Any reason to choose a carto tank over a protank or something similar?

i own a k100 and x6 like the OP and use carto tanks on both of them... although i use my RDAs more on my k100.

the more carto tanks you own, in my case at least, the less you tend to need to change cartos if you rotate enough. i find myself only changing out maybe 4 cartos a month. luckily i did a bulk purchase of cartos earlier this year and still have a few boxes left. when i do order more cartos its because of people like baditude linking ones i havent tried yet.

heres my office desk lineup of artemos/udcts. pulled my x6 out of my car and stuck a tank on my k100 just so you can see how it looks. happened to have my pisces with me today too(just got new batteries for it)

if you get a carto tank that sits flush on the x6 it actually has the perfect amount of draw without making it too tight or airy. then again thats just my preference.

most of my clearos/BCCs/Novas/T3s etc... found new homes with friends and family.

If you want to get a carto tank get one from ibtanked, they are awesome.

BUT, the issue lies in cartos themselves. IMO almost all cartos out now have horrible QC issues. Its really hard to find ones that are good that fill and don't burn.

After starting with the 510 back in the day, going to VV/VW devices, carto's, carto-tanks, vivi novas, Protanks, I have recently switched to mech-mods with RDA's. I don't think I'll ever go back. (my Provari is collecting serious dust at the moment) It is work at first and requires a little electronic knowledge but the payoff is huge. Better vapor and cheaper.

Started with a Protank and glad that I used it to learn how to vape. Baditude completely changed my vape forever with his posts about cartotanks. Once I got over the learning curve, the vapor production and flavor as well as the ease of maintenance are incomparable. I use Boge F16 cartomizers, about $1.25 each. They last me between 30-50ml of juice. I was lucky if a Kanger coil head lasted me 10ml. Way too fiddly. Good luck and have fun!

Try both

Both are good, just different.

Either experience costs less than a fancy coffee splurge, and certainly less than buttered pop corn at a movie.

It's nice to have a variety of stuff to pull out of the vape kit. Sometimes it's the little things that can really help take the edge off a hard day...or spice up an already good day :)

So I was watching one of grimmgreen's videos about rebuilding a carto tank and I wondered, is there a compelling reason to choose a carto tank over a protank or i30 or something similar?

Are there quality carto tanks in the price range of the protanks and their cousins?

Honestly it is like asking what kind of juice you should like. Only you know what taste you like, and how much money you want to spend.
People can tell you prices, which is easier to rebuild, how long they last, even which ones might crack, but when it comes to tanks You got to pick which one you like and want to deal with. I love Kir Fanis Carto tanks (Tanks by Kir Fanis - Gr-Modders)
But I have a ProVari and that might be a ProVari thing lol
But my Innokin products came with them iClear 30 and iClear 30s. I am really liking the iClear 30s it's like the best of both worlds.
This review is on the VTR but at the end he talks about the iClear 30s A PBusardo Review & Contest - The Innokin iTaste VTR, holster, and new iClear30s! - YouTube

I think you might have to buy some different tanks see which one you like or want to deal with the most.

Those look delightful vicflo! What is the tank with the windows on the black mod? And what is the mod for that matter. :)

the black mod is an x6. the tank on it is an authentic smok pyrex DCT. the lower left silver one is a clone. for what its worth the actual smok branded one is much better quality as i already broke 2 of the clone ones. a big reason i tend toshy away from all glass tanks

Better is a subjective term. What's better to me, may not be what's better for you. I agree that I get more flavor from cartos. Plus my tank holds 6ml, so filling less often is a plus, too. Given that currently I only have 2 carto tanks, and I have several flavors that I enjoy daily, my protanks and T3Ss still get plenty of use. Although I love my carto tanks, I will always have protank or protank-style (Davide) stuff in my kit.

And how do you like the x6? Love the look of it, but I'm not sure about the semi variable voltage aspect. Does it recharge via an Ego charger or does it have a replaceable battery?
