This shouldn't be nearly this hard. I've been struggling to get one of the last two coils I have into the top. slowly and lightly threading it in and out over and over. It will not grab correctly. It continues to jam. again, only one coil from this pack threaded in. It was tight, but it went in smoothly. the threads look fine inside the top cap, I just cannot get the coil in.

I think maybe a small ss wire brush might do the trick

Could be bad coils, has this happened to you before? In either case, I'm glad you got it to go.

Thanks everybody for being there with me through that!

An SS brush may be the answer; it seemed to be the chrome coating rather than the threads themselves. Cleaning up the grit is probably more than 1/2 the battle.

I thought bad coils too zen, but 4/5? that seemed excessively bad.

The original coil was perfect. My first replacement was perfect. The other four coils were all like this. I now have 2 that will thread in, with several more 5packs on the way.

Is there any way to get a "die" made for the coils for sale? I'm thinking specifically of the nautilus coil adapter top piece cut into smaller - maybe 1/2" long - split rings. that way it would act as a cutter and straighten the threads and clean the grit out at the same time. This would allow people to get use out of more of the badly threaded coils to be used without the frustration of going through what I just did. Just a thought.

Oh yeah, love the mini Ionizer on the kabuki. I was a little leery at first, merely because its not my normal style, but it gives just the right feel for an intuitive draw and great flavor.

Got my Z2 DX350 and love it tried kanger subtank mini (not so good) tried my squape R at about 1.3 ohms and it was decent tried my Kayfun V4 Clone with the sub ohm airflow kit at about 1.3 ohms and it is pretty good anyone give me a good comparison on the Z2 kabuki vs the Kayfun V4 in 350 mode? Airflow, vapor production, taste?
That's pretty much all I run now is DX350's and Kabukies...
full

Can't really compare them to any rebuildibles as I haven't used any since finding these tanks lol...

Left-to-right:
- The Geisha with ZFO Reserve Black Ice - Really great device! Aluminum Graphite body tube w/ aluminum switch housing and aluminum graphite switch really hits better than any other DX350.
- Nickel Plated Brass HOH Custom w/ Zens Private Stash Real Menthol - My pride and joy, my "Sunday Go-To-Meeting" device :D
- SS DX350 w/ ZFO Reserve Berry Menthol - My work horse, kick'en around, bring it to work, beat it up device...

I know, right?? :D

The custom is my absolute favorite out of the bunch. It has a... "Feel" to it like soft polished velvet in your hand. I believe it's a one-of-a-kind (well actually 2 but the other doesn't count because it's a DX490 (that I'm saving my pennies for BTW ;) ))
Now the Geisha also has it's own "Feel" (and hit ;)) that makes it special in it's own way. Nice and light, kinda stealthy...

The Geisha is on my radar...

How long are you getting out of a battery, and what is the best resistance coil for it?

Thanks, Jim

Definitely get a Geisha, you won't regret it!...

As far as how long? That's a tough one to nail down, everyone vapes differently. I will say that I carry 2 devices daily and don't bother with spare batteries. I work in service and cover a big portion of NY State daily with anywhere from 2 hours to 6 hours driving a day. Sometimes I can stealth vape on the job but just bring the SS DX350 on site. I rotate between both devices while driving.

I run the 1.6 ohm coils (which will range anywhere from upper 1.6 range all the way up to 2 ohms (gotta love China QC)). Zen's juices work really well in those ranges but I've had other brands that neeed a tad more power so I save them for home consumption with a Kabuki on my ZNA. I wish there were Nautilus coils in the 1.2 - 1.4 range for those juices. I do have a 1 ohm Cisco Spec coil that I've never tried because I've heard they can be "finicky" but if I wanted that, I'd go back to rebuildibles (see what you've started Mike? lol). I am the "embodiment" of why Zen created the Kabuki. It took the local B&M weeks to convince me and I went down "kicking and screaming" but once I tried one, I was hooked ;)...

OK, I stand corrected...

I just started doing DIY and the juice I made that I really like was the one I said needed a "tad" more power. I swapped out the standard nauti coil with my one Cisco Spec coil (comes in at 1.2 ohms) and WOW! Really nice vape. I'll run it tomorrow to see if it really is "fidley". If all goes well, I'll be ordering a bunch from Avid :)

Ok. Its been about a 1/2 hour. I "chased" the threads with the point of a razor and threaded them in and out of the top cap. It finally fits! YAY!!!!!!

You have the patience of Job, dear Moxienator. I would have been about 1.7 minutes in, then tossed it (HURLED it) into the garbage.

Gawd bless the tinkerers, for they shall inherit all my vape gear. ;)

Can you explain this better? Specifically, why cant you just use the Kabuki top to chase out the threads? Why is the Carto adapter chimney better suited than the Kabuki top?

Trying to chase with the kabuki top causes it to continually get stuck, and it removes no material or debris. At least, it didn't in this case. The carto adapter can be cut into 1/2 wide rings, each of which would then be cut again to form a 'C'. As long as the cut was clean, you could then screw it over the threads and it would sort of recut the coil threads, allowing debris and those chrome flakes to be removed. Ya follow? Kinda hard to describe, but that's the best I can do atm. A sort of backwoods tinker style die. You could even put grip tape on the outside so it's easier to twist. Having one of these would allow people to have a higher useable coil count.

The c cut would also prevent it from getting stuck.
