I will be flying to Dallas next week and wanted to know if anyone has had issues with their Kabuki leaking.
I've flown with mine, I dumped out what little juice it had left before boarding the plane, and wrapped it up in a paper towel. Don't fly with any liquid in a tank and they won't leak. I never leave any tanks connected to a device when flying either. I learned early on the hard way...

I will be flying to Dallas next week and wanted to know if anyone has had issues with their Kabuki leaking.

I've flown over 50 times with mine.
I always have them upside down in the magazine pocket during take-off and initial ascent.
That way the expansion of air inside the kabuki pushes itself out through the coil, instead of pushing liquid out.

By the time the fasten seatbelt lights go off it is safe to turn them any way you fancy.
During descent it doesnt matter which way they are.

I know it's not allowed, but I vape in the toilet during the flight (only on long flights)
I've flown with over 9 types of aircraft with 4 airlines, the smoke detector has never gone off.
Sure I MTL and keep it in a bit longer, a subohm cloud will probably encounter issues.

During night flights, when all lights are off, and when I have a window seat with two sleeping people between me and the isle I vape in my seat. Then I keep it in even longer and exhale into my shirt. (also only with liquids that have little scent)

I understand airlines do not allow it during flight. The general public has no idea what vaping is, from two rows back a person cannot distinguish vapor from smoke. And worst of all a drunk smoker will think he can light his analogs when he sees vapor in the cabin, and start a physical fight if he is told he can't smoke.

Lastly check pbusardo's and dimtris 1st trip to China vid on youtube, where dimitris says a flight attendant told him it was ok to vape in the cabin as long as he doesn't blow clouds.

sorry for the hijack of the kabuki thread on this subject..

I guess there's a rear for every seat. I find the rebuildable to be fairly easy, and gives an excellent vape when done up in a vertical coil. Once the tricks are learned, I can do a twisted 28 ga. coil at .55 ohm, and wick it in well under 10 minutes.

Since the twisted coils last so long, it only takes a couple of minutes to re wick it. The trick is to have the KGD fairly thick in the liquid wells.

There is a trick to the wicking as well. I will help anyone with it if they wish.

Once done correctly, the draw is more open than the Triton Mini, and way more loose than the Nauti coil. It is actually a pleasant direct lung vape. :)

Yes, by all means, help!
I have two coming in the mail and I would appreciate any tricks you discovered, both about building the coil and wicking. Please share, and if you can, maybe a couple of pictures would be nice too.

What exactly did you learn the hard way?
My first flight, as a vaper, is coming up next week, so I'd be happy to get any advice. The last time I flew was around 3 yrs ago and still smoking.
Though I have to say, I will not be taking any of my good stuff with me, including Kabuki's or Provari's or byLeo's etc. I'll bring my good old ego pens. If they get confiscated, no great loss.

Last summer I went on a 5-1/2 week adventure tour in W.AU. I did not want to take my Kabukis with me in case they would get damaged or lost so I took three of my Nautilus Minis along with eliquids, coils, two battery charges, etc., etc. to last me the entire trip. I did have eliquid in my Nautilus and it leaked inflight which did not surprise me. I did have the tank in a plastic baggie. The worse part was that I never really used the Nautilus other than a few times that I can count on one hand. Vaping in W.AU is not allowed and any time I tried to vape I would get the dirtest look from people. Threw in the towel and needless to say I came home with everything I took with me.

I have been travelling a lot lately and I have been putting my tank (almost empty on purpose) in a ziplock bag in my checked suitcase and my mod, extra batteries in my carry on.

I really only check a bag now because of eJuice. I keep a few 30 ml bottles in my toiletry bag and always have juice shipped to my hotel which I bring back. I don't want the hassle of bringing a bunch of juice bottles in my carry on.

What I learned the hard way was, I had a partially filled Tabac BCC clearo attached to a inferno battery, and the pressure difference caused the juice to leak all out and soak the battery, and everything around it. After that trip I always emptied my tanks for flight. Even when empty, the pressure change can push what little juice is in the wick material of the coil into the airflow chambers, but it is really easy to blow out that little bit, fill the tank an vape away once at the destination.

Bags get moved and jostled while loading and in flight. I don't trust that if I place a tank upside down that it will remain that way during the loading process or the flight. It's just so much easier to empty the tank, and have zero concerns about a big pool of juice in my carry on, than trusting that things will be stable as I placed them for the duration of a flight.

You speak the truth. If kept upside down during ascent, leaking is a non-issue.

I pack as many 30mL bottles in a zip-lock bag in my toiletries as necessary. i tend to prefer miss with internal batteries so I don't have to pack a charger and spare batteries.

I always pack a mod that has a stealth mode option for in-flight stealth vaping. With something like a Kabuki, holding the vapor in your lungs for 5-10 seconds results in an exhale with almost zero vapor. Regardless, I keep it to a minimum and ensure I don't disturb anybody or raise any eyebrows.

I have to use jeweler's loop to build it. Same as I use to work on watches.

Wrap 7-8 wraps of 28 ga around the allen wrench, or similar size rod, that the Kabuki came with.

Cut leads very short. Install coil and check for function.

It is hard to wick it vertically, but this gives the best vape for me with the unit.

Once coiled, loosen the top lead, and pry it to the other side of the unit. You can now stuff the wicking material behind it with a shoe shine motion. When you have it where you want it, tighten the top lead.

For the other side of the coil, it is tight. I poke some wicking material, (the center of the wick length) behind the wick using a very small jewelers screwdriver. Once in, I can now press, and shoe shine the ends in until set.

Cut the ends of the wicking material 3/32" from the threading, and puff it out. Once this is done, press it into the juice channels. This will help wicking and prevent leaking.

For wicking material, I use KGD cotton, starting with a piece 3/4 to one Inch long, and less than 1/4 wide. then split the two halves apart. Do not remove smooth, harder surface from the two sides. Use these smooth sides against the wick itself.
this accomplishes two things. First, it keeps the fibers from getting pinched between the coils, which causes a burned taste initially, and causes the cotton to wear out much faster. And the looser cotton facing away from the wick, promotes much faster wicking. Preventing dry hits.

The first time is a PITA, but you will more than likely get the hang of it after that!
Good Luck!!!
