Ive got 2 manual 808's and one just a second ago refused to charge :-(
Its dead to the point where I click the button and it just blinks so I put it in the charger and its not even registering as charging, the light stays the same...faulty charger? nope. I plugged in another and the light changed colors to charge and the tip blinked a few times. So whats up with my battery that wont light up or make the charger click over into charge mode? Any one else ever experience this?

WAIT!! Don't chuck it yet!!

Get some alcohol. PGA, 70% rubbing alcohol, vodka, Everclear, whatever. Strong stuff.

If the batt is a manual, put it in a shot class, threads-down, with 2-3mm of alcohol in the bottom.

Let it soak for 10 or 15 minutes.

Now, take an old toothbrush or something, and scrub the hell out of it. Try to get all the gunk out. And trust me, you'll get gunk.

If it's an auto, skip right to the scrubbing, but *carefully*. Maybe put a blunted toothpick in the hole to keep it from getting alcohol in it.

Let it dry.

Now try it again.

I had a batt that wouldn't charge, and I did this, and now it works just fine. I've incorporated this into my regular maintenance routine. Not only does it keep the batt charging well, but it also helps it perform better.

I most certainly have. If you have the charger that you push in try this: Gently twist as you push it into the charger. My manual batts were more finicky and this worked on mine.

Thanks! Ill try scrubbing it down then. I did have a push charger but had problems with it, now Im using... actually I dont know what it is. it has a green/red led and it screws in.
Random fact of the thread: Cherry/menthol/french pipe tobacco is a great combo! I put 10 drops cherry, maybe 7 menthol and then a few drops of pipe tobacco.

I had a battery that refused to charge anymore. the light would not indicate charge, only stayed red, never went to "blue." = fully charged. I read your tip and decided, what the heck, I'll try it before throwing away this battery.

the battery came from MyVaporStore, the intro kit, and it goes to a 808 carto set whic I love.
I put a little bit of alcohol in the cap to the alcohol bottle and put the battery down, tiped it a bit, and kept it upside down so as not to let any liquid go into the battery. Just 15 seconds or so.
then I cleaned it out with an old toothbrush, around the grooves. Next I slid a small piece of cardboard around the inside groove to get some deeper dirt. Put it back into the alcohol and I saw the gunk coming out.

Now - I let it dry for a few, and then plugged in to charge. GUESS WHAT? the light blinked blue, like it was charging! I am hoping for a full charge and will post in a few hours to let you know if it worked.

thanks

No problem!

I have found an easier way to do this - works best with isopropyl alcohol.

Put a few drops of 70%+ isopropyl in a carto condom, and slide the battery in there (not all the way down - just so the threads are in the alcohol).

I stood it up, threads down, in a shotglass anyway, out of paranoia even though it's a manual. :)

Left it there for 10 minutes, and pretty much all the gunk came out without even scrubbing. I suppose you could, just to get it SUPER clean, but the isopropyl really breaks stuff up well, so it's not necessary.

My "old" battery now has new life. I was getting ready to throw it away, especially after I called MyVaporStore. They said the life of a battery was only a month or 2 (??!!??) so I needed to buy a spare. Now my battery has new life.

Added to the new life battery, I also cleaned out my cartos in addition to refilling with the condom method. I blew them out, and all of this gunk came out. Now I guess I should go and blow out a few before throwing them away, they might get new life too!

Thanks so much,
sandy

I found a new quick way to clean the battery threads btw! I posted it in my helpful tips thread but Ill put it here also. It worked very well for me!

"take a tiny dab of tooth paste and put it on a wash cloth. Then just put your threaded part of the batter and grasp it firmly with the toothpasted(new word!) wash cloth ans twist a few times. It will instantly turn your threads chrome again instead of an icky gold color. I actually got excited at how well it worked! "
