Not to mention social interactions with others who enjoy the same interests you do.

Unless there is a purpose or reason for doing so, vaping is most likely too much of a hassle for anyone who isn't trying to quit smoking.

I really can't see anyone who takes up vaping for other reasons sticking with it for very long unless...

--They are finding it an effective way to keep from snacking or chewing their fingernails into non-existance
--They need to find a safe way to use nicotine for things like ADHD or ulcerative colitis
--Yeah, couldn't think of another reason

So I guess I doubt that many of the tiny fraction of vapers who took it up for no reason are still around to answer this question.

I have two buddy's that quit smoking a couple years ago using a pharma approach. I had a bad reaction with the drug therapy method and turned to using PV's. This method worked to get me off the cigs. Now both of them started back smoking a few months ago.

They tried my PV and I got them set up with a couple ego twist/Evods and they love it. Wished they would have gone this way from the start as the other method was expensive with Dr. visits and medication and in the long run did not address the psycological reasons they smoked. Vaping has been a great option for them as they would have gone back to full time smoking.

It is also the only ingredient in some eye drops and is an ingredient in flavorings in children/baby medicines.

I commonly hear that if e-cig usage is allowed to grow at its present rate, within 20 years only 5% of recreational nicotine users will be smoking tobacco to get it. I hope that comes true, and—for the sake of discussion—let us assume that it does ... if we assume that the typical age for a smoker to convert to e-cigs is 20, and if we further assume that vapers live, on average, to age 80, then vaping itself will die out in about 80 years, for lack of enough smokers to convert to make the industry viable.

Since I'll be gone to my reward long before then, I'm just vapin' away, enjoyin' the day.

Of course, in 80 years time recreational nicotine itself may become irrelevant in favor of something new ... as DuPont used to say, "Better things, for better living, through chemistry".
