Hey guys. First, I love the new racing stripe softcap Turbos. They're awesome. But.. you knew there was going to be a but..

The first few that we used (refilled numerous times) and boiled we're having issues with. It seems that a bunch of water is stuck in the tube, and it's taking massive 'blow out' sessions to get the water out so they're useable again. I've never had this problem with the previous brand I was using.

Has anyone else noticed this? What methods are you using to blow out the excess water after cleaning?

Oh, and as for my method:
1. boil 15 minutes, dump water, refill pan
2. boil 15 minutes, dump water
3. manually blow out excess water a few times
4. Bake at 170degrees for 30 minutes

After all of that, I'm still able to blow out more water. It's like it's trapped in there.

Anyway, this got lengthy, but anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Amanda

I don't use the turbos I noticed that water was getting trapped in mine as well. I have been blasting the water out with turkey injector/pencil grip method posted by Belletrist and then another member suggested putting cartos in a bag of rice to dry and it works amazing ...dry as a bone after a day or two and no nasty musty taste.

I would suggest not boiling them. there is no need to use boiling water. a hot water flush is all that is needed and then blow out and allow to dry. works perfectly for me.

I still need to sprout more self-discipline about cleaning, but whenever I get serious about it I figured I'd sometimes also use the method where you both rinse and soak in PGA or high-proof vodka for awhile -- or in cases of lingering flavors, anyway.

To ppl who do that -- do you also rinse after the alcohol soaking? Does the alcohol help with evaporation too?

Alcohol does help with evaporation.

I usually use boiling water, with standard cartos... I oven dry them at 170 degrees F, for 15 mins at a time (after blowing out). I HAVEN'T TRIED IT WITH TURBOS YET so attempt at your own risk, k?

Honestly, I haven't worried about cleaning w/ the Turbos because they last so long w/out a wash. I just cap 'em and put 'em in a ziploc bag. I'm sure I'll get around to washing them One Day but as far as I'm concerned I've gotten my money's worth, so if they don't survive a wash *shrugs*.
