In my opinion if much rather see a vaper than a smoker, but if you dont do either to begin with then really why start? Good hobby I guess, I don't know. My friend who quit smoking about 7 years ago just started vaping last month.
I read in my local paper that there is a huge increase In middle and high school students using ecigs which is definitely not good for the FDA

I once felt this way myself. I was worried how the FDA would look at non-smokers taking up vaping. However, vaping can be done without nicotine involved, as my daughter proved to me.
My daughter has never smoked. For her 18th birthday, her request was for her own mod setup. Her brother is a smoker, her BF is a smoker, and several of her friends are smokers. Considering the people that she spent a lot of time with, I was fearful of her picking up the habit herself. She only wanted to vape NO NICOTINE flavors.
I got her an advanced starters kit with NO NICOTINE flavored e-liquid. Within a couple of months, her brother, her BF, and a couple of her friends had gotten their own e-cigarettes in order to QUIT SMOKING. Even her mother gave vaping an attempt to quit smoking.
I found it is better to look at the big picture for the greater good than to judge others. Because of my daughter's influence on the above people because of her vaping, she has gotten several smokers to quit smoking.
Underage kids will always have some type of access to either cigarettes or e-cigarettes despite laws forbidding minors to use them. More investigation needs to be done to find out how minors get their hands on adults-only substances. On the other side of the coin, I'd rather see them vaping than smoking. There is absolutely no evidence or proof of the notion that e-cigarettes will be a gateway to smoking. This myth is hog wash perpetrated by the anti-smoker groups.
I've seen couples come into my local vape shop, where one is a smoker wanting to quit, while the other partner is a non-smoker who wants to show support to help his partner to quit by joining in the activity by using NO NICOTINE flavored e-liquids. This type of support can help bond the couple more closely and I believe could add to the success of the smoking partner, with minimal if any risks involved for the non-smoker partner.
I knew I would ruffle some feathers, and I see where you all are coming from. But I have witnessed first hand a few guys come into our local B&M, buy a setup, order highest nic juice they can get, none of them have ever smoked and their words to me were "we just do it for the nic buzz". That is not a good reason to do it either!!!
Is that less healthy than analog nic buzz?
No, but I don't know about you when I started smoking it wasn't for a nic buzz. It was to be cool.....period.

My 16 year old sister was smoking half a pack a day until we bought her a vape. Yes, I know she isn't 18, but her friends kept getting her cigarettes, and we have tried everything we could to force her to quit short of forbidding her to attend school. I believe in age regulation, but at some point, even with teens, you need to go the harm reduction route. Especially since moving said teen from NY to Mississippi to stay with relatives over the summer didn't work. She's a good kid otherwise. She just won't stop smoking. Until she got a vape anyway.
