No problems at all. eCigs aren't illegal. I have them in my handbag.

Dragon Bone, You are too cute and innocent looking to hassle. Now us guys.

I don't know about Japanese Airports but in the U.S I recently was traveling to and from salt Lake City, I had my e-cig in my vest and didn't run into any hassles. I was kind of dissapointed cause I was watching on the X-Ray screen as my DNA20D Bogger Box box went through, and it looked darned suspicious to me. But I guess they are getting used to seeing E-Cigs these days.

Yea, I just don't wanna deal with any hassles or delays. I once had to wait for Japan to check my Playstation 3...for bomb and other substance traces....... haha. To be fair it was pretty new at that time but still...

I just smile and say 'denki tabako' (electric cigarette) if asked. Since you know Japan, you know to be very polite and courteous, and you won't have problems. Don't worry. One of the things that I love about Japan is; that as long as you are law abiding and polite, there are never any problems or nasty surprises.

Lol, thanks Tomz :). However.... in the US I always seem to antagonize the huge security girls who get very nasty and downright frightening with their huge guns and dogs and tazers and bad attitudes.

On my last visit to the US, I went on a RV vacation, so had a huge stack of ecigs with me. When I was trying to leave, I was targeted and searched 4 times. My luggage was scanned and rescanned, unpacked, and replaced, then scanned again at all 4 points. I was body searched repeatedly and put through a machine. Questioned repeatedly, and special powders or whatever was dusted through my stuff. Sniffer dogs and their mean owners were called in.
Finally when I thought it was all over and I was heading for the actual plane door, there was an army of them waiting for me. At least 8 people. Then the whole process started again. They got really mean when nothing could be found wrong with either me, my passport or anything else. At the final check, one exceptionally horrible and scary looking woman, threatened LOUDLY to remove me off the flight if I didn't apologize to her, all the time her hand twitching on her gun side, and the other - pretend holding back her sniffer dog. I refused, since I was deathly tired of being polite by that time.

I rate it as one of the worst experiences of my entire life. On the plane home, my husband said he never wanted to visit the US again. All the searching at all the different points took about 2.5 hours. No time for the Priority lounge :(!

Passengers on the plane were staring at me. It tainted my entire vacation, since that is all I can really remember now. When I got home, I promptly fell ill for two weeks. That kind of thing will never, ever happen in Japan.

Funny thing is, once I realized that they had targeted me, I was terrified that it was my ecigs they were after, and mentioned them, but hell no. They didn't give my gigantic vape kit even a tiny glance. That in itself I found amazing. They even scanned my Doritos bags that I was bringing back with me, and opened and mostly destroyed my make up etc., but completely ignored my ecigs (Provari with Lil Mama, BoxMod with carto, plenty of eGos with different Stardusts and cartos etc. chargers and batteries galore, ejuice, driptips etc.).

True story!

i feel ya. had the same thing happen to me coming back, because i was traveling with 3 japan nationals. wife and 2 "things"... i got targeted in chicago for multiple checks. i even purposly left the secure area to burn one, just to see if they would snag me again. in the 6 hours i was there, i got searched 9 times. every single time i went back through security. started to have it out with the TSA "lady", but decided to bring her supervisor over. after 20 min. of me lambasting him about the .... job he and his people do, and after showing him multiple versions of gov. ID, he finally threw out the " say 1 more word, and i will arrest you" line. my final words were " 1 more word" very slowly, so this jackass could understand me. and when he stepped up to attempt an arrest, to my suprise, there was an off duty state policeman, in line close by listening to the drill sergeant like ripping this guy took. he came over, flashed the badge, and told the guy to stand down, and that he and the rest of his people deserved evey bit of criticism they got. now mind you, i dont look like a ........ hair is still mil spec, clothes are clean and whatnot, yet i was singled out 9 times, along with more people than i could count that would not fit any type of description of someone that has done any type of aircraft related damage in the past.yet, i watched an entire tour bus full of people that looked an awful lot like people that "in the past" have done things on planes that didnt end up well.

now, i am not say that profiling is right, but you have to use a modicum of common sense when you are trying to identify potential targets. if you are looking for a male, 18-25, of chinese decent, then you dont stop and frisk every black lady, 35-65 or random harassment. you stop people that fit the description of who you are looking for...

FWIW, TSA are paid less than the janitorial staff at most airports, so i understand a certain level of frustration. but, the fact is, you dont HAVE to be too smart to be TSA. hell, you dont even need to have a diploma in some airports. you just need to know the right person that does the hiring, and THAT makes me feel less secure than knowing a legitimate idiot is probably at the helm of security when you travel stateside.

if you or someone you know is offended by my thoughts and statements, i truly do not care. you should clean up your own house, and do whatever it takes to get rid of the idiots in your ranks, to make TSA a legitimately worthwhile organization. because as i see it now, you are nothing more than a glorified bathroom attendant with pseudo power...because of that experience, i will NEVER fly threw chicago ever again. if it means i get back a day late, i will choose to fly through a different hub.

oh yeah. almost forgot. proper english was optional for 4 out of the 6 TSA agents that were witness to this. what i got was .......ized ghetto slang. and this was from a supposed TSA agent in a supervisory role. i love to talk smack, and use slang. but there is a time and place to sound like a jaggoff. work is not one of those places...

i just have zero respect for anyone that refuses to show professionalism in their profession...it must be my 22 years of living in japan that has me spoiled...

Hey Kuritaro, I could just hug you now! After recounting my horror story yesterday, I was worried that someone would come along and blow me off, and that I couldn't take after the nightmare I was put through. I am a clean cut and presentable person, well spoken and reasonably educated. I am law abiding and not rude to officials. I am married for 12 years in Japan and I have Japanese residency. All my documents are in order. I am employed (or was at that time) and pay my taxes. I have never been to jail or broken the law.

Why I was target so viciously is beyond me. It is also not the first time I was targeted either entering or leaving the US. The level of personal attitude and agendas from those overgrown swaggering buffoons was staggering. They were chatting amongst themselves, chewing gum and having a high old time. Then got nasty and rude when they couldn't rattle me and I was legit.

And not to get too personal, they were gigantic. My husband was quite intimidated by them, and extremely dismayed and disappointed by the total lack of professionalism from the GREAT land of the brave and the free.

I almost fell on my knees to kiss the ground, and felt a strong urge to bear hug the polite and officious officials on entering Narita lol.

i def. know exactly what you mean. the US may be where i am from, but japan is HOME. the dwindling level of self respect that certain people in the US have displayed, have really turned me off to ever wanting to live there again. nothing more hilarious than seeing the godzilla sized man or woman playing airport cop. what are they gonna do if they have to chase someone?i imagine it would be like bowling...haha

I know how you feel, Obama is trying to get the Government to Control Everything and the power given to these Yo Yo s is incredible.

The latest abuse which I find scary is about a year ago the DOJ Department of Justice used my Tax Dollars to Bus Students and organize Protest Rallies to make the State try George Zimmerman. I expect this type of thing to happen in a 3rd world country but Government Financed Witch Hunts in America. Disgraceful.!!!

Don't believe me read this:

Hi DragonBone,
I was wondering how long ago this incident happened, I think that in the middle of the year 2013 with e-Cigarette industry approaching a Billion Dollar industry, and usage more than tripling, that they are more familiar with e-cigarettes.

I must say just your bad luck to have mean woman instead of Besotted men examining your luggage.!!

Lol, there were loads of men too, but it was the women who took my 'innocence' personally, and got angry and spiteful. How mean spirited and unprofessional is that!

It happened About 18 months ago Tomz, the incident was at LAX. They absolutely ignored my vape stuff and wouldn't even look haha.

just keep in mind that most TSA people were too stupid to pass the ASVAB for the military, or the psych profiles for the legit police force, and you will be fine. its not too tough to outwit them with logic.

oh, and dont be afraid to show ur mil ID when you go through security. sometimes it makes things smooth as hell. some of more logical TSA folks tend to let mil and mil spouses breeze on through once they know who you are.

I'm going to Spain (Tenerife) next May (husbands 40th birthday treat) and am hoping that there won't be any trouble when we go over as far as me being able to take the battery, the clearomiser/atomiser and the liquid. No doubt we'll be checked at the airport lol. Does anyone know (just to save me using Google) if they can be used at the airport?
