Had mail again today my chi clone has arrived
Aios dripper coiled and wicked bottle of ry4 purchased and loving it.
The kick from ft is fine as well
Took the rocket to work this morning and polished of another tank of juice with no problems.
Happy days:)

With the chi clone I put a 3/32" o-ring in the switch Daz. Otherwise you can have problems with self firing with some batteries mate. The 3/32" O-rings are a perfect size to keep the base of the battery just off the switch contact. It means you can use the Panny batteries that don't have insulation around the base of the battery, without any problems.

I know the real chi doesn't have a delrin insulator in the switch, which to me is a bit dangerous - lots of potential for self firing :(

Thanks for the tip we have a box of o-rings at work looks like I'll have to borrow a couple.
I also had to take the adjusting pin out the top to get the kick to fit so now only button tops will fit with the kick in.

Well at the Boots in Rochdale, they wouldn't be surprised mate, I buy all my make up from there - but I usually go in dressed as "Irene" at the time :laugh:

Anyway, starting to get a bit tired now mate. Only got about 5 hours sleep last night. So I'm gonna turn in soon. Hope you get the iatty sorted mate. See you tomorrow, if I get time to come on here

ok mate good night,

I won`t give up on the i atty yet mate, after that first vape I just need to get it running like that again.:)

Yep i think you would struggle with the ithaka mate, It took me 12 months to try cotton (in an evod) and it didn`t do it for me. I think i had just put too much cotton in the coil though, so it wasn`t wicking right.

But since trying it again in the I atty, i will never go back to silica, or ekowool for that matter it really is that good. Just take your time, and when you get a a good cloned atty in your arsenal just go for it, you will be glad you did.

I have alot to learn and as you said I don't have much latitude with the Ithaka clone, but I keep reading about cotton and know once I get the hang of it with a decent tank it will reap vaping rewards! There is so much to try out I will look forward to it!

Hi Zero. As long as you buy an untreated, unbleached 100% cotton, it doesn't matter if you use cotton balls, make up removal pads or even take apart a q-tip. If you want to add a small amount to try there's some here - not the cheapest, but easy to work with :

Cotton Pad (5 pcs) - White Fog Ltd - E-Cigarette Shop UK - Best E-Cig

Cotton works best in things like taifuns, kayfuns and any vertical wick set-up (like an aga, iatty or similar), I also use it in Vivi novas :)

Cheers for the info when my vapemail comes I can give it a go! I've only been vaping a few weeks & waiting for the KF 3.1, KFL and Taifun GT Clones to come through.

No problem mate. You can get the O-rings from B&Q too. I've just got a few assorted sizes lying around, they always come in handy. Plus for the sake of a few pennies, it's well worth getting some.

I've been having a lazy morning so far, didn't get up til 11am

I'll get cracking on my chores soon though :)

That's the great thing about vaping we're all constantly learning. Some of the set-ups the pros on here do are works of art

Anyway, as I keep on telling Terry (and anyone else that will listen) - once you've perfected cotton, there's no going back honestly. For me, it's the best vape ever

Right I'm off to get the Fogger up and running.

Okay, a few pages back there were issues with the iATTY and cotton. I decided to pull the iATTY out and see what was up.

She came with double braided wire twisted around mesh, which in turn was wrapped around silica rope with a 0.61 oHm reading. I pulled the silica out, made a 3mm 'rope' of cotton instead and rolled the cotton up in the mesh, really squeezing the down as small as I could as I rolled it up. I just can't figure out how to get a cotton wich into the hole and wrapped with wire LOL The final oHm reading came to 0.8, and I am okay with that - I am not a cloud chaser and prefer my oHms closer to 1.6, but I left it alone.

I removed a thick little screw from the fill hole and filled her with 2 different needle nosed bottles, tilting her as I watched it fill up. I couldn't get the juice to flood up through the top at all, so I am not sure how that happened. There are TWO different screws and I used the one that I could see an opening from the glass tank... perhaps you are trying to put juice in the WRONG HOLE :p Naughty boy! Once the iATTY was full, I saturated the mesh wrapped cotton from the top and around the sides. I put the bottles away and started vaping her straight away.

I don't usually wait 30 minutes to vape anything. I even suck the juice up through Boge cartos to get them ready for an immediate vape.

Check you out building a hybrid wick ;) Glad it's working out for you Lisa. It's like I say, trying to get cotton through a coil is the hardest part, so it's probably a good idea to have the cotton inside the mesh. I noticed the fogger came with a silica wick wrapped in mesh - didn't use this wick though, cos it looked bloody awful.

How do you find the mesh Lisa??? I've never been a fan of mesh to be honest, it always gives me a metallic taste, no matter what I do with it. Glad it's working out for you though.

So today's update :

Cleaned out the fogger, the rocket, the aga and one of the RG500's.

Spent ages building a cracking 10 wrap micro-coil for the fogger (came out at 1.4 ohms), went to put it on the fogger and after half an hour trying I gave up. Why doesn't this thing have a collar that's removable or will at least push down (like on the taifun) Ended up leaving it, cos it was really pissing me off.

So the new coil went on the aga with some cotton. Set up the RG500 too, quite impressed with it. It has better airflow than the X9 protanks, so that's a big bonus for me.

After all the messing with the fogger, I decided to call it a day, so the rocket will have to wait again

I know nothing of hybrid wicks, I am just trying to salvage what they sent me =] Yes, the mesh DOES have a metallic taste and the sub-oHm also makes a harsher TH and perhaps makes the nic level seem higher. I don't get the same metallic taste with the mesh in the Fogger, so I think I should have given it a good torch BEFORE I put the cotton in it.

I've given up on mesh Lisa.

I've tried it torched, untorched, torched only in the area where the coil makes contact. I've even tried a silica wick with mesh shoelace ends (similar to the tape that holds the ends of shoelaces together to stop them fraying) - the silica is the shoelace and the mesh is the taped ends.

Every single one of them tasted rank. Low ohms, high ohms and in between ohms. I must have tried at least 10 different mesh set-ups.

Think I'll stick with cotton ;)

Right I'm off to get the Fogger up and running.

Indeed i have ian,

What i did last night was decide to build it again from scratch, cos of the burning issues i thought i would make a higher ohm coil. so i made one which came out at 1.9 which i thought would be perfect. (wrong) hardly any vapour unless i had a 20 second draw lol, so i took a couple of wraps off and it now comes in at 1.5.

I put a new wick in earlier and it was fantastic for a short while, now it has started to burn again :( maybe it is the wrong sort of cotton, but having said that the first ever wick i put in (same cotton) it was brilliant.

What gauge wire are you using? The necessity for the long draw to get any vapor reminds me of my thicker gauge wire needing a longer press on the button to heat the bugger up.

It is some new wire which i got last week, i ordered 30 gauge but it does seem to be thicker than the 32 gauge which was the last wire i used to use.

You've got me stumped a bit too mate. It has to be a wicking issue though, if the cotton gets burnt too easily. There's plenty of people using cotton wool though, so the type of cotton can't really be the problem.

You might have the solution Lisa, I found the same with thicker gauge wire too.

===============================

On a side note. I've found out about a UK vendor of some US juices. I was on a "vanilla custard" thread earlier and someone sent me a link to this site :

Spiritus Vapes

They buy in Nicoticket and Epic Juice from the USA and sell it on in the UK. It's a bit pricey at £9 for 15ml, but it's top quality juice. So I've just ordered :

Banilla
Big Stik
Custard’s Last Stand
Grandma’s Cinnamon Danish
Gravity
Main Squeeze

I've seen a lot of good reviews for all these juices, plus the company is based in Manchester too

I wonder if it's labelled up wrong mate. I've got 30 gauge here, no problems at all. Maybe try some ribbon wire instead. I know it's seems like a lot of faffing about, but it will be worth it.

Thats exactly what i was thinking Ian, they have sent me the wrong gauge. I think i will try some ribbon and see if it is any better.

Yeah i will plod on with it mate, good night.

EDIT: well i think i got it sorted mate, I have done a 5 wrap of ribbon wire a slightly thinner wick and it is reading 1.5 ohm.

I think where i may be going wrong is the way i am vaping it (being greedy) and not giving it time to saturate again after having a good blast lol. I will see how i get on with it, and maybe it is just me not being used to using cotton.

If i have any more issues with the cotton, i will get some ekowool in there if it kills me.:D It is a tank with definate potential.

Just got my FastTech Oddy working! OMG! USER ERROR mistakes until I had watched the YouTube video! I flooded it like a noob 1, 2, 3x! Many different parts and all put together differently, but after the video she was put together RIGHT and no longer leaking =]
She's a very smooth vape... on silica no less, but I put in a braided cotton flavor wick just to be safe =]

I'm glad to have the iATTY wicked and going again! I've set my MVPs aside since I've gone to these RBAs, but I always remembered my first vape on that iATTY with the plastic cracked tanks LOL

Yeah i will plod on with it mate, good night.

Your troubles remind me of my issues with the AGA T2... no matter what I did she was a mess! I set her aside and ignored here moody azz and when I returned she fired right up BEGGING FOR ATTENTION =] Maybe pull the wick and wire off of the topper and leave it alone... come back in a day or two AFTER you've watched a few YouTube videos and try again <3
