I think for it to work it would have to be a completely different base which would thread onto the current chimney. Since the chimney is so narrow (which produces that amazing flavor imo) it's going to be a real feat to get two posts in there.

But if it ever happens, I'm pretty sure it won't be from Zen. He's been very clear that his vision of vaping does not include any fiddling or construction. Since his main objective is harm reduction I think his entire focus is on converting smokers. Yes, the Kabuki is pricey but considering the materials, machine work, and USA origin I don't see any way it wouldn't be.

Like others here, the prospect of not being able to get/high cost for nautilus coils finally made me learn to build. Since doing so, I've found other atties which approach or equal the Kabuki for flavor.

It's a very strange place to be. I'm a dedicated supporter of everything Mike has ever done, but with the landscape changing so radically my requirements are changing with it. The extensive delay of the Pro (and the inexcusable lack of updates) doesn't help either.
As with my last post, I agree with all you've said.
But, think about the logic: you've correctly stated that Zen's objective is harm reduction and converting smokers. If, just if, the blasted FDA and our blasted government get their way and a multitude of vendors and manufacturers go under, then he will have failed to meet his objective, if vapers return to cigs due to unavailability of devices or device parts. None of this may happen. But, I would hope that someone would plan for the worst case, and have a fall back available, even if it includes fiddling and contruction, and not requiring some halfassed cheap gear.

Oh I hear ya :) Definitely not a cheap or throwaway item, especially when you buy them in Aussie dollars, which I have done twice.

I think the challenge in turning this into a dual purpose atty, is that the Kabuki uses the coil to connect to the power source. Essentially the Aspire coil is the "non adjustable 510 pin" for lack of a better description.

So this really means that we are pretty well reliant on the current coil size build deck - at least to my non-engineering mind. That and the fixed chimney design.

I have no doubt that someone (Zen) could make a higher quality RBA deck but you will still need patience, a steady hand and good eyesight to build it. :)
I honestly haven't thought through the engineering, nor could I, not being an engineer.
But, I do have a couple of byLeo Sophia attys. The atty and build deck are the same size as our old cartos, so not that much larger (if at all) than the Aspire coil.
Many, me included, do build them regularly. Yeah I don't see as well as I did back when I was a kid, and my whole body shakes, though that may be the election or some of the girls on this thread, but I pull it off.
Sorry to keep beating a dead horse. Guess, I'm annoyed at everything. LOL.
