Welcome to the ECF, and congrats on perhaps the best decision you could make! The first few days are the hardest, but they are doable! Just remember why you made the decision to switch over, and remember that you are not walking this path alone... there's a small army of us here on the ECF to back you up and help you along.
In regards to the batteries, they should be perfectly fine to charge overnight. Like others have said, the e-go and cig-a-like batteries have some form of built in protection to them.

You Have my sympathies. I lived in Lubbock for 7 years between Reese AFB (it was stilla ctive back then) and getting my degree at Tech. People who have never been out there have no clue what FLAT means or what high winds over that kind of FLAT can do. Only place I have ever seen it rain mudballs sideways. hahahahahaha
