Anyone else like 3.7V more than 5V on their Prodigy?

I just jumped back on the 3.7V boat. Decided to try out an 18650 battery I got from DX with a resistored switch, and I got nothing. I tried it on the unresistored switch I got today though, and it's AMAZING!

The vapor isn't quite as think as 5V (maybe 75% of what I got at 5v?), but the flavor is definitely there. The throat kick isn't as prominent, but 5v was making my throat hurt, haha.

The main problem I was having was that I would burn through atomizers and burn off juice WAY too fast. I blow out my atty's every night and let them drain. I also make sure I don't over-drip or under-drip when I vape. I used to be able to get M401 and e-cigar atty's to last me around 1 and a half to 2 months. At 5v, my 801 atty's would last me maybe 3 days? They started getting really harsh, flavor started tasting burnt and vapor would only come out in wisps after that time.

At 3.7v, it feels more like my beloved e-cigar. At 2400mah, I'm sure I'll love the battery life.

I wondered about that. I don't use any mods, but I notice my ecig isn't as flavorful with a PT as it is on a battery. I know I'd enjoy more vapor with a mod and read lots of reviews and raves, but I still question flavor loss. This seems to further my belief that I'd probably enjoy extended battery life in a mod rather than also forking out the bucks for higher voltage. Thanks for your opinion.

I've started at 3.7v.. 510 batteries, mega 510 batteries. Then i bought the Protege. Loved it! Then i wanted a high voltage device to see what all the fuss was about. Bought a Silverbullet as it was instock and i could'nt buy a prodigy at the time. Thought it was cool but much larger then the protege.

On my first try on 6.80v i killed my first 510 atty cause i flooded it and blew it out. So not thinking i killed it on the next hit cause i ran it dry.

Tried it again using my new Blue Foam Plug Mod. It keeps the atty nice and wet and it wicked perfectly everytime. Took a draw as quick as i could exhale. Nice.. But i dont like going threw that much juice that quick using the high voltage.. maybe just make it my morning vape.

I found using my cart mod listed above with just 3.7v, its awesome! I get tons of vaper to where you think your runing high voltage. hehe. I've never experainced this great wicking or vaper with my vent/poly mod or using the PTB Shredded mod. Also it uses every last drop in the cart everytime.

Wicking good enough to empty 2 full carts in a row at high voltage without blowing up the 510 atty.

I've only used the high voltage 3 times.. so i may change my mind down the road. Might notice a huge change when i try some other flavors other then TW marlboro.

I also agree with you on the 3.7 non resistor switch. I am also using the 18650 batteries and they really last a long time before recharging. I think the flavor comes through much better and if your looking for more smoke then add some vg to your juice.

To Be Honest ... I got tired of Higher Voltages .... Likely because I stayed at 6v+ most of the time and I found my true love ... the 510 atomizer that rocks at 3.7v .... Over the span of about 2-3 months, decided to drop it back down to 3.7v (18650 in my Prodigy with unresistored switch) and my 3.7v Protege, and haven't looked back since.

I LOVED 5v and 6v with the 801 atty ... I am now settled and content with a 510 at 3.7v :)

Well, I am kind of straddling the fence on this one. I primarily use 901 attys. With them, I like some flavors best at 5v and some best at 3.7. So I have one prodigy set up for each.
With my protege, I definitely like the 510 attys, so I keep it set up that way, and like almost all of my juices with it. Not all of them, though. For instance, my cinnamon is definitely better to me at 5v, and some of my tobacco flavors and some of my mint/menthols are, too. So I really like having the choices.

That's what happened to me. 5v with an 801 blew my mind! But after awhile, I missed the cooler, smoother vape of a 3.7v. It's also a big possibility that the fact I quit analogs (again) has made my throat much more sensitive.

I'm using an unresistored switch at 3.7v with a 510 atomizer, and I'm loving every puff. It's so consistent, and I don't feel like I just drank half a bottle of Tabasco anymore.

I've done both but totally prefer the 3.7 / 510 vape experience.

More vapor than i know what to do with and the flavors really stand out.

Never tried the HV liquid because I'm pure VG only.... (base too)

Do you get much flavor from VG based juices?
I don't. Is it just my juice selection maybe?
I like VG but is there some like maybe double flavors that give good taste?

I have 4 Tenergy 18650 2600mAh batteries. I have used them for a while and am pleased with the results. The batteries are very long lasting but I have found the power drops off sooner than I like. The life span is around 3 days but after the 2nd day the power is too low for me and the vapor production too weak so I swap the battery out. So you can say the batteries last 3 days but I think the useful life is gone before the end of day 2.

I'm all about the high performance vaping. Those protected 14500 batteries I use in the Protege have the same power fall off. I rarely wait until the protection circuit kicks in before changing batteries. they say that the 14500s have a life span of 300 cycles. I will probably quit using them long before cycle 300. They just loose their umph.

I really like the 5 volts better in the prodigy. I like the 3.7 in the protege better. But if we ever get wipped out by another hurricane I can go for more than a week without power on the 4 18650 batteries I have.

It's all good.

I would love to hear from you guys now that it is a few months later to see if anything has changed in regards to enjoying the 3.7v/510 combination.

Please?!?

-Robert

I really tried to love the Protege with 510, but as soon as I got my V2's, I sold my Protege to a friend. V2 with 510 is awesome!!!

5 volts all the way!!! Never tried 6 volts, but it's been an issue for a number of people in terms of it drinking juice and probability of killing an atomizer in practice seems higher... I hear no issues with 5 volts, so I fixated on that since July 2009.

3.7 volts is just impossible to deal with as an everyday 5 volt vaper. My wife just started getting into the flavors when I started ordering more gourmet/desserty flavors to round out the mix. I gave her the my black 901 kit (my first purchase from Steve woohoo!) and occasionally I hit off hers when she is still learning how to gauge wet/dry atomizers... I say this so much it's becoming cliché, but to me it feels like sucking air through a mcdonald's straw with a tiny bit of flavor. It's not remotely satisfying... I have to prime it 3x such that it is like stacking 3 layers of vapor in my lungs to get enough throat hit satisfaction. At 5 volts I just take one long lung busting 5-6 second drag and I'm left extremely satisfied... ahhhhh satisfied.. where's my V2!? ahhhh :p

Currently vaping some old recipe Cashcap from the first juice i picked up from Steve in a sampler... Oh happy times. What a great week, V2 working again, Ecig vapor deemed safe, NJOY unloads a can-o-whoop-... on the FDA. Shipments are set free... OMG cheers!

Have to say that 80% of the time I'm using 3.7v mods, both Protege and my non resistor Prodigy v1. Ordering mechanical switches for both this weekend from Steve. I also have a 5v Prodigy and PS passthru that get heavy rotation however. The only atomizers I use at both 5v and 3.7v are the 901 and kr808's, these are my main vapes currently.

However the 510 at 3.7v is still a favorite for me, lacks a little on taste compared to the others, but great vapor and TH make up for it. It's reckless at 5v, and gulps juice so only use 510 at 5v at home. Using i right now on my PS PT with some of Cash Menthol.

When I go out, I usually have my 5v Prodigy, Protege and 1 KR8 XL battery with me, each loaded with a different flavor.

Part of the reason I use 3.7v heavily is stealth vaping. It's really hard to hide a cloud of 5v vapor. And my office is a strict no tobacco zone, don't want to push it.

Variety is the spice of life, and find the variety of voltages very satisfying.
