All joking aside, beer is a depressant, so if one were 'crying on the inside', it would not be my first choice - Xanax, on the other hand, is great for those once in a while blues.
I was in the US yesterday and couldn't pass up a 30 pack of Busch Light for $14. Had a few last night and that isn't any more of a depressant than water. Damn, I gotta stop buying cheap 'merican beer when I go to the states!

I agree though, I like my beer buzz, but I hate the next day. That's why I don't drink nearly as much as I used to. Worse as you get older....

I've always wondered why depressed people gravitate towards readily available booze to self-medicate. It just exaggerates the depressed feelings.

Boy I sure killed that *joke* thread, didn't I! Sorry, I just had surgery on my a$ on Wednesday and so my own mood is a bit off lately. Blood thinners for life, combined with internal bleeding = surgery.

... surgery is no fun, can't really blame you for your off mood. What was I thinking when I added to it? Feel better Peter.

The Calix wins hands down across the board (IMHO) - great consistent cleaner flavour with an easier draw, and larger, top fill capacity. Small loss of convenience with plug-in coils for the Kabuki, which has a tighter draw, even wide open, and a more muted flavour.
Therein lies the rub... In my experience, considering that the Kabuki is specifically designed to function best with a tight draw, the more air you allow through, the more diluted the flavor becomes. If you're a former smoker and just pick up a cigarette and test the draw, it'll surprise you at just how tight it is. If you set the draw on the Kabuki to a similar resistance, you might be surprised at just how flavorful it can be. Of course this is all dependent on whether or not you enjoy a MTL style vape. IMHO if you enjoy an airy draw or prefer a DL hit, you've all but wasted your money if you've purchased a Kabuki.

No worries~! You for sure didn't know, and you had a valid point honestly :) I'm the guy that pulled the trigger and took it from joking to seriousness, you simply added more fuel to my fire (thanks for that)...

I've been conducting an experiment over the last couple of weeks. Kabuki on one Radius and Calix on the other - built a 1.6 Ohm coil with Japanese cotton for the Calix. Same eJuice (Provape Gold Rush Tobacco), both at 10 Watts, no Boost.

The Calix wins hands down across the board (IMHO) - great consistent cleaner flavour with an easier draw, and larger, top fill capacity. Small loss of convenience with plug-in coils for the Kabuki, which has a tighter draw, even wide open, and a more muted flavour.
Just did my first build on my newly arrived Calix.
I think that I can make a setup more attuned to my vaping preferences, but it's a great atty. I like it better than the kfl5, which I will dispose of. Lighter and smaller. Check it out.
That said, I won't be abandoning the Kabukis. But, I did want a rebuildable I enjoy, for obvious reasons, and I think it's terrific.

Attention Kabuki owners --

ecig.com has posted their Labor Day sale which is 20% off everything in stock. That includes the Nautilus coils normally priced at $7.22

Get 'em while they last. $5.77 a box is the lowest I have ever seen and half or a third of what others are charging.

That is all --

Great price, but they are not Aspire Nautilus BVC Coils.

OOPS -- see the next post. They have both BVC and Nauti BVC's at great prices.

The Lan Dow Nunda
I'll try the other suggestions made in various posts, but I think the day my Kayfun 5 arrives will be the day I retire the kabuki to light occasional duty on my Kanger Kbox for random weekly puffs of my fruit flavours... :)
Tried some suggestions, but since my Kayfun 5 clone arrived I've never had such good flavour from my daily juice.

Kayfun 5 arrived today. Finished coiling and wicking it about an hour ago. (.6ohm coil running at 15 watts currently)
Been vaping on it for about 30 mins and straight up the exact same juice I've been using daily in my kabuki tastes noticeably better.
Not a vast improvement, but a very noticeable amount better...an improvement I never had in flavour moving from my cheap and cheerful Kanger top tank mini to the kabuki...

I'll possibly need to fine tune the wicking adjustment over the next day or so to suit my juice viscosity, but right off the bat it's working fabulously.

Very VERY happy right now, and will update any problems like the burnt flavour I was getting with the kabuki...but at a couple of cents per rewick/recoil compared to $3+ AUS per aspire coil for the kabuki I simply don't care as I already own enough kanthal wire and cotton wick for several years...which cost in total about the same as a couple of aspire 5 pack nautilus BVC coils which have only been lasting a few days max each.

And being a natural tinkerer I love recoiling/rewicking a rebuildable atomiser. Only takes me 15 mins tops and is very therapeutic lol

Ok, quick update as I've been pretty much chain vaping since my Kayfun 5 clone arrived.

My wonderful Provari Procyon gives me the option to save profiles to suit particular coils/tanks/juices and I can instantly recall a preset profile to suit.

So, I've been swapping back and forth between my 3 tanks.
Kanger toptank mini with .6 ohm SS coil
Kabuki with either triton mini 1.2 ohm or nautilus BVC 1.6 ohm coil
Kayfun 5 clone with .5 ohm build

All tanks are filled with the exact same juice from the same bottle

Being able to swap tanks around and change profiles to suit each tank in literally seconds gives me the ability to do real time flavour comparisons.

The Kayfun is a clear flavour winner. No doubts!

Second and third place are too close to call, but maybe the Kabuki has a tiny edge over the Kanger...

What does this "prove" ?

Nothing in general terms..

But what it proves for Me, and my personal taste in vaping, is that a cheap, but good quality Kayfun 5 clone is as close to perfect as I think I'll get. (And if I ever get the chance to buy a genuine Kayfun 5 down here I will in a heartbeat)

Your mileage WILL vary!

No I don't hate my kabuki. It's a magnificent peice of "made in the USA" engineering, and I'm all for supporting that kind of thing, even though I live in Australia.
I paid a Lot of money for the Kabuki, and don't regret doing that because it helps to support local USA jobs, which is not only a disappearing industry thing in the USA but also down here in Australia.

But at the end of the day I gave up smoking by taking up vaping.
It quickly became ALL about the flavour and enjoyment for me.
Unfortunately the Kabuki didn't tick the flavour, and cost effective maintenance boxes for Me.

But I'm sure it does for many others.

This is probably my last post in this Kabuki thread, and I wanted to leave on generally positive note.

Thankyou to all who have helped in my journey as a relatively new vaper.
I've found my personal nirvana in the Kayfun 5 clone, and will Never smoke a cigarette again.

Cheers

Phil :)

Oh Peter -- It's not fun that you had a visit to the hospital, but it sure is great to see you around here again.

Glad you are loving your Kabuki's, too. I sure do enjoy mine.
While I will always be strange, I don't mean to become a stranger - just life and ongoing health issues, combined with vaping happiness on my part, and many hours being sucked up in gaming (Fallout 4, now No Man's Sky as well)...and it's like I have no free time - LOL (so says the guy who doesn't do anything)...
