I'm not on it because I don't like being spied on, even by my friends and family. Is it really that rare not to be on facebook?

I'm not on! I knew about facebook long before it caught on and despised it from then.
When I tell people (friends, family and people i just met) that i'm not on facebook they either look at me wierd or get angry that I'm not on cause they can't chat with me online and then they try to convince me to join.

I created an account a long time ago, under a pseudonym, and never did anything with it. Didn't fill out the profile or anything. It's a yawn for me. Hey, I can remember a time when "everybody" was on AOL, myself included. Now, nobody I know personally is on AOL, they've all outgrown it.
ALTHOUGH, I know one person who keeps begging me to become a Facebooker, and join her in the obsession. I don't see it happening though.

Nope, not rare - you couldn't pay me to be on facebook and I find it beyond annoying how they constantly e-mail me to remind me of people who want to "friend" me.
I find it next to impossible to keep up with my good close friends lives - I couldn't handle trying to keep track of hundreds of acquaintances.

I honestly think facebook, myspace, etc. is all garbage. I don't need to advertise myself and I don't want/need people in my business.
If i lived close to my friends and family i probably wouldnt have one. But facebook is great at keeping me and my family connected esp when my hubby is deployed it really comes in handy.

I'm technically still on there. I know because everybody I've EVER known thinks I need to join their fifty billion groups and Facebook is kind enough to email me and let me know. I really need to suspend my account again (can you ever actually delete it?).
I went on Facebook, got bored after a few weeks and shut it down.
It also added people as friends I would rather forget about!!

I feel the same way. I do have a facebook account but I don't put in any information or pictures (except for a funny display pic here and there).
I DO THE SPYING!

I truely believe that Facebook/Twitter etc, all the social networking sites are an incredible networking tool for anyone in business. No better or cheaper way to get your name out there and the product or service you provide. I wouldn't have the business I have today if it weren't for friends and friends of friends spying my work on facebook and calling me up.
i have a facebook but i refuse to log in just on principle. this tends to annoy my kids. they keep telling me that i need to log in to check my messages.
however, i'm totally addicted to twitter. i have no idea why, but i am.

Ditto, I get enough spam in my email and don't need a bunch of people I don't know sticking their noses into my business. The people I care about have no problem getting ahold of me. I'm not antisocial I just hate spam and those annoying telemarketing calls and things like that. Now I don't get to much of either.
Ive been away from home for over 25 years and it's great to keep in touch with old friends and family....Im not posting every time I need to use the head or something like some people...lol
