i just ordered a protank 2, because i broke my pro-tank 1.. i didnt really care for the protank 1 because you couldnt take it completely apart..

I know with my vivi nova the heads go out pretty quick with my vg-juices (which is pretty much all I vape..)
How long do they pro-tank's heads last? I was told I could take the wicks out and it will make a great vg tank..
Are burnt hits common? just kinda curious on what im buying, or if there is a better tank for Vg-juices
comments /suggestions much appreciated!

If you are not using a VG juice that gunks up wicks, you should be fine. I get about a week out of a Protank, using a 20/80 mix in it. Also, most 100% VG juices are not 100% VG. Most have distilled water to make them usable. Supposedly, you can take one of the flavor wicks that is resting on top of the wired wick out, and it works better with VG, but I don't. Try it and see.

Some people clean the heads, I just rebuild them. They come with 2mm wick and 2 smaller flavor wicks, I do a 32 Knathal 5 wrap on 3mm silica and leave out the flavor wicks. Comes out at 2.2ohms.

My heads for the PT2 lasts a week at most before i get off or burnt tastes and gunky coils. Then i wash them and they are good as new. I dont have pure vg juice but this is my experience with a thick 80% vg with sweetener from a local vendor. Yes i believe pulling 1 or 2 wicks is best to make flavours more wickable and more pronounced. But you have to experiment since i had a bit of leaking issues with 1 particular head.

Burnt taste unfortunately was pretty common for me when i was using the PT2. A lot of people on here seem to have a blast with them but i didnt. One thing i tried that successfully solved that problem for me was to blow into the mouthpiece. Then, bam! The flavour was right back. But it was constant and annoying. My PT 2 had lots of flooding issues too. My PT2 mini had additional leaking problems.

And sorry, i dont know off hand any more tanks that handled pure vg juice longer. My brother in law uses 100% vg but uses the vivi nova also.

I smoke thick DIY juice, 80% VG, and change heads about once a week. Some heads I though were dead because they heated up really bad when used and which gave burnt taste turned out to be okay. First, the multimeter said the ohms were right (i suspected due to heating up that the resistance was blown), and secondly, upon taking them apart as though I was going to rebuild them, I found the wick blackened and charred. I think they got this way from 1.) lorann liquids with way to much food coloring, and, 2.) dry-firing after cleaning because I did not prime the wick.

I am intending to see if I can push a new wick in without re-wrapping the coil in a rebuild. I have never rebuilt one, but Rip Trippers youtube on doing it makes it look fun, easy, and worthwhile.
