I usually burn my carts before they don't work anymore, I am getting better at recognizing when the cart flavor is going down, but I vape so much that sometimes I just think, oh that must of been a tobacco flavor, then hit it again, by then I've ruined the cart, I keep the cap, ring, condoms, and plug, and toss the cart.

Haven't gotten any blanks yet, although they're on the list, but I've noticed the same as the OP on my refilled pre-fills (if you follow me).

Some of them will take refill after refill and vape like mad and some just don't have any oomph left in them after a single use.

I'm using the warm water washout, blow through open end until no water comes out method. Some I've let stand to dry overnight, some I just refill immediately. When I was actively testing, I used the same juice for all of them, just to take it out of the equation.

I'm also a Taryn-spinner fan, and I've even tried letting them 'rest' for a few hours after filling to see if it makes a difference (haven't really noticed), unfortunately I haven't found any correlation between great vaping and so-so performance.

However, considering these are what I consider a "consumable" item, and I've gotten more that vape great than duds, I've just put it down to the cost of vaping and quitting smoking, so it's all good!

Basically, the fill a 10ml syringe halfway, hold 5 carts in their hand, and plunge the syringe into one after another. The experienced ones are very fast and precise, but I spotted a few who tended to underfill the first 4 by a little each, then empty the syringe into the last one. But that's what the weight check is for, to weed those variables out.

I am looking into a lot of variables, but so far it's looking like the biggest factor is the simplest; having them filled with PRECISELY 1ml. Not .9, not 1.1, but 1.0 exactly. I did a LOT of testing and that is the sweet spot.

That's something Steve's been trying to get them to do for a LONG time, but they kept insisting that that was too much. SO before I left, I made a video for them showing me filling a blank cart with 1ml, and comparing its vapor production to one of their .8ml prefilled carts. My 1ml cart blew their .8ml away.

Now, they're finally doing 1ml. And most of the carts I've tested have all produced GREAT vapor. They fill by hand, though, so there's still some inconsistency. I now have them checking the fill by weight, though, so we'll be getting even that smoothed out.

The remaining problem is the tendency for some flavors to need several puffs before producing their maximum potential vapor. That one is going to be a bit harder to nail down, because it varies by flavor, so it's not the carts themselves or the fill amount or method but believe me, I'm working on it. :thumb:
Good to know you are riding their as#es!

So they inject from one position in the carts?

Makes me appreciate my carts more knowing they are hand filled.

I am really considering Dremeling a good and bad one to see if I can find a difference:p It's always fun to use the Dremel anyways:sneaky:

Actually, I find a corkscrew works about perfectly for dissecting carts. Just thread the tip in a quarter turn or so, and then yank to pull out the metal power post. Give it the right twist at the same time and all the guts come out, otherwise grab some tweezers to pull out the rest.

But I can't take the credit for that trick. Our own Mark Dohse came up with that one.

Is that how you fill yours Leaford?

I wonder if I could control the wild inconsistency on refills trying to put exactly 1ml in with a syringe. I always order a pack of 5 and then at least a 5ml of the matching juice to refill.

Do they inject in just one shot in one place, or in several?

They do it in just one place, in one quick shot. But when they do it, the carts have plenty of time for the liquid to distribute itself evenly via osmosis. I either move my needle around a few times, or give it a Taryn spin after filling.

And if you're re-filling, either rinse it out, or blow out the excess liquid first, to avoid overfilling.
