As I have mentioned in a few posts, I am relatively new to vaping compared to most here. I scoured these forums for a while trying to absorb as much knowledge as I possible could. I can see how this can all be so confusing, intimidating and definitely overwhelming.

I dove right in and took a lot of advice from here. Along the way, I have a few regrets. A few of those are:

  • I regret not finding this place first. Otherwise, I wouldn't have wasted my $$ on gas station e-cigs. Yes, they were my gateway into quitting but I see many of my friends get so frustrated with them and go back to the cigs.
  • I regret not spending more money up front in the beginning. As I look on my desk, I see a few Protank 2's, a couple mini's, Ego type batteries and a bunch of other things I probably won't use again. When I add them all up, I could have bought another Reo. Fortunately, a good friend is going to get a nice Christmas present from me so they will be off my desk. The other good thing is that I learned a lot because of that stuff. So, that kinda equals out.
  • I regret buying some juices because they were on sale or without review. I have some that were just plain nasty when I got them and are still nasty a month later. Not all juice is created equal.
  • I regret not buying the Rio Grand first over the Provari. Don't get me wrong, I love both and they are both different. When I got the Provari, I didn't want to take it to the bar so I bought other things to suit that purpose. Had I bought the Rio first, my desk wouldn't have all the above mentioned gear.
  • Lastly, I regret waiting this long to quit. At 46 yrs old and 25 years of smoking, I have probably done some damage. Hopefully, not too much. I can imagine that I missed out on a lot of women who didn't smoke but smelled it on me. The upside is that I now go to the gym 5 days a week and have dropped 30 lbs in the last 2 months. The first month I was vaping and still smoking. The last month of only vaping has given me huge results.
Does anybody else have any regrets since getting into vaping? I know that if I had see this thread, when I first started reading, that it would have helped me. Hopefully, it helps the other new members and those still lurking.

Greetings; No real regrets, but if I went back in time by 3 months and started from scratch again with what I know now, I wouldn't waste time on eGo style batteries and on cheap mods.

the one regret I have is I, like so many others, fight the constant recommendations to skip the cheap stuff once you realize you want to keep vaping. could have saved a lot more then I already have.

Don't regret cigalikes except 510.
I pretty much depleted cigalike stock before modding.

I regret all my fasttech RTA purchases; work but junky.
Regret 1.5 of 3 FT tube mods; pretty good but needs serious tweaks.
Regret 1 of 2 FT RDAs.

Real AGA-T2 is great quality and I'm looking for another quality RTA; maybe AGA-TD.

I regret spending £60 on cigga like ones from the local shop, getting frustrated because 1 of those cartridges is not BLOODY LIKE 20 CIGARETTES !!!! ;-)

I'll second that. I've posted this before, I just started vaping right around the time I joined this forum. I didn't even know what vaping WAS until maybe a week before I placed my first on line order. I spent a few years on and off those gas station cigalikes, mostly wasted money and frustration.

Other than echoing the OP's point about waiting so long, I regret no knowing about the vape revolution sooner and thinking that convenience store cigalikes were the only game in town.

i have in the last week went higher end on stuff, and it is great, i dont really regret anything except the cigalikes. if i had not started with those, then on to VV batteries and iclear 30 tanks, i would not know how great my mvp2 and protank3 and kayfun clone are.

by the way the second gen kayfun clones are awesome at 45 bucks on ebay. just got mine in the mail an hour ago and have been vaping a 1.2 ohm coil with cotton wick that i made for it using pbusardo's how to video on youtube, and it is awesome

I currently prefer genesis atomizers or RDA with sub-ohm cotton wicks. Always on a mechanical device. Coil resistance usually between .7 and 1 ohms.

Primary Regrets:

-Every one of the dozens of cig-a-like devices I have bought since 2008. Particularly the RN4081 NJoy NPRO (my first device), and how it drove me to vape off of things like blue foam with drinking straws attached.

-Every cheap regulated device I have bought that is now dead. I have gone through literally an unacceptable number of $10-20 ego/kgo style regulated batteries. Somewhere in the vicinity of 40 dead devices in a drawer. Have easily spent over $1k on this crap.

-Every one of the hundreds of cheap atomizer/cartomizers/clearomizers I have used. By cheap I mean not intended to be rebuilt.

-Every juice I bought before I learned to mix my own. Thank you ECF paranoia causing me to stock up bulk nicotine in fear of a future ban/tax.

-Did I mention my paranoia? Well around the same time I was doing the whole tanked cartomizer thing. I ordered bulk 510 cartomizers from microcig (centraltrade.eu).. At the time they had a $600 minimum, so I got a few other things too (kgo batteris, clearomizers, lanyard, crappy juice) Everything from that order is just nasty garbage.

-My Chinese knock off lava tube I bought at a mall kiosk. This thing is just so poorly built its painful.

-Smoking for 6 years prior to vaping. Hopefully enough to justify all the $$$ and time on above list.

OP: I'll agree with your last point. Except I'm 60 and smoked on and off for 40 years. My son (also a smoker) had been vaping for some 6 months and convinced me to try vaping by buying me an eVic and a ProTank 2 (yeah, I love him, too). I've never touched an analog since. So agreed...wish these things existed since the 60's. God knows what I've spent since then, and come to find: I can breath again. You keep it up Too.
