So, day 2 with my kabuki. Not that it was bad on day 1 cause it wasn't, but the flavor has really "matured." Interestingly, I still kept a bit of the same juice in my rta tank (with a Sophia in it). Although I think the flavors are now quite close, the RTA flavor is sweeter. On the other hand, the kabuki is sitting on the new Radius at a fairly low wattage, so a couple of things may be going on, including obviously my not yet having the ideal wattage for the set up.
Overall, I'm quite enjoying it. Happy to have gotten it.

A kabuki question for those of you who switch juices frequently, as I do. What do you do?
Clean the coil? (I think I read that someone soaked in vodka and then dried them.) I'm accustomed to silica wicks, so I've just rinsed and dryburned, which I obviously can't do.

I do switch flavors frequently, but I also have a slew of tanks filled. Were I to switch in the Kabuki, I'd either change out the coil, or I'd let the two flavors meld. Some of the sweetest surprises have happened from those accidental mixes.

If you don't want the flaves to mix, then yes, a little bitty wodka soak should do. Soak, dry, fill, ahhhhhhhhhh. :)

Honestly - hubs has the one Kabuki we own and he has dedicated one juice to it and uses other atties for other flavors because he hates changing out the coils. If have completely different profiles of juice then I don't think adding juice on top of the coil would be very tasty. I say - buy more Kabukis!

I pretty much make all of my juice, so I just fill with a new flavor and see what happens:) I occasionally will drop a coil into a 5ml vial of vodka to clean it, let it soak for a day or so, rinse it well and let it air dry for a couple days/week, then re use it. Haven't run into any problems doing this.
I did do an experiment to quick clean a coil at one time, shook it in a 5ml vial of vodka, rinsed with hot tap water, then blew out as much of the water as possible. At this point I dripped some PG into the coil to re-saturate it. Filled the tank and started vaping. The first dozen or thereabouts pulls had very weak vapor production until all of the water was flushed from the wicking material, then the coil acted as would normally would be expected. I may have an excess of time on my hands:rolleyes:

I'm a melder, until the head dies and I start afresh.

Now see, that makes perfect sense to me.:)
Unfortunately, My wife doesn't see the sense in it.

My saving grace is, I get a weekly allowance for gas, food, and smokes (2 packs a day). It hasn't changed since I stopped smoking. So I have a built in vape budget. Some day she will catch on to this.:(

And If I need something big..........
I don't eat for the week.:lol::lol::lol:

I don't switch flavors until the coil is done. When I switch I do it in an RTA where I can rinse and rewick. The Kabuki's get a favorite juice and it stays for the life of the coil. Then I can switch. I've had some pretty funky results with changing horses in midstream. Just buy more Kabuki's

I would think that if the flavor you had was a strong one and didn't want to mix it ( or one that you wanted to go back to ) you could just replace the coil and wash the tank out...put the used and still good coil in a baggie or other container for use again later with that flavor

I do a variation of the "flavour melding" solution: Setting the Nauty coil aside, I wash everything else and dry them with a hairdryer. Then I wipe the coil off with a tissue and add drops of the new juice into the 4 holes around the coil and two or three drops into the top around the mesh as much as is possible. Once I load my tank and start vaping again, the old flavour recedes more rapidly. This way you don't go through the process of soaking new coils, possibility of dry hits and starting at lower power etc, whilst you still have a usable coil.

When switching flavor, I'll just rinse the tank part with some water and dry it with a quick wipe of a paper towel. I leave the coil as is....after a few puffs the old flavor is mostly gone and I'm good to go...so I see no need to clean the coil itself

As promised, here's the update on the Triton Mini coils in a Kabuki.

Another poster was exactly right; if you use the positive pin from a regular Nautilus coil you're good to go. It's an easy 5 second swap.

Remember that at this point I only have nickel coils in hand so I can't offer any information about the Kanthals.

My initial impression is that they seem to work OK. I still feel that the vapor is a bit diluted and the draw is looser from what you'd get with a Nautilus but it's not a huge difference. I still tend to get a slight bit of gurgling from time to time but again it's not a dealbreaker. I'm looking forward to other people trying these to see if it's just my imagination and/or setup.

If all other things were equal, I'd probably just stay with the nickel Nautilus sold by Vapor Shark. But considering that I paid $12.99 a box for the TMs and it's $17.99 for the VaporShark, I can live with a little less intensity. Plus, since I bought the first set of Triton Mini coils I could find in the US I'm thinking I paid retail price. I expect the TM price to drop as they become more available and the discount sites stock them.

I'm off to order some Kanthal and Clapton TM coils. I suspect the latter may not work well for me due to the extra power they require.
