I'm gonna plug her in and hope for the best!! Since the antenna is a disused one a friendly ham donated I'm not really sure what band the antenna is designed for, it did come with an instruction manual though and should be enough to get started with before I start experimenting with dipoles :D The antenna is still in me friend's car hehehe, his wife completely failed to notice it!!

Dipoles are great antennas, easy to build and work well. A rain/wind storm we had in January, knocked down a tree and it wiped out all five of my antennas. I lost an Antron 99, Cushcraft 10 meter beam, 20 meter dipole, G5RV and a 2 meter vertical. I have a new Solarcon (Antron) 99 and a G5RV MAX (204 feet long, 62.18 meters) sitting in my garage. I am going to put them up next month. I can repair the 20 meter dipole and the 10 meter beam, but I'm not sure if I am going to put them back up again.

Have you seen the Cobwebb? The G3TPW CobWebb HF Antenna website

2 hams I talked to swear by them :D No good in a storm tho I guess hehe! I like its compact size!

It looks like a multi-band antenna, I will have to read more about it. I don't think it would survive a New England winter, though !!!

Yup, it's a 20 meter thru 10 meter multi bander. It's not cheap, price wise. I think you will have to mount it horizontal, if you mount it vertical the mast may act like a parasitic element and put your SWR through the roof. You should do well with it.

Theres loadsa technical reasons why it shouldn't work but does and such and it explains that the SWR should be all wrong but somehow it works really well! The guy who invented it is an interesting guy too :) There are build it yourself guides somewhere :D The balun is a load of coiled RG58!!!
