Well I personally do love my Kayfuns, but I will tell you that I just got a Taifun, and I am absolutely in love with it! Super easy to build on, and the flavor is unbelievable....I bought an authentic Taifun GT (not cheap), but there are decent clones out there (check Ebay)....just make sure you get one with an SS deck...some of the cheapo clones had chrome-plated brass decks but I think those have all been phased out....

Taifun GT (or a clone) is my vote....

EDIT: I agree with the guys below....you should give your Kayfun clone another chance before switching it up....I am sure you'll get it sorted out!! :)

I love my Russian. My Tobecco clone... meh, it's OK but not the real deal.

For me, it took some work. But it was my first rebuildable, and I wanted to make it work. I promise that given time and a little effort, it will satisfy. If you can make a genny work well, you are more than capable of getting your Kayfun up and running right.

And don't worry about the airhole adjustment screw. I had to remove mine completely from my clone.

I got a Kayfun lite clone on ebay

Kayfun Lite Clone by Tobeco Free Microcoil Build Ready for Cotton or Wick | eBay

$40 down the drain. Air hole stripped. Made about 6 coils and every single one tasted burnt. I thought the AGA T+ was a bear to build but the Kayfun, ain't fun.

Any other new RBA's out there that are relatively easy to build? Or should I just stick to the genesis RBA's?

Sounds like you need to play with your wick amount and configuration (barring some manufacturing defect). Also can try uploading pictures of your deck so people can verify that your channels are properly/deeply enough cut (basically that only thing that could cause burning/poor wicking, if the build itself is correct)

Also the stripped airhole (while not acceptable) shouldnt be a huge deal, honestly those tobecco clones benefit from removing the airflow screw completely.

My first kayfun was the cheapo chromed brass 3.1 from fasttech (because it shipped faster than the kfl/Russian 91%). The coil was easy to build (way easier than an evod/protank coil), getting proper wicking required more work. Give the kayfun more time, if I can get it to work anyone can...

Well, I'm not a novice to building coils, although you have to have the fingers of an infant to work on this damn thing. It's so small I have to use a magnifying soldering stand to see the damn thing. I tried cotton, silica wicks in all different configurations. Coil lights up nice and even from the center out, bright orange. No hot spots. The damn thing is just not getting juice or wicking properly. It gets a few good hits, then nothing. I removed the air screw completely, drilled it out a tad for better draw. Few good hits then burnt. I'm using 2mm elwool silica or whatever it's called. The thing is just a piece of garbage. I've tried all different lengths of the silica. Nothing touching the coil. No strands below the deck. Tucked in nice to the sides of the deck. Coil not touching air hole. The thing is just a POFS.

I have 2 of the tobeco clones, the first one worked great. The second one would not feed juice like you described. The juice channels were just not cut deep enough on the bottom one, and they also did not meet up. Once the chimney was screwed down it cut off the juice flow. To test this I left the chimney loose while assembling everything, I used a toothpick in the airhole of the chimney to keep it from getting tightened with the top cap. It worked great like that until I took a dremel to the juice channels. Tobeco clones seem to be hit or miss.

I didn't give up on the kayfun style, I gave up on tobeco clones. :p

Coil is about 1.7 ohms
Heres a vid of the coil

Tried cotton wick today. Nothing like the burning taste of cotton.

Still no go.

The burned cotton taste is probably coming from 2 things. In this pic you can see the first and second coils from the left are deformed. Lastly, that's way too much cotton. You should be using at least 1/3 less than that. You shouldn't see big shoulders on it when it's wet.

I love all my Kayfuns. I just got a Tobeco KFL+, and was really happy about the high quality they have now. The only thing I really didn't care for was the air adjustment "hex head" screw, but since I rarely touch it after I initally set it up it really doesn't matter. The one I just got worked great right out of the box (can't say the same about their Aqua clone that I got several months back).

I also have KFL and KFL+ from Hcigar and EHpro, and all of mine work great. If I would stop dropping then on the floor I'm sure they might work even better. My current two favorites are the EHpro and Tobeco, and my least favorite is the SvoeMesto (can't adjust the center post).

Keep playing with it, I'm sure you'll find your favorite setup soon.

Over the last month, tried quite a few different RBA's, 1st had the RSST and a AGA, both was a pain to get working right, and even when did get working right, not to my liking, then tried the Ithaka, these are a pain due to using NR-R-NR wire, to much work with the Ithaka, so then tried the 'Rocket' from Fasttech, which is a Kayfun clone, the small screws make it a pain in the ...., but love the vape and flavor from it, so got on ebay and bought a kayfun lite, same small screws, but again love the vapor and flavor.

Out of all the RBA's I've tried, the kayfun is best, but still tricky with the small build deck, I am doing a micro coil with cotton, and found really don't want much cotton, just enough to touch the deck and don't block the channels with the cotton, am already looking at another kayfun lite on ebay :)

Agree with Scrappy... too much cotton and coils deformed. Can't really tell from the pic, but the coil may be too close (or too distant from) the air hole on the deck. I usually build for 2mm distance between them and it works well for me.
