Anyone else not impressed with Pro-tanks?

I started out using ce4's, then moved to EVOD's, then Vivi Nova's, I ove my Vivi Nova's but recently figured I'd give protank a chance since it just looked like a higher quality product.

To my surprise, My Vivi Nova outperforms my Protank hands down in taste and vapor.


I rebuilt my protank head with 30GA wire and cotton and It is now keeping up with my Vivi nova, But still not impressed...

Anyone else?

Yeah, I have two sitting unused. Wayyyy too airy draw and gurgling no matter what I put in there. Now I must admit, they are ProTank 1, apparently 2 has less airy draw but I'm not gonna try. Every regular clearo I have performs better for me - not sure what I'm doing wrong because obviously a lot of people love em \

Well, I hear the same for just about every item out there, sometimes you just might get a bad one from the batch, and/or sometimes its just a combo of e-liquid/mod/power setting/ etc.

I guess part of the fun with vaping is the journey to source the "best" setup, but once you find something just right, there's always something else on the market that makes you wonder...

For myself, I didn't care much for the original Pro-tank but definitely dig the PT2 and PT2 mini. My favorite is still the iclear series (16, 30 and 30s) but the PT2 is definitely up there too.

Yah I gave mine away. Too heavy and couldnt get used to metal mouth piece. Im staying with the EVOD asnd recently picked up 2 MT3S to use for higher capacity on the weekend trips. The new MT3S is way better than the old MT3. Better mouthpiece and sturdier construction. Looks more like the EVOD too.

Different strokes i'd assume! I've got one, my fiance has two and feel completely different about them. She loves both hers, dislikes my Evod's and T3S. I actually prefer the Evod's, T3S and T3S mini myself. I don't mind the Protank, but not my first choice either.

It sounds like you prefer the warmer vape of top coil clearos to bottom coil clearos.

Try the iclear line. iclear16 and iclear30.

Protanks are apparently love em or hate em. Many people swear they are just fantastic for the money and work super well OOTB and even better when recoiled. And then we have others who apparently are very dissapointed :O

I've learned that there are many knock-off products floating out there on the market and I'm thinking maybe some people have gotten bad experiences from these knock-offs? Cuz I have heard many reviews on the pro-tanks on both ends of loving or hating them.

No leaks or gurgle on the Mini PT-II but it is a airy draw. Covering one or two holes in the eGo ring fixes that though. My biggest complaint is burnt taste if i vape even slightly too fast. Mostly its with 50/50 juice. 70PG/30VG wicks much better but still need a "primer" draw if im vaping fast.

My PT-II though did go through a period of working fine then leaking and gurgles. Plus occasionally burnt taste with 50/50. Its been fine since the last cleaning and coil but i don't use it much anymore unless im in the mood for menthol. For some reason menthol and mint type juices taste a little better to me in the PTs.

ATM i prefer a carto, either alone or in a tank. It was a rough start but now i got them working great.

I just got my protank 2 the other day and love it so far some gurgling if it sits sideways and there is a slight leak out the top when I fill it but I actually love it. I think it tastes great

I love my Protank2 but it does gurgle a bit. I have to take it apart and blow it all out at least once a day. However I really like the taste I get from mine. I personally did not like my iclear 30 at all. It was way too overpowering for me. It made all of my juices taste harsh. It just shows you how subjective this all is. What someone hates another will swear by...

Like anything else in life. If someone doesn't like it they will tell you it sux. It doesn't have to, but they will swear it does anyway.

Sad part is some just take word of mouth as fact and never find out for themselves.

Personally, I have some 50 Kanger tanks from most of the line and have not had any serious issues with even one tank out of the lot. YMMV

I'm not impressed by the protank either. In fact, I'm depressed. Rather prefer the old mt3. More of a pita to recoil, but gives me a more enjoyable vape.

But that's just me. Lots of other folks love the protank. Different strokes different folks..... or is it Different folks different strokes?

I like them. They were a bit fiddly at first, but once mastered deliver a great, saturated, flavorful vape. It's a cool vape, though, but still nice. I prefer them for longer vape sessions, while I prefer top coils for quick, warm vapes.

Agree with you 100%. Inexperience with any juice delivery setup makes for uninformed comments which get passed on as gospel which makes a lot of noobs miss out on a lot of excellent equipment.

Yeah after hearing so many bad stories around the pro tank, I ended up grading to a Smoktech Pyrex Vivi nova with aluminum tube around it. It is a slight step up in quality but is just as problem free as the acrylic Vivi novas. It has been all i have been using lately. Still looks a little cheaper than the protank though, but could care less. I'm now wondering if vision has a better version , being Smok sells a lot of slightly cheaper versions of higher quality stuff I find.
