Does anyone else find that the Nautilus coils seem to magically switch to crappy overnight ?
Do you mean that all of a sudden, one morning they taste bad? Maybe you just notice it more in the morning because your taste buds are fresh?

To me they seem to settle in and then when they reach that gunked up stage I can begin to taste an "off" taste in them. Never fails that when I get "that" taste, I'll peek in the coil and see little black flecks on the screen...

Yeah, that does seem to be the way they go. Maybe because we are vaping lightly flavored e-liquid, the off taste doesn't get masked by the flavors? I anticipate the decline of a coil after about day four or five, and just keep a spare handy for when they go.

Just to add a caveat, unless there's been a change the Triton Mini coils will not fit an original 510 Kabuki as is. There was less room on the original tanks and the larger pin of the Triton Mini will not thread completely into the base. You can simply pull the pin out and replace it with one from a BVC coil if you must.

I tried both the pin change and also the unmodified TM coil in a P3 Kabuki and never liked them as much as just the BVC coils. But for sure, you're going to have to throw more power at the claptons.

IDK, The Triton coils work for me on every Kabuki tank that I have, except for one, which I guess was a 1.0 instead of a 1.5 version, which I sent back to HOH and they sent me a new one. The Triton coils are a bit different, I tried them, then ended up stocking up on the BVC coils for Vapocalypse.

I just found that the Serpent mini tank was a lot more usable if being super-portable and compact + being able to run claptons or whatever else, on an easy to build deck, was important. They're like $15 from China. On the Kabuki my experience was the same as @GeekyGeezer, high VG juice just fries the Tritons pretty fast and it's not an awesome combination. With high PG/low VG, on the Kabuki, the BVC coils Just Work, much better.

Opinions are subjective, your milage may vary, some settling does occur during shipping, the package is half-full, not half-empty, think positive thoughts, and all that ;-)

TPuffs for life!!! Pinky swear, sweetie. ;)

I only vape unflavored in mine, to make the coil last as long as possible, and I do get that. Almost like it is a burnt coil? Even though there is still liquid in there. Reminds me of how some light bulbs get brighter just before they burn out. The coil seems to get hotter just before going bad on ya.

Because I do switch my kabuki with my flavored, off and on throughout the day, I get over a month (or 2?) on a coil...so I think I'm doing good. :D

No coils were harmed in the vaping of this tank? Dance like nobody's watching? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day? It's always darkest before you turn the light on?

I like where this is going. Maybe I'll start a new thread.........

I've put four tanks through it today ...Kabuki...I'll let you know how many days it lasts.

Gee (in the interests of science of course) I'd Love to try one of those coils in my Kabuki with GVC running through it for a while and see how many tanks/days I'd get? Normally I do roughly one tank per day and usually 5 to 8 days per coil at 9 watts. Every so often I get a weird coil that dies in like 4 days on me (dying to me means either no airflow and/or no taste).

But I heard these are either really spendy per coil, or you had to mod them or something??

I'm hungry, tired and my wife is back from a business trip in a couple of hours. Should I sleep in the fridge until she is home?

I'm curious to know how much (mls) juice you can put through one of them coils before having to change it. Probably only a couple of tanks (kabuki)?
OK, so I started the coil on Tues, and now have run about fifteen fills through it. The flavor has shifted a tiny bit south on it, and lo and behold upon checkingthe screen, there was a couple little black flecks sitting there. I filled it up with a yummy coil gunking NET juice and that will be that, maybe get one more fill and pull it apart for a looksee.

So I have run about 30-40 mls through the coil and for me it is toast...not too bad really, great flavor, huge vapor production, but the coil seems to favor maximum airflow and a boost of 2-3 at 11.5-13 watts for my tastes. It's not my usual vaping style but it works for me. It gave me the chance to run my P3 in 18650 mode and get rid of a few AW cells. Funny discovery, the Orbotronic cells purchased around the same time are all still good to great on the IQ, and all the cells were used in rotation in mech mods...

Hmmm. That's all very good info. I think it may warrant Jackie and I trying a pack.

Thanks for getting back and sharing. :thumb:

I dissected the coil, it made it through one more tank but the flavor had shifted south...the cotton didn't look too bad, there was a black spot where it contacted the coil on each side, but the wire was heavily crusted up with whatever stuff wouldn't vaporize...the coil wire itself was shot. This is what I don't like about coils that have outer wick material, once the wire builds up a layer of carbonized stuff, thee is no way to refresh it and dry burn/clean the wire without a total re-build. On the other hand, four solid days of heavy use for whatever the ticket price is works out to pretty cheap vaping if one is DIY'ing their e-liquid. Coils are my biggest expense in vaping, and these ones seem to perform pretty good going by my one coil experiment here. All things considered, I'll be sticking with the regular Nauti coils mostly because I can run them at about half the power required to fire the Claptons, and still get a satisfying and familiar vape from them.
