LOLz it's been a hoot reading the replies, both positive and negative to this frustratingly tiny and difficult to build VVTF (or W T F) rba :D

Yeah I get that the Kabuki is a tank favoured for it's simplicity and Flavour.

I Absolutely Get that most Kabuki users just wanna screw in a new coil and puff away...I'd love to do the same myself. And that's one of the main reasons I bought the Kabuki in the first place..for the flavour, and that option..

But once again I'll say, at $3.50 AUS per Nauti coil that only lasts me around 3 days max before bad burnt taste (sometimes only 24 hours. Incredibly inconsistent!) it was gunna cost me a minimum of $400+ AUS per year on coils alone.
$400+ AUS per year!
That's a LOT of wire and wick!

I didn't know that before I spent $124 AUS + shipping on the Kabuki tank, a tank that was highly recommended here on ECF.
I expected to get at least a week out of a coil. (I get 2+ weeks out of my stock kanger OCC coils for similar price, and not much worse flavour) A week out of a coil isn't too much to ask..right?

So I ponied up the measly sum of $11 AUS for this tiny little rba, successfully built a coil/wick on it..albeit with a little initial frustration I admit, and have been vaping over 3 days so far with no problems, and no burnt taste.
(and no leaking, weeping, or anything negative..so far)

This was my first build on this flea sized deck and I know I can improve on my first attempt the next time.
And I'll also be trying a vertical coil build, which will involve a completely different wicking technique.
This is exciting for me!

I wish the stock nauti coils didn't cost so much down here in Australia, but they do.

I wish they lasted me longer than 3 days (at the recommended wattage range) before tasting burnt, but they don't, for me

Sooo, I spent my $124 AUS on a Kabuki tank, as recommended here on ECF, and found it fell short of my expectations from both a flavour, and ongoing maintenance cost perspective.

Love the build quality.

Love the look.

And Love that it was built in The USA!
That's a Huge deal for me!! (Support LOCAL manufacturing both Here in AUS And The USA!)

I'm happy to be the brunt of any ridicule for trying this tiny rba option..and expected nothing less LOL

But there are some who simply don't seem to "get" that there can be alternatives to make something work, that otherwise doesn't work for Others.

Light hearted ridicule and jest is More than Welcome.

But please ACCEPT we are Not All the same. :thumb:
I figured you would probably like the VVTF deck ;)

Blokey, the only one I will point fingers at and make fun of is....... ME! (not only for my lack of coiling skills, bright lights and super magnifiers, but also for my complete mangling of grammar...)

1. You tried.

2. You succeeded.

I can't even get to step 1.

Whereas *I* am the perfect example of a Kabuki user in the U.S. Once I changed from glass to plexi (thanks again, and again @ENAUD ) this along with the Radius became the perfect setup for me. With stock BVC coils at 9 watts I get between 5 and 8 days (mostly 6-7 days) on each coil before swapping them out. No futzing, washing, or trying to extend their life in any way. If the airflow is still great, I might turn the watts up to 10 to get another day out of a coil now and again, but I never get a burnt taste on my 50/50 GVC juice at all, just either a lack of airflow, or a lack of taste - that's what makes me change the coil.

Considering I was a 1.5 PAD smoker, this is quite a savings, and a harm reduction plus it makes the better half much happier and I can vape in the house as well.

With my health issues being what they are my hands can't do fine work anymore so I do not know what I will do if the worst comes to pass...

I totally get where you're at; you purchased a very expensive tank and want to have a way to continue using it without spending a fortune on coils for where you're living. In your situation that sounds brilliant. You got the W-T-F to work and posted amazingly detailed pics for anybody else attempting same to follow. Many thanks and much respect :)

I'm not sure why your Nautilus coils burn out so fast, but would guess you got a bad batch, or they're counterfeits. I usually have a single coil last for several weeks when I'm using relatively light eliquid that doesn't gunk up the coils. Having said that, a few weeks is relative because I usually rotate multiple devices, mostly using RTAs and not prebuilt coils.

My constructive suggestion for anybody reading this thread and contemplating rebuilding on the Kabuki, just amounts to: if you ever get tired of rebuilding flea-sized micro coils for tiny people, there are a lot of really good, compact, rebuildable attys out there, which work great with ProVari's, and do not cost a fortune, which might make you a bit happier in the long run.

I'm sure you'll figure it all out, despite only sticking to the Procyon as your only e-cig ;-) 3 months from now when you have 6 ProVaris and 12 attys, you'll probably have different preferences.

Cheers.

Ibloke, I am in total awe at the mad skills that it took to make the rebuilt Kabuki coil. The tutorial was fantastic as well. Loved the head banger, as I was getting a headache for you. I love my Kabukis, I am so grateful for the technology, the taste the incomparable build quality, hades, just everything. I am just plain awestruck at the talents and skills exhibited by all the folks here on ECF. I cannot really find the words to express my gratitude for all of you that came before to make it easier for those of us late to the table! Just know that we are watching and learning. Bless you! Now for the real reason I started this reply, that got gushy. But truly sincere. I am able to get 1 month out of my coils, with all day all night vaping. I use the 1.8 coils with e liquids at 70% pg and 30% Vg only. It may be a fluke, I sure hope not as the pre made coils add up. Ok enough, my gratitude and 2cents.

OK, so something has bugged me for many months now about my P3 Kabuki and the 510 adapter to let me use it on my slant top ProVari's. It just wont connect to many of them with a beauty ring...so finally I got around to making it work. First step was to drive the OG pin out and take some brass pin stock I had on hand and do some test fitting. 3/32" fit the bill nicely, so I laid the stock center pin alongside my 3/32" brass stock and made a score on it a bit beyond the length of the stock pin, nothing fancy here, I just eyeballed it and made a mark on the pin stock with a pocket knife. I cut the rod on the mark and then sanded both ends to smooth them a bit, then drove the new pin into the delrin insulator till it looked about right.

I then took the adapter only, and screwed it down onto my new Black/ red 2.5 ProVari on top of the Loki Lab Black cerokote beauty ring to seat the pin against the center post of my ProVari. Then I proceeded to attach the P3 Kabuki tank onto the adapter, and ... voila! I have contact. Houston, we have a Vape! 3/32" brass rod and a little red neck ingenuity...priceless :D

Really happy and impressed you made it all work for you. :thumb:

Hope your skills come into play if you're a early adopter of the ZNA Pro. :p

Thankx Gin, it is something that has bugged me for a long time, as far as the ZPro goes, I'm probably out of the running on such an offering at this point in the game.
