Oh, I still have my old stuff. I don't throw anything away. It's just that I am a creature of habit, and once I find something I like I have no wish to do anything else. So in a perfect world, I wish I had a brand new Radius and Kabuki still in their boxes ready to be unwrapped in case I stupidly kill my in-use kit.

I still have my Billet Box and bout a thousand cartos - hehe :)

Might be a good time to start shopping the Classies, boys and girls. Ya never know what might be your ceiling. :)

(as opposed to the loud guy that lives above you dancing on his floor...)

(did I get those backwards?)

I totally understand "no backups" mate. I certainly ain't wealthy enough to own the many mods/tanks others here have.
No that doesn't make them elitists, just fortunate enough to be able to afford backups and options.

I have quickly learned where quality exists, and I'll never look past ProVape mods. (YMMV)
But tanks are relatively inexpensive, and there are so So many good ones it would never hurt anyones wallet to have 2 or 3..or more.

The glass on our Kabuki's can be apparently easy to break. A spare glass is cheap as chips.
A backup tank costs a little more but is an overall cheap investment considering the $$ we spent on tobacco every week.

My Kayfun 5 clone came with both a glass, and a stainless steel tank. If I break the glass tank I've got the unbreakable SS as a backup (and a full set of replacement O rings). Cheap as chips. And my favourite tank flavour wise.
Yes the glass tank looks better and is more convenient for monitoring juice level. But the SS tank option is there "if" I break the glass tank.

I dunno about you matey, but I gave up the stinkies using evods, and I still have 'em.
Absolutely dirt cheap, they taste ok, and they are all there as last resort backups.
This whole pic cost me about the same as 2 weeks smoking. Money well spent! :)

Those Evods are awesome, Blokester. I often said that if they were around when I began, I might still be using them.

Two of my kids still DO use them, both 3+ year vapers who ALSO use Billet Boxes. Those little bad boys put out, and I loved them (when I got them for the kids). Actually, if the old GoGo (for those who remember them) were regulated to 3.7v, like the Evods are, I'd definitely still be using them. They were GREAT.

In other words, hang onto those babies - they'll come in handy. ;-)

@Peter_C , I hope you're doing OK.

Some of us take our competitive clogging very seriously. Not our faults people decide to live below us. ;)

Also, I am in training for Lord of the Dance and often like to get drunk and play my bass thru my 800w amp too.

I am a considerate neighbor though. I buy my neighbours earplugs every Christmas.

You know the phrase; "May you live in interesting times"? Well, "ok", is about the best I can say lately. I've been getting the chance to explore all the various buildings of the "Cleveland Clinic", and I have yet another shoulder surgery scheduled for mid-NOV.

But at least I get to be the poster boy for 'Better living through chemicals'...

Understood, Mr. C., thank you.

Continued thoughts & prayers your way.

Well my VVTF V2 RBA arrived from Tokyo today..but so did my new Provari Classic, so I was too excited to bother attempting to have a crack at the VVTF just yet LOL

It's actually a tiny bit bigger than I expected from reading the reviews here so I don't think I'll have any major trouble building it and loading my Kabuki.

First step will be to give all the machined surfaces a bit of a polish (as recommended by a bloke who makes knives :D ) coz the machining is rough as guts. Burrs all over the shop! LOL

Will definitely report back with my findings.

And here's a noice pic comparing it size wise to the stock aspire nautilus mini coil.
(all the extras in the pic were included, so a measly $11 AUS delivered was too temping to pass)

Marvelous pic, Blokey, and you KNOW we wish you pleasant days and nites rebuilding the little flea-sized coil.

I have a feeling you'll do a pictorial....... with macro shots!!!
G'day Kat :)

Yep, I'm really impressed with most of the close up shots I'm gettin' from my iPhone, so a pictorial is definitely on the cards lol

VVTF V2 completely stripped down to individual components ready for me to deburr, and buff the body and threads (as recommended by a maker of knives and VVTF enthusiast)
-note the 2 different length screws. The long one goes in the top of the body, and the shorter one goes in the bottom positive connection-

All finished buffing and tidying up the main body.
This pic also shows the original slotted screws I instantly swapped out for the philips head screws for ease of use. And I've included an aspire nautilus mini BVC in the pic for scale comparison.

My 1.8mm screwdriver fit perfectly inside the supplied coil, so this really is the smallest diameter coil I've ever worked with.
I apologise for not knowing the exact gauge of wire used but it looks slightly thinner than my 28g Kanthal so my guess would be 30g (?), and tested on my not very accurate multi meter at 1.2ohms..

As this is my first attempt at building one of these teensy tiny rba's I needed to fiddle fluff around for a while to find the closest thing to usable shaped coil legs so it would slot right in as theres not much room to move, and ya really can't snip the negative leg in situ as the end will fowl the tiny threads in the Kabuki chimney, and the positive leg has to be cut exactly right Before installing as it's not possible after.

Dunno exactly how much cotton to use as this is my first build, so for now I settled on this..

This pic shows the wide wicking area at the bottom of the chimney in the Kabuki. Same on the opposite side.
So it should have no trouble keeping up with not only us Tootle Puffers, but also some of the "Kloudz Bro" crowd :p

So after the build and posting the above I've been vaping this new VVTF RBA V2 atomiser in my Kabuki for over an hour, and the 'orrible wet flannelette taste of a new cotton wick is starting to subside.

It reads 1ohm on my Provari Procyon. Running at 12 watts currently. And it's starting to taste pretty damn good!
Although not quite as nice as the BVC coil I removed prior to this yet.
Not a huge difference though..and I'm sure once the wick finishes breaking in it'll improve even more...

Will I continue to use this ridiculously tiny and fiddly RBA?

Ken Oath!!
thumbani.gif

I'm a natural born tinkerer, and I've quickly grown tired of throwing away $3.50 AUS aspire BVC coils after a day or 3 due to burnt taste.

It will only cost me my time, and a few cents to rebuild this Kabuki rba so I'll definitely be sticking with it for the foreseeable future.

But I completely understand the reasons for disliking this thing, and making fun of it :D
It is a tiny, fiddly, poorly machined bit of hardware, and is stupidly difficult to work on.

But from my perspective it's the Only real alternative from using prebuilt coils those of us who like to tinker have.

And that's a Good thing!

questions welcome :)

YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

Blokey, that was an outstanding lesson (in.... ummm....... how to drive yerself mad in one easy lesson?). Your pics, once again, spot on perfection. Thank you for doing that (for all of us)!!!

Glad to see the head banger came in handy. ;)

So yeah, I've got a question.......

Have you ALWAYS been cray-cray?

(Truly a work of art tho, kiddo. Kudos!)

Wow! GREAT job, Blokenator!!!!! Somebody STICKY dat!

Seriously - if ever I wanted to attempt such an endeavor, this is EXACTLY what I'd be looking for. Simply phenomenal, both the work and the presentation.

Thank you, SIR.

Nice work!! I still have to deburr mine. I've been practicing my coil building with it since I first posted about it.

How smooth are the threads since you dremeled them? I wasn't sure what type of bit to use with it so thanks for showing it!
