Any recipe sites that break down based on my flavors?

Ah man Krythis... the bots have got to your site. Are you using a comments module or did you write that all yourself? You may need to add recaptcha or another captcha system. I added livefyre comments this week but I can't get their single sign on stuff to work so I may have to ditch it.... sucks because its really cool software. Don't want to have to make people sign up for another site, and it doesn't have voting anyway.

We keep working on the site though if anyone wants to look, diyRecipeBook

Thanks, we keep adding little touches. Soon I'm going to get off my .... and make a couple instructional videos for youtube so people have a better idea how to use the site. I really intend for it to be a central spot to track all of your DIY recipe needs... I.e. not just find new recipes but also keep track of mixes that you are working on yourself. So if you want to develop a new flavor, create a recipe which will only show up in 'My Recipes', add the flavors the way you want to try them... Let it steep, give it a try, then when you decide 'Ahh, needs a tad less coconut and a little more menthol, all you have to do is change the percentage and mix up another batch without having to keep track of a notebook. When you finally get it right and want to share it, 'Publish' the recipe and share the link on ECF, that way other people can see the recipe, and mix a batch with a calculator that already has their nic base in it. No more typing all the ingredients in everytime you want to mix up a quick sampler. If you're going to mix a bunch of different juices, just open each recipe in a separate tab.

I set up an account at diyRecipeBook and I must say that is one cool site! :toast:

I inputted my on hand inventory (up to 47 lol) hit the search and not only did it tell me what I could make but gave me a list of other recipes that I was close to being able to make (missing some flavors or different vendors). That is one handy tool now I can see what to order! :D

All that is really needed is for those that have been around for awhile to post their favorite recipes - I like the fact that you can give credit to who created the ejuice as well as link back to it.

I can't impress upon you how much this is in development/alpha/beta/whatever you want to call it -- I call it a proof of concept on its way to being in development. Ya'll let me know what you think. I'm open to hear anything from design to calculation formulas, etc. It doesn't currently do most of what you would expect, so the first thing I need is an explanation of the general formula for this stuff (please don't point me to an excel document unless I can open it in ViM). I've tried to pick apart a number of these calculators, but I just can't seem to predict their outcome reliably.

If it sees enough traffic, I'll be getting it its own domain and unobtrusive ads to help with upkeep (adwords and the like)

Aww... Did the site die? I just tried to access it and nothing would open.

Just added a useful new feature. If you create a recipe on the site and want to share it on forums, click the BB Code button and hit ctrl-C... It creates a list of the ingredients with their percentages and puts a link to the recipe. This way everyone can see the recipe, and if you have an account at the site when you click the link and click 'Mix This' you'll have the filled out and ready to mix.

This is what the output looks like:
  1. Lemon Lime (TPA/TFA): 8%
  2. Hawaiian Punch (TPA/TFA): 6%
  3. Tutti Frutti (TPA/TFA): 3%
  4. Ethyl Maltol (GEN): 2%

Is the flavors inventory working? I can't get any flavors added to inventory.

Bunn..... I see that you posted this a couple weeks ago, but in case you haven't solved the problem, try using Chrome or Firefox rather than IE. I had the same problem as you and I shot a PM off to Ianferrell on here. He told me that IE doesn't play well. I switched over to Chrome and all is well!!

And to Ianferrell.... I have a suggestion for the site. It would be GREAT if the site could recommend the flavors to purchase to make more recipes. For example, I just got in to DIY and bought 23 different flavors from TFA. I entered them in the site and when I checked I found that I didn't have the ingredients to make a single recipe that has been published!! Closest I came was like 65%..... Now if the site had a feature that said "Hey!!! If you just buy this one ingredient, then you will be complete for these 7 recipes!!", it would save me tons of time!! Right now I have to open every recipe that I'm close on and write down the items I am missing (apparently if I just had some variations of Strawberry or just about any Cream flavor, I'd be GOLDEN right now....). That aside, I think the site is great and I love the concept of searching by ingredient!!! I do the same thing 3 or 4 times a week to figure out what's cooking for dinner!!

I just signed up. What a cool site, and I can just imagine how great it will be when people start adding more recipes. Even though I have the exact ingredients for only one recipe, I have no problem with improvising and hopefully coming up with some new recipes to add.

OK, off to concoct something wicked with that Hot Chili concentrate I had to buy

Yeah! Now that's what I'm talking about :D I was thinking of something a little sweet, a little (or a lot) spicy. Kinda like the hot pepper jelly I love to eat with cream cheese and crackers. Yum! This shoud be interesting

I am also new to the DIY side of this, I have mainly lorrAnne flavours, lemon, lime orange tangerine, etc. and the contact us is not working so I thought this would be as good a place as any to let u guys in on what I found
