I've been suffering serious quality control issues with my Kanger pro tank atomizers recently, for the last three weeks to a month.

I'm buying these: Kanger ProTank & Evod Coil Replacement - 5 Pack 2.5 ohms

I don't understand the issue. I've been vaping on these things for months with my pro tanks, but in the last three batches (15 atomizers total), I've had to throw out pretty much every other atty for it dry wicking or burning, and not wicking even when filled and left to sit overnight. Even the ones that work have a shorter lifespan. Where I used to be able to use one for two to three weeks, I'm now only getting three to ten days out of them even when they work.

I don't know what's changed with quality control, but I'm frustrated and disappointed. As I said, I've been using them for months, more than half a year with no complaints, and suddenly I'm getting ....ty batches of attys that are leaving a bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively.

Anybody else been having this issue?

The newer kanger heads with clear silicone bottom post insulators= not very good :(
They definitely changed the insulators and I have noticed more muted flavor. They do not last as long as the other style did. Sad but true

someone suggested replacing the insulators with these when rebuilding....

I dont even know if this is possible but ive noticed air flow issues ive never had before using the last few packs of coils ive bought. If I tighten it all the way down on my provari it will literally not allow me to suck any air through the device. I ddidnt think this could be a coil issue but ive found that if I remove a wick sometimes it helps? Maybe just removing the coil, screwing it back in and then screwing it in differently on the provari is what actually changed the air flow but I dont know.

The guy in my local vape shop was taking about this last week when I stopped by. He said what was happening was the new heads with the new silicone grommets were causing air flow problems if the tank was screwed down a little too tight on the 510 connection. He said the positive pin/plug on the head that holds the positive leg of the coil was pushing up on the softer grommet and causing it to block the air flow.

I don't know what material these replacements are made of. Might be worth checking out.

They are the same as the older type grommets.

Here is a thread explaining the problem in detail.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/482938-kanger-protank-airflow-fix.html

There is an easy fix however. Just put an aero tank base on your protank and the silicone grommet issue will be solved.
they're only about six dollars and you'll have adjustable air flow along with eliminating the grommet air blockage situation.

KangerTech AeroTank Base - Sun-Vapers.com

The other super simple fix, is to screw a mini pro2 base on your protank...it fits and its ego type connection also fixes that grommet airflow problem and solves the gurgle problems too. That is what I've done and now my protanks can vape from full tank all the way to empty tank without any of the usual issues almost all bottom coil devices (not just kanger protanks) with 510 connections suffer.

I was having heads with no airflow and flooding (have always used 50/50 liquid). Decided to just jump on the tube to see how to rebuild them myself. Turns out it is crazy simple. Micro coil with cotton wicks and they all work magically smooth, 1.3, 1.8, 2.3 ohms on my builds. I also drilled out 2 of the air passages on the 510 connector to 1/16" and it turns out the local shop brought in a drill press because so many people were having trouble with the protank airflow they just drill the out almost as standard issue now.

mikey6,
No amount of drilling out the air holes on the stock kanger protank 510 connector will solve the silicone grommet blocking airflow issue.
The air flow resistance (partial or sometimes total blockage) happens within the 510 connector below the air holes, causing resistance of flow thru the center pin on the coil. This resistance of airflow can contribute to the tank pressure and flood the device. Even with the old style hard rubber grommets, the 510 connectors poor design on these bottom coil tanks is the main reason / cause of the gurgling troubles.

See the link it goes into detail with drawings etc...

LOTS AND LOTS of issues....I got the aero tank and the longer duel coils and OMG I have had absolutely NOT ONE problem. I have purchased the aero part for all my protank 3s and will be calling Kanger tomorrow to see if they will replace my other coils. i have had the same problem as you every other coil of the protank 3 has been bad but since getting the aero not one issue

if you're not going to modify the heads by cutting some of the rubber between the pin and the 510 connector out or full on out rebuilding them, the best fixes will be either an evod base to use on an ego connecting mod or the aero base for a 510 connecting mod.

personally, i've trimmed a couple grommets and a couple i've just cut some silicone tubing to length and used it since the diameter and wall thickness is slimmer. works great for me. you have to figure out what works best for you, obviously.

here's a discussion on the tubing i'm using... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/490677-possible-stinky-grommet-replacement.html

the link's in the first post if it's still valid.

LOTS AND LOTS of issues....I got the aero tank and the longer duel coils and OMG I have had absolutely NOT ONE problem.

I got the PT3 about three weeks ago and went through the two included heads in 6 days. However when I put in the new style "Tall" heads, which I had bought a box of 5 as back up, Low and behold the vape was/is incredible....I am still on my first head and it's vaping purrrfect. It's still showing 2.0 ohms on my MVP2 after almost two weeks....That's odd due to my heavy vaping(5-10 mls pd) Also my replacement heads are genuine Kanger as is my tank. Kanger tanks and coils are possibly the most counterfeited units out there and it's a no win situation for company and consumers alike. That is why Kanger is including scratch of security codes inside the boxing which can be verified online to establish rock solid proof of authenticity... As I stated at the start, my first two coils were unimpressive but these new, longer type coils are amazing and for me, very encouraging...:2c: --Dave
