It's been ages since I used a tank with replaceable heads. Do the Naughty coils have a break-in period?
I kind of primed mine a bit so really no break in. Seems like it was pretty awesome right away. I used my first coil for 14 days before I had to change it. Hoping they will all be like that.

I use a needle tip bottle and apply drops to the wicking holes till they stop sucking the juice in, then drip about 4-5 drops onto the screen inside the coil...fill the tank let it sit for a couple minutes and they are ready. First few pulls will yield an off taste, then they settle in after about five or so puffs. Second fill is where they really come alive, I have had some success keeping them going by pulling them when the flavor just starts to go south, rinsing liberally with hot tap water and soaking them in a 5ml vial full of vodka for a couple days, then rinsing them with hot tap water again, and air drying...

That's been my experience too! Ecven with sugary berry juice

When comparing the Aspire tanks... The Triton Tank has better flavor than the Nautilus Tank... however... in all taste tests so far the Kabuki has beat out the Triton, even though the Triton beats the Nautilus... the Triton also KILLS the Atlantis and Atlantis 2. But not the Kabuki.

That being said, The Mini Triton coils should fit the Kabuki, although I have not been able to get my hands on them yet... however... I had prototype test coils that eventually became the Triton Mini... and they will provide a great deal of benefit for our Kabuki users that use it on mechanical mods with the 1.2Ω coils. The 1.8 will be the best one for regulated folks, and I have not had a sample with the clapton coil yet. I'm trying to get them now, but so far, hasn't happened.

For the TC crowd I'm sure the TC coil will be tested by many in the future, time will tell.

The best news in this, that I was aware of but not allowed to reveal... this means more options for Kabuki users... when people were worried about the nautilus coil being discontinued, Aspire has broadened the options even further.

Rumors have been circulating since last week about a rebuildable Nautilus setup in the near future as well.

I have not been able to confirm who the builder is, but I saw a picture today. And here are some details... this is all I know about it. VVTF E Cigarette Vaping Hardware - Vaping, Vapor, Throat Hit, Flavor

This is very exciting, though i shall probably stick with the 1.8. Options are tood though and future proofing also :)

Please excuse my ignorance, but why would a 1.2 coil be unsuitable for a variable device like the P3 or Radius... or have I (more than likely) misinterpreted this? Am still a noob, so is regulated and VV/VW different ?

Sure of - A p3 or radius could fire a 1.2 ohm coil, the p3 fires down to 0.5ohm and radius 0.3 I believe. Not sure what the flavour would be like.

Informed supposition - am presuming a 1.2 would be better for a mechcanical since a brand new battery output would be a better match to the lower resistance? I could be very wrong here though. Would love to know actually.

... And a 1.8 would still be better for regulated since you can get the great flavour but maximize the battery by applying less watts/volts...?

Yes... AND... the higher the resistance, the more efficient your setup will be. Less power is wasted in the connections. With regulated it is ALWAYS better to go higher than lower, because you can. It always confuses me when people feel lower resistance is better, it is considerably less efficient, and wastes battery power.

I'm very grateful that you'll be the tester on these, Zen. If these new "Homer" coils outshine the already oh-so-good Naughties, then sign us up.

Yes, the number of people out there who think the lower the resistance, the higher the power, the better the taste. Where on earth do they get these crazy ideas from? Rip Trippers and co probably

As for the P3 it'll have to wait unfortunately, when I got the email from Aspire yesterday about the new Odyssey Mini kit and saw the gold version I nearly wet myself . . . pre-ordered it on the spot

Probably by the fact that no companies seem to make devices under 14 watts - including the P3 and Radius from Provari which I both own. It seems to be a hell of a lot of power wasted if there is never any benefit from using it??

You make a good point and I am not questioning the people here with infinitely more experience than I - the concept just has me scratching my head.

I completely get the battery drain concept though :D

Oh, it's interesting to see that Aspire are promoting the Odyssey Mini kit as a 'flavor chaser' - and also making a 1.8 ohm clapton coil. Obviously some Zen-ness has rubbed off on them. I hope this is the start of manufacturers turning the corner and realising the power race is a race to no-where and finally acknowledging the flavour chasing tootle puffing section of the vaping community :)

So here's this cool chart I made...

One thing needs to be explained... EVERY mod has some internal resistance... it's caused by the connections and interconnecting wires, etc... Nothing in nature has true "zero" resistance... and connectors, because of the threads and such have a fair amount. Every connection, no matter how solid, introduces some. For the purpose of this chart, I called the internal resistance .15Ω... this is an arbitrary number, used as an illustration only. MANY mods, DO have that much internal resistance however.

As the resistance of the coil approaches the internal and connector resistance of the device, more and more power is lost to the connections. As an example, on the first line of the chart... a mod with internal resistance of .15Ω and a coil of .15Ω... 50% of the power is lost in those connections, and 50% of the power makes it to the coil where it can actually do some work.

As the coil resistance becomes greater, a smaller percentage of the power is wasted in the connections. At .15Ω 50% is lost... at 2Ω only 6.98% is wasted. Basically, at 40 watts and a .15Ω coil... TWENTY of those watts never get to the coil, and at 1.8Ω a little over 3 watts is lost in the system... a REALLY remarkable difference.

Well, maybe... Flavor Chasing is becoming a buzz word, The Asians LOVE buzz words, and I kinda know where they first heard that term... I'm sorry to say.

That's an interesting chart Zen, thanks. Fascinating and shocking! It's no wonder more and more multiple battery mods are appearing. At this rate people will need to start lugging around a car battery with their megawatt vape mods, or even a Black & Decker power tool battery, just like you did in the early days Zen
