Slightly off topic, but this reminds me of a thread on artificial sweetners and peppers from my pepper gardening forum.... out of curiosity, how are you with spicy foods? I can't stand artificial sweeteners and until recently I wouldn't bother with anything claiming to e spicy if it had less than a habanero in it.... much like the others on the forum....

I love hot foods... What was the consensus on the other forum?

PS used to be my fave, but then again, those were the days when PS were my first juices...

They're a bit too pricey for me, but I did enjoy their tropical punch... Jane's Berry juice wasn't that good, it was like a muted version of their Tropical Punch...

I now buy in 30mL at a time, so I look for good deals... I buy Mt Baker Vapor nowadays, but I did get a couple of good stuff from bulkejuice as well...

The only problem with bulkejuice, the juice were nearly spot on to its name, but only when exhaled through the mouth, when exhaled through the nose, it smelled like toxic chemicals... I could never figure that one out since I always thought that taste depended on the olfactory...

I have found that after 3 months of vaping I prefer the more complex and layered flavors that Ahlusion, The Plume Room, NLV-Gold, and Boba's Bounty provide. There are a few more that I enjoy. I was never happy with the chemical tastes from the more economical liquid vendors. I do not understand the high praise some of these liquids receive. The ones I have tried I have found to be not to my taste.

DIY your juice! there is a bit of a learning curve yes i know. but once you get the system down its super easy you can do the math in your head and the juice has never been better. (because its custom tailored to your needs and wants) i can make 30 mils of the best juice i have ever had for $8... i use TW for my nicotine concentrate and PG or VG base. i feel like they make a real decent product IMHO.

Watermelon Wave from Pink Spot is one of my all day vapes. Although it may be a somewhat one note flavor, it just hits the "spot" so to speak for me. It's such a refreshing blast of candy watermelon flavor that I just can't get enough of. I also have all day vapes from AiV, HHV, and MBV as well just to give you an idea of companies I like.

for me.. personally.. i do not care who's name is on the label.. cheap or expensive.. bottom line.. if i like it.. ill vape it.. if not.. ill pass it along to someone that will.. my current rotation covers the spectrum house to boutique juices.

Agreed.

My point was that when I started vaping... PS tasted perfectly acceptable to me... Now it doesn't... Now it tastes no better than cheap chinese juice.

See that's funny... My favorite juice is $38/30ml

PS is bargain juice.

I have... and plan to begin doing it again... my problem was i kept ending up with PS level juice... VERY artificial tasting.

If I'm gonna DIY, I'm going to have to do extractions, I won't be satisfied unless its close to Five Pawns level of quality.

How long have you been vaping and have you ever tried (and what do you think of) juices from higher end boutique companies?

Vaping Monkey
Space Jame
Jameson's
Master Mind Elixer
Five Pawns
Ben Johnson's Awesome Sauce
Etc.

Just curious... See I made a slow progression from low end juice to high end... then a giant step back to low end.

See.. I appreciate True NY pizza... and true Chicago deep dish... I've had them both, in both cities... and what I've learned is they are both excellent... and both are definitely pizza... I also learned that you can't get NY or Chicago pizza anywhere else. I've been told thats due to the mineral content of the water from city to city.

New Yorker here, born and raised, and a lifelong pizza aficionado. I never bought the story about it being the water. I think it has a lot more to do with the ingredients in general, the oven and (most of all) the skill of the pizza maker. Believe me, there's a lot of crap pizza in New York, but the good places understand and honor the traditions of real NY pizza making and you can taste it in their product.

This is different... this is I used to think Dominoes was good pizza, when I was a kid... Now that I've had real pizza... I realize that while dominoes is cheese and sauce on bread with toppings... it's a stretch to call it pizza.

I can't even eat Domino's, Papa John's, Pizza Hut, etc. My taste was formed in the old-school neighborhood pizza parlors of Brooklyn and Queens and the "pizza" from chain places is like an abomination to me. Then again, someone who grew up with that stuff would probably complain that pizza from Totonno's, Patsy's, John's on Bleecker, etc. is too thin, under-cheesed and overcooked. But to me, it's perfect.

Never had real Chicago deep-dish but I wanna try it someday.

I think a lot comes down to individual taste. I started with JuicyJuice (now out of Buisness) and tried a dozen other vendors my first year vaping and nothing was as good. Went to DIY with TW stuff because JJ was always out of stock. Been DIY for about 3 years, but was in a rut and still with a VERY high, 36mg strength, so I decided it was time to try some vendors again. MBV, Highbrow, AiV, The Ploom Room, and a couple others. I liked nothing from AiV or TPR. I have 5 or 6 flavors out of 20 from MBV that I love but only two of the 20 that I wont touch agian. My fav is the Crem Brule with cinnimon added, from Highbrow. Problem is I ordered a 30ml bottle to resupply, and it does not taste the same as my first one.

I'd guess that I've ordered 70ish flavors in the last 5 months and of that 15 or so ill never touch, 10 or so I can be happy with for a week strait as an ADV, and the rest I have no issues rotating in. I always have 10 tanks full of different flavors and rotate them around throughout the day.

I've been on a high end juice splurge:

Ben Johsnson's
Plume Room
P.O.E.T
Alphavapes
Vape Goddess
Suicide Bunny
Five Pawns
Flavorz By Joe (are they high end? I guess, I dunno)
Drake's

AiV is my regular supplier (and while I consider them high-end, I don't think their prices are)

Honestly, so far, I can say they've all been wins aside from many 2 flavors that are just not for me, but I cannot say they aren't "good" juice.

It turned into a scientific study thread on whether one affected sensitivity to the other, but the general consensus was those sensitive to artificial sweeteners and couldn't stand the flavor of them leaned more towards spicier foods and hot sauces.... some went as far as testing whether diet sodas affected how hot foods appeared and whether it affected how long it burned, thats when I stopped following it....

I tried PS a few months ago, wasn't impressed. It was ok, but nothing to write home about. I generally don't look at vendors as high/low end, I look to find something that is going to suit my tastes. Whether it is five bucks for 15ml or fifteen bucks for 15 ml, I really dont care.
I have been vaping for a little over a year and still havent really found a ADV, believe me, I have tried. I started with MBV and thought it was pretty good. Then I placed an order with Ahulsion and tried to vape what I had left of MBV and it tasted like nothing but artifical flavors and chemicals to me.
I also think your device/battery/delivery system also plays a big part in taste. There is a big difference in vaping with a Ego type battery and say, a CE4 and a VV/VW device paired with a RBA/RDA for example. I hate when people say "taste is subjective", while I do agree, your device is also a factor in taste.

your device is also a factor in taste.

Case in point: I tried a new juice recently that tasted fantastic in a particular clearomizer with a 2.2 ohm coil, so much so that I immediately ordered a big bottle of it. But then the head became gunked up and I replaced it with a slightly higher resistance coil just 'cause I had more of them on hand. Then the flavor just about disappeared! This is the same clearo running on the same batteries, mind you, just at a slightly lower power than before. Most of the liquids I've tried don't change flavor so dramatically with a slight increase or decrease in power but this one sure did.

Don't underestimate a slight lower or higher resistance having minimal effect,

For V output of 3.7V, a 2.2 Ohm coil would yield roughly 6.2W, a 2.5 Ohm coil would yield 5.0 W

a watt can be the difference between not vaporizing to having burnt taste...

So you're saying i'm wrong?

Don't really understand your post as it doesn't seem to address what I said.

Seems to me Jeff view may be replying to your comment

So, has anyone else done this? Anyone else gone back to popular bargain juices after vaping a lot of boutique juice... and thought....

"maybe this is why newbies give up vaping"?

/QUOTE]

Buyer beware. Just because it is expensive doesn't mean it's better.
