I have been vaping PG for close to 5 months and feel great!

I got the seasonal flu shot, but I need advice on getting the swine flu shot.

I have read a few bad things about this particular vaccine...but... I know I can't believe everything on the net. I haven't call the doctor's office yet. I would like to know what you think.

I do value the advice given here.

Thanks

Welcome to the Women's Room Lady!
Wezzie, I never get flu shots because shots give me the creeps. But as lady says, your doctor will be the best source of info concerning shots for you.
Every year somebody comes out with all kinds of garbage saying shots have koolaide or anthrax in them. I really doubt they would give them to first reponders if they were bad for you.

The board is still a bit glitchy, but it will pass soon!
Wezzie, I am glad you got professional advice. We are good at giving some kinds of advice, but there are few of us that are health professionals.
Now ask me about something I know! Burning dinner, losing my glasses..lol!

This shot is generally safe for everyone. If you are immune-suppressed or otherwise health compromised, ask your doctor. Otherwise, get the shot. And - NO - the shot does NOT give you the flu. The shot is made with dead virus - so no illness. You MAY have localized reaction to the shot - minor swelling and pain, but the shot can NOT give you the flu. If that were true, then your polio shot as a child would have given you polio....obviously, it did not.

However, the nasal spray contains live virus, and has a small chance of making you sick. If you're in doubt, get the shot, not the nasal spray, and you should be OK. Again, ask your doctor, and go for it. From what I've heard, the flu is much worse than the shot.

I have no idea,,, but did want to pass it along for your own personal thought....

Subject: Onions fight flu virus

OK, it is true. After reading this you will think that I have I have
really lost it. However, this is a true story.
>

In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this Doctor
that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat
the flu. Many of the farmers and their family had contracted it
and many died.
>
The Doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone
was very healthy. When the Doctor asked what the farmer was doing
that was different the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled
onion in a dish in the rooms of the home, (probably only two rooms
back then). The doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could
have one of the onions and place it under the microscope. She gave
him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the
onion. It obviously absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the
family healthy
.
>
Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser in AZ. She said that
several years ago many of her employees were coming down with the
flu and so were many of her customers. The next year she placed
several bowls with onions around in her shop. To her surprise,
none of her staff got sick. It must work. (And no, she is not in
the onion business.)
>
The moral of the story is, buy some onions and place them in bowls
around your home. If you work at a desk, place one or two in your
office or under your desk or even on top somewhere. Try it and see
what happens. We did it last year and we never got the flu.
>
If this helps you and your loved ones from getting sick, all the
better. If you do get the flu, it just might be a mild case

Hiya~ I just checked this on snopes.com and it's a false rumor.

Hate for someone to catch the flu hoping the onions would keep them safe!

I believe onions do keep me safe from amorous attention from my hubby!!:p

no worries pixiecut,,, was enjoying some ones comment that if your house was full of onions no one would come around to give you the flu :p

only one thing will protect you from a virus and that is a healthy body... would of been nice if you could have a filter that would help not keeping a virus re circulating over and over again in a house hold...

I used to swear I was going to put a 50 gallon drum of lysol outside my front door to dip the grandboys in! They brought every illness known to man or beast in the house when they visited! Not as bad now that they are both in higher grades. It's those little fella's that stay sick!

....uh, having onions is only part of the equation....you have to EAT them to do you any good. Raw is best, but cooking (but not boiling) doesn't diminish the effect to drastically.
"Onions provide many of the same anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and cardiovascular benefits as garlic, as well as helping to lower blood sugar. Eating onions just two or three times a week can lower the risk of colon and ovarian cancer significantly. Onions also help to maintain bone health, and are a source of many nutrients including vitamins B6 and C, dietary fiber, chromium, folate, manganese, molybdenum, potassium, copper, and phosphorus."

I'll have to remember to come back in here and post the most awesome 'scalloped onions' dish you can imagine. It's really quite simple but ... OMG! It is soooo good!! Hmm ... that reminds me ... we haven't had that for awhile ...:D

I'll try to get back here tomorrow night sometime with it but right now am doing home renos ... laying new flooring. Tomorrow night is down some more of the hallway and the master bedroom so ... may not get here tomorrow night but will TRY to remember! Of course, after the bedroom, it is the rest of the hallway, then the living room and finally the kitchen. Won't complain though. After I pulled every stitch of nasty carpet out of all this house (by myself I might add when nobody was home for four days - what was I thinking!!), NEW FLOORING! YEAH!!

Sorry - got off topic there! As for the swine flu shot ... well ... I'm with MaryKay there as well. Never had a flu shot in my life and (touch wood) have never had the flu! So between that and a whole lot of other reasons I won't go into here, I won't be in the lineup for this one either.
