My son had the flu last week. Vomit, runs, coughing, sore throat. He missed 4-1/2 days of school. My wife had been coughing, swollen glands, sinus problems (she's never been a smoker) the past couple of days. She's been pretty miserable.
I've been doing pretty good myself. I had slight sore muscles, slight sinus problems, tight chest... but nothing severe. Mine lasted about 3 days. I did not get symptoms nearly as bad as them, not even close. I was fairly impressed, usually I get just as sick, or worse when they catch something.
Intriguing.... perhaps thanks to my vaping, my symptoms where so much milder?
I have no other explanation why I didn't get as ill as they did. Perhaps just luck?

I will not be getting a swine flu shot!

Well no flu here yet but the first round of illness went through the office over the past two weeks and I always get something. Being a Supervisor I talk to everyone and touch papers etc... . Guess who did NOT get sick.

Now I will not credit this all to PG, the fact that I no longer smoke has a lot to do with it. Then again, PG IS the reason I don;t smoke so some credit is due.

Friday, September 25th, I had a real scratchy throat while at work. I thought it was the beginning of a sinus infection. The next day, it hit me like a ton of bricks! I am pretty sure it was H1N1. I was out of work all week long. Yesterday was the first day I felt like myself. My energy started to come back and I am going back to work tomorrow.

EVERYONE I mean everyone is sick as swine, snotty nosed bastages! No seriously I work with the public and have had snotboxed brats cough and sneeze in my face, co workers breathing in my face etc.

Thank god for a huge bottle of purell, vaping and cutting down on smoking (bastages at work are stressing me out too bad and with the loss of a battery I was at smoke or kill stage.) and burning my candle at both ends. I am prime to get the ills, or so I thought. Loaded up and made chicken soup, downing ptb green tea faster than I can make it... Just tired as hell from working 10-14 hour days. Thank god vacation starts tomorrow and I get to miss all sorts of fun at the hellhole.

I've been pretty sick with a flu for two days. Don't know if it's swine or not, either way it's a flu and it sucks. Fever, everything aches, my skin hurts, coughing, headache and I'm exhausted. I slept for 14 hours yesterday. Today I went to work for 4 hours and then came home to sleep another 6. Everything tastes awful, including vaping so I'm not vaping right now. That's a good thing because this suck even more if I was going through analog withdrawls and trying to drag myself outside for a fix!

I'm pretty sure I've been dealing with the H1N1 virus as other people around me have tested positive for it. I'm just not one for going to the doctor unless something is so broken that it is protruding out of my skin and I have no choice. I haven't been this sick in at least 15 years.

That said, thank goodness for the e-cigs! I can't imagine going through what I have for the last two weeks and still trying to smoke analogs through it! While I've been dealing with some congestion and loss of voice, it hasn't been that HEAVY congestion that keeps me up all night due to the wheezing.

On a somewhat related note, I go back for another CT scan in December to check on the progression of my lung disorder. It will be interesting to see if vaping has had any positive or negative effects on it. My last CT scan was done in August, about 2 weeks after switching from a pack a day of analogs to the ecig. I know I certainly feel better now compared to when I was smoking!

I just got the results back from my CT scan, and there is improvement in my condition! The fluid build-up around my right lung has decreased dramatically and the concentration of the diseased part is smaller. I'm not saying my 510 has cured me or anything, but I just wanted to share with you guys that the CT scan showed no ill effects from my vaping at this time. Of course this is just from 5 months of use, so who knows what it will look like next year. I'll keep you guys posted.

Great news Jennifer!

The problem I see a lot in my office, is people stating that they had swine flu when in fact it was just a cold. A lot of people don't even realize how cruddy the regular flu is. I think I had the flu once (that I can remember 5 years give or take) but I've had really bad colds on and off almost yearly.

The flu will kick your ..... Half the reason people get so sick and die, is that it debilitates you to the point that all you do is lay around for several day, and that makes pneumonia happen.

The last time I remember having the flu, I was back on analogs hardcore, and it just got worse and worse... hell I was smoking while I was sick.

I kind of wondered, if PG having that "drying you out" effect would help relieve some of the fluid build up and help break the mucous apart.

Also curious how it would effect COPDers that still smoke.

As far as the swine flu goes, almost every nurse/doctor I know has adamantly decided against getting the vaccine. But I'm a conspiracy junky and half paranoid of most medications anyhow. YMMV

Awesome news!
Tell me, cos I'm curious (lol), did your chest docs comment on this positive change - other than to be happy?
Are they aware you are vaping and not smoking and if so what are their views?
Be interested to find out if you don't mind sharing :)

The doctor seemed quite happy with the positive changes in the scan. When I asked if it seemed better she laughed and said "much!" In October she had told me that surgery was my only option and was rather pushy about it. She wouldn't accept "no" for an answer and told me to have a decision for her when I came back. When I went back on Wednesday she said that because of the improvement, that we will wait on the surgery. I don't go back for another year.

Throughout the process I only said that I had smoked and had quit recently. I figured she would have told me to stop vaping if she knew. Now I kind of wish I had fessed up to get her opinion on the matter!
