Anybody else feel that ECF is important to help quit cigarettes?

Here in the UK smokers are hounded endlessly and treated like second class citizens. It is such a pleasure to come here and feel a part of something, and be in the company of others who enjoy inhaling nicotine laden vapour. Supportive and informative, no member here should under estimate just what a wonderful resource this forum is. Long may it flourish!

Fortunately, my husband & I got a "good" starter kit 3 months before I joined. But it has been a wealth of information, and I have switched to several different models, cartos, and juice. My husband who is not a member of ECF is still using our original purchase.

There is a lesson to be learned somwhere in here........ But seriously, I have learned alot.

I often question whether being on ECF makes me spend more money and turns vaping into more of a hobby (that I enjoy).

Would I be still happily vaping my original KR808D-1 kit and prefilled cartos? Or would I have gotten fed up with it all and gone back to smoking? Or would I have become bored with vaping and stopped everything?

If I try my old prefilleds now they taste like flavored urine and it no way compares to a good juice on a 306LR in my new Reo Grand. No way I would have discovered all the great vendors and products being developed daily and talked about here.

The support and understanding from the members here is priceless, but I still question my obsession with vaping. Do I really need to get a package a week of vaping paraphernalia to stay off cigarettes?

Does your husband get support from the knowledge and enthusiasm on ECF through you? Do you think he will give up vaping at some point? Does he vape less than you do?

I may have chosen my first PV without the help of ECF but I can't imagine succeeding this long and this well without ECF. The knowledge shared and gained here is so very valuable to long term success of quitting smoking. We joke often about all of our toys and desires to try new things but for many that is part of what helps them succeed in continuing to vape. We read all the time about people that successfully vaped for months that stepped away from ECF and soon found themselves smoking again. Community helps a great deal when attempting to quit any addiction and ECF is a fantastic community for those addicted to smoking cigarettes.

I think I have a slightly different perspective since it was never my intention to quit cigarettes as much as my intention not to spend another red cent on the ever increasing price of cigarettes.

I was introduced to the electronic cigarette via a social forum. Once I got one, I took to it immediately. The fact that I was already determined not to buy cigarettes is a huge factor to still using e-cigs 2 years later.

ECF is a great forum, and I've received a lot of insight on "all things ecig". The community of friendly, knowledgeable users are an invaluable support system to anyone even remotely thinking about using an e-cig. I especially enjoy the opportunity the forum allows me to share my minuscule knowledge.

But I discovered ECF after my initial purchase. And I'm certain I would have managed to fumble along on my own had I not discovered it. I've never been, what you call an "active participant"; I merely drop in periodically to get different perspectives from e-cig users, add my 2 cents and maybe pick up a tip or two. Then I'm off playing chess or offering unsolicited social advice on other forums.

Knowing ECF is here, though, makes being an e-cig user a little bit easier and I'm glad to be associated with this ever growing social phenomenon.

I didn't know anyone who used e-cigs when I started, and seen a ad in a magazine then googled it, and in the response it showed the ECF forum and I went into it to see what was going on. I'm glad I did otherwise their was no way to learn how to use them and fix problems and all the wonderful useful information. Thank goodness I found the site, its helped in so many ways.

This place helped me find a 510 kit 18 months ago ... after a massively disappointing Health E-Cig $15 kit. Since then, thanks to many people here, I have moved on to what I find to be my perfect set up.

I am here daily and am glad to have support when I need it, and give support when I can. Quite honestly I do not think you will find a more helpful forum on the internet for damn near anything!

Thanks everyone.

My sister was in town for Father's Day, just about two years ago now.
After dinner she pulled out an NJoy NPro and told me about it, then let me try it.

I knew immediately that I could make the switch.

So the next day I drove out to the nearest Pilot Travel Center and bought myself an NJoy NPro.
I put it together and gave it a rip, and it tasted like burnt garbage.

I got home and started Googling to see if I could find out what I was doing wrong, and wound up here.

I have no idea if I would have gotten things working well, and been able to switch, without this forum.
And I guess I'll never know.

But one thing I do know is that my sister, who never comes on this forum, is now back to smoking.

I tried to convince her to come on here and read and learn and get some help, but she didn't want to.
If I remember correctly, she said she wanted to do it her own way.

That apparently didn't work out so well for her.

I vaped for over a year before I joined ECF... but I had a few friends that helped me along the way... I do have to say, though, the knowledge of that little group of friends was very limited... I've found my juice of choice (BWB), an amazing mod (Prodigy V3.1), and my atty supplier of choice (Ikenvape). I've also learned about dripping, batteries, plane travel with e-cig gear, resistance/voltage/wattage, tank mods, bottom feeding, PV mods, the "atty resurrection", etc. etc. etc.... these are just the things off the top of my head... ECF has been instrumental for me!

Feel free to show us your appreciation by subcribing to the ECF. :D

$24 a year, you get a few perks, and it helps keep the forum running.

No pressure, though.

I actually did a few days ago. It's a pretty rare event for me.

ECF is great because of all the information... from who's a reliable seller, to what stuff is good, etc.

But, more important, is the that this forum is positive... I tried before to explain it, but don't think I did it very well. During my one serious quit before, I spent a lot of time on a forum where almost all we talked about was how miserable we were. It was positive in that we supported each other, but negative in that we were a group of people in misery trying to prop each other up. I'd see people who'd quit for a year suddenly having a crisis and it made me wonder whether or not it would ever get any better. (And then there was one forum that was so anti-nicotine that admitting you took a quick puff a friend's cig was instant expulsion.)

We have our moments here, too... I know I had mine when I thought I was safe with having a box of five attys for backup and all five failed within an hour. Not the most pleasant time... but I got a lot of support.

But mostly, we have a lot of fun here talking about liquids and mods and stuff, and that made quitting a lot more fun. Granted, e-cigs are a lot more fun than nicotine gum or patches in general, but you get my point.

Maybe not... I'm still not sure I've explained it well.
