Any veterant out there able to offer help with technique? My new Ego-T is punching me in the lungs... :)

Hello all!

First up, I'm very new to vaping but have been following this forum for a few weeks while I get all my gear together (and imported).

I’ve looked all over the forums and can’t seem to find a single person with my problem... everybody is always complaining about a low vape or low TH with different PV models, but nobody seems to be concerned that their hit is too big?.. I can produce enormous clouds of vapour with my Ego-T without even trying. My photographer housemate is gushing at the idea of being able to do a photo shoot with it because it looks so much better and more intense than smoke.

My use:
I’ve been vaping for 36 hours so far (no, not constantly, don’t be silly) and haven’t had a single analogue since my Ego-T arrived. I was a light smoker, about 10 analogues a day (unless I went out drinking, when it would turn into about 30). I smoked roll-your-own tobacco (Drum Gold).

Yesterday and today I’ve been using my PV about once every couple of hours – same times that I would have had an analogue. I breathe in very gently (lips soft against the mouthpiece) for 3-5 seconds into my mouth, let it sit there for a couple of seconds then breathe into the top of my lungs and slowly out through my nose. At the lung bit though, I feel like I’ve just taken the biggest .... hit ever experienced, and there’s a massive constriction in my lungs. It doesn’t exactly hurt, but it’s certainly not comfortable.

Even though I’m a light smoker I’ve been smoking for 11 years and never ever coughed. I’m also an asthmatic (yes, I know, I shouldn’t have been smoking in the first place... blame society, then thank the inventor of the ecig for potentially saving my life) and occasionally use ventolin inhaler (containing the steroid salbutomol) as a reliever. Other than that, there's no reason I should have a different experience to anyone else!..

My equipment:
Ego-T starter kit (“genuine”) bought from www.ecigswarehouse.com.au. They don’t state what type of atomizer it is, but based on pictures I think it’s a Type A (it tapers in at the end). The order form only says “eGo-T mega atomizer”. I followed all the forum advice for cleaning and priming and loading, etc, and I've had no problems with taste or airflow (except that there's too much!) or anything.

I use 33% VG / 66% PG ejuice from www.greenhouseone.com, and so far have tried the House Cola and Coffee flavours.

Both my units give me an identical experience (except the one loaded with coffee has a heavier vape, but I'm guessing that's because it's a darker juice?)

So what's up with my technique?

Okay, so the only logical conclusion is that my technique is wrong. I’m following the advice for new users, but is there a different way of smoking the eGo-T?? I obviously can take much shorter pulls which will result in a smaller vape (easily managed, no pain in the chest at all), but I’m worried about not getting a proper nicotine dose (as discussed in advice for new users) and thus be tempted to go back to the death sticks.

Also, why is everybody concerned about a low vape? Did I just happen to get the two most overactive atomizers in existence?!

Any advice / help??.....

I have a friend who had the exact same problem but for starters Dont let the vapor linger in your mouth before inhaling as in my experience it goes stale almost instantly I found this out while trying to blow smoke rings and coughed my head off.
With my friend who also suffers slightly from asthma it was just a matter of time , The longer you dont have an analogue for the more open your lungs will become IMO the vapor has the effect of opening the lungs and smoke closes them .
Just give it time , Vape more often with smaller pulls until your chest settles down.
I also am Aussie and use Greenhouse one for juice mabe try some softer flavours , I recon apple is the easiest to vape.
Good luck and the main thing is take it easy .

If you're worried about not getting enough nic and returning to cigs, then up the nic level and regulate the puffs (shorten them) to something that is comfortable to you. Also, 33%VG will give you more vapor than straight PG. You might want to order a higher percentage of PG with your next juice order if you don't enjoy the amount of vapor you're getting. You'll get used to it and will be able to regulate how much of a hit you get each time. Take smaller hits and more of them if you think you're not getting the nic you need. Actually, (personally speaking)....I work at having the problem you're having...but that's just me. I love large plumbs of vapor.

PS I forgot to mention greenhouse one standard boge carto's (not the ego ones ) are really the best way to vape and at 5 for 5 bucks they are a steal they can last for up to a month each and soo easy to use , no cleaning or fiddling around and they seem to allow more air with the vapor (very possibly milder than you ego atties)
Again good luck
